WCCUSD School Board Approves the Title I LEA-Parent and Family Engagement Policy Click Here to Review the Policy There is also a copy of the policy attached below in PDF Format. We are excited to share our newly adopted Parent & Family Engagement Policy. Your feedback on the policy is welcomed as the policy will be reviewed and updated annually as needed. Leave Feedback Here Policy Summary Summary of the West Contra Costa Unified School District’s Parent and Family Engagement Policy   What is this policy about?  This plan helps families and schools work together so students can do their best in school. It follows rules from the government to make sure families are included in important decisions.  What the School District Does  Shares the family engagement plan in handbooks, online, and at meetings.  Asks families for ideas and feedback through meetings, surveys, and committees.  Works with families to make school plans better  How Families Can Be Involved  Join meetings and give ideas about school programs.  Help decide how money for family activities is spent.  Learn how to help children with homework and school goals.  Learning Together  Families and school staff learn how to work together.  Workshops and events teach families about reading, math, college, and careers.  Schools offer help like translation, childcare, and transportation so more families can join.  Working with Others  The district works with groups like the GOPublic Schools and community agencies.  They share resources and offer support like health fairs and family nights.  Communication  Schools use tools like ParentSquare and ClassDojo to talk with families.  Messages are sent in English and Spanish.  Families get updates about school events and student progress.  Checking Progress  Every year, the district asks families how things are going.  They use this feedback to make the plan better.  Families help review and update the plan regularly.

Dear Students, You may have heard rumors about “Freaky Friday” Immigration raids. The rumors came to the district team as well, and we looked into them. We found that:  This operation appears to affect a limited group of young people between 14 & 18 years old who arrived in the U.S. without parents.   This operation also  does not  appear to target schools. Her project explored hyperbolic crochet structures—geometric forms inspired by coral reefs and lettuce leaves—tested in the absence of gravity.  👉🏽 Click to watch the video  Over a 20-second microgravity period, handcrafted samples with varying curvature were subjected to controlled forces to study their resilience and elasticity in space-like conditions. The experiment’s findings could have significant implications for the future of spacecraft textiles, protective materials, and structural design, potentially influencing how these naturally inspired shapes are used in space missions and engineering on Earth. Once data analysis is complete, Shriya’s achievement will be celebrated district-wide and at her school, honoring her dedication and the unique scientific contributions of this historic microgravity experiment. 📣 Calling all African American Parent Advisory Committee members & parents/guardians of African American students!
