Update Regarding ICE Activity in Soledad and School ...
Dear Soledad USD Parents and Families, We are aware of community reports regarding the presence of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents in Soledad earlier today. We checked with the Soledad Police Department and were advised that the ICE activity was limited to targeted criminal matters and not related to our schools or students. At this time, there is no indication of ICE presence near any Soledad Unified School District campus, nor do we anticipate any contact at school sites. We recognize that such reports may create concern and anxiety for our community members. We want to reassure you that the safety and well-being of your children remain our highest priority. We would also like to take this opportunity to remind families of the rights and protections in place for students while on school grounds, based upon our policies and regulations: Under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), schools are prohibited from releasing student records or personally identifiable information—such as immigration status—without parental consent or a valid court order. ICE agents are not permitted to enter school property without a judicial warrant. Our staff are trained on the legal requirements and district protocols should this type of situation ever arise. Soledad USD would not voluntarily share student data with immigration enforcement agencies. We remain committed to ensuring that our schools are safe, inclusive, and welcoming environments for every student. If you or your child need support, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your school office. Our counselors and staff are available to assist or connect you with community resources. Thank you for your continued trust and partnership. Sincerely, Randy Bangs Superintendent, Soledad Unified School District

Subject: High Heat Forecast for Friday – Student Saf...
Dear Soledad USD Families, The weather forecast for this Friday, May 30 , indicates high temperatures reaching 100 degrees in our area. The safety and well-being of our students and staff are our top priority, and we want to share some important information and precautions we will be taking across all school sites. What Schools Will Do: Outdoor activities (recess, PE, lunch, and after-school programs) may be modified, moved indoors, or rescheduled depending on the heat risk level. Students will be supervised in air-conditioned or cooler indoor spaces such as the cafeterias, multipurpose rooms, gymnasiums, and libraries as needed, depending upon each school site. Our school district follows the California Department of Public Health and National Weather Service guidelines for managing high heat conditions on campus. How You Can Help: Ensure your child comes to school with a refillable water bottle as there are water stations on every campus Dress your child in lightweight, breathable clothing and apply sunscreen if needed before school. Encourage your child to stay hydrated and alert staff if they feel unwell. We appreciate your support in keeping our students safe and comfortable during this period of high heat. If you have any questions, please contact your school’s front office. Thank you for partnering with us for a safe and healthy learning environment. Sincerely Randy Bangs Superintendent

Memorial Day Message & Community Ceremony Invitation
Dear Soledad Unified Families, Staff, and Students, This Memorial Day, we are reminded of the solemn purpose of this national holiday: to honor and remember the brave men and women of the United States Armed Forces who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. Their courage and commitment have made possible the freedoms we enjoy today, including the opportunity to learn, work, and grow together in our Soledad schools. We encourage everyone in our community to take a moment over the holiday weekend to reflect on the sacrifices made by our service members and their families. In observance of Memorial Day, we also invite you to attend the City of Soledad Memorial Day Ceremony on Monday, May 26 at 10:00 a.m. at the Soledad Cemetery . This annual event provides an opportunity for our community to come together in gratitude and remembrance. As the school year nears its close, we remain focused on finishing strong—there are still important opportunities for learning, celebration, and connection in these final weeks. Gratefully, Randy Bangs Superintendent
