  • Message from Superintendent Legault's Office

Punxsutawney Phil was right!  We do our best to alert school cancellations, delayed start times, and or early dismissals when dealing with pending inclement weather. I rely on the forecast, E.B. DPW, and surrounding districts to make the most informed decision in a timely fashion.   The best scenario is to give information the evening prior to the storm, however; that is not always possible.  I try to get information out by 5:30 am the morning of the storm.   Scenarios:   School Cancelled - no school, no Before and After Care, no activities, no athletics.   1 or 2-hour delays - adjusted school start times and schedules.

  • District Target Review - Final Report

In the spring of 2022, The Office of District Reviews and Monitoring (ODRM) at the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) and its partner, the American Institutes for Research® (AIR®), provided East Bridgewater Public Schools with a district review that assessed district systems.  The systems assessed were in the areas of leadership, human resources, professional development, curriculum and instruction, assessment, and student support standards.      The focus of the district review was to provide formative and actionable feedback.  This review does not require corrective action and/or continued monitoring from the state level. Information gained from this review enables us to reflect on progress and strengthen performance.   The review was composed of five activities that included: 1) a district self-assessment, 2) document reviews, 3) instructional observations, and 4) stakeholder interviews and focus groups.    Key Findings and takeaways by school are below.   Central School Gordon W. Mitchell School East Bridgewater Jr./Sr. High School The full version of the final report is posted to  https://www.doe.mass.edu/accountability/district-review/ .

  • ENGLISH LANGUAGE EDUCATION (ELE) TIERED FOCUSED MONI...

Department of Elementary and Secondary Education’s Office of Language Acquisition Re: 2023 ELE Tiered Focused Monitoring   During the week of March 13, 2023, the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education’s (DESE’s) Office of Language Acquisition (OLA) will conduct a Tiered Focused Monitoring Review of the East Bridgewater Public School District. The Office of Language Acquisition reviews each district’s and charter school’s ELE program every six years to monitor compliance with federal and state English learner education laws and regulations. Areas of review will include English learners’ student assessments, identification of English learners, what programs English learners are placed in, parent and community involvement, curriculum and instruction, student support services, licensure requirements for faculty, staff and administration, program plans, and evaluation of record keeping.   In addition, parent outreach is an important part of the review process. The district will send a survey to the parents of students whose records the review team examines. The survey focuses on key areas of their child’s English learner education program. Survey results will be reviewed by OLA and they will contribute to the monitoring report. Parents and other individuals may call Samantha Kodak, Office of Language Acquisition Review Chairperson, at (781) 338-3561 to request a telephone interview. If an individual requires an accommodation, such as translation, to participate in an interview, DESE will make the necessary arrangements.   Within approximately 60 business days of the review, the review chairperson will provide the East Bridgewater School District with a report with information about areas in which the East Bridgewater School District meets or exceeds regulatory requirements and areas in which the East Bridgewater School District requires assistance to correct or improve practices. The report will be available to the public at https://www.doe.mass.edu/ele/cpr/ . Gina E. Williams, Ed.D. Assistant Superintendent East Bridgewater Public Schools (508) 378-8200
