Subject: Important Update: School Schedule Changes D...
Dear Parents and Guardians, I hope this message finds you and your families safe and well. In light of the recent severe weather events that have impacted our community, I would like to share some important updates regarding the school schedule for Catawba County Schools. There will be a 2-hour delay for students and staff for the Foard, St. Stephens, and Maiden feeder schools in our district on Wednesday, January 10, 2024. This delay is to ensure the safety and well-being of our entire school community, allowing extra time for travel and preparation in the aftermath of the storm. Quest will operate on a 2-hour delay in these feeders. However, due to widespread power outages and extensive storm damage, schools within the Bunker Hill and Bandys feeder areas will be closed tomorrow with an optional workday for staff. Staff for these schools may work from home. This decision was not made lightly, but the safety of our students and staff is our foremost priority. A decision regarding after school activities in these feeders will be made by mid-day tomorrow. During times like these, our community's strength and unity are more important than ever. Our thoughts and prayers are with the residents of the Bunker Hill and Bandys areas as they work tirelessly to recover from this severe weather event. We understand the challenges faced by those affected and are committed to providing support in any way we can. If your family is experiencing power outages or other hardship created by the storms, please contact your child’s school. Your child’s absence will be excused. Please stay tuned for further updates through our official communication channels. We urge everyone to stay safe and exercise caution during this time. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. If you have any concerns or need assistance, please do not hesitate to reach out to your respective school administrators. Additionally, the likelihood of power outages poses further challenges to the normal functioning of our schools. Please note that our before/after-school program, Quest, will not operate tomorrow (Tuesday, January 9.) All extra-curricular activities will also be canceled for Tuesday, January 9.
