In the classroom, students also showcased their creativity through imaginative writing pieces centered around leprechauns, highlighting both their writing skills and enthusiasm. We also celebrated Ag Literacy Week, welcoming Ms. Ballard along with FFA students into our second grade classrooms. They shared a story focused on farms and the changing seasons and introduced students to the role of FFA, helping to build a meaningful connection between our students and the agricultural community that surrounds us. I would also like to take a moment to recognize our outstanding teaching assistants, Mrs. Macpherson, Mrs. Clancy, Mrs. Heaney, and Mrs. Gilbert. This work is centered on strengthening connections across grade levels to ensure a more cohesive and consistent learning experience for all students. During the day, staff explored how new New York State initiatives, including the Portrait of a Graduate, will shape student learning experiences and graduation expectations. Teachers then used dedicated work time to continue developing pacing guides and identifying essential standards within their courses. This is exciting and important work that will help reduce gaps and redundancies in the curriculum. The goal is to ensure all students have access to a guaranteed and viable curriculum from grade to grade. In addition, the district is beginning to utilize a new data tool that helps identify trends across attendance, grades, and assessments. This will allow teams to better support student success through more informed decision making. • Falcon Community Weekly Update - March 13, 2026

Good evening F-P Community, As we move further into March, it is encouraging to see signs of spring beginning to appear. Our students and staff continue to work hard in classrooms, on our fields and stages, and throughout the district. It is always a pleasure to see the positive energy and engagement that defines our Falcon community. I would like to share an important calendar update with our families. Within the teachers’ contract there is a provision related to unused snow days and the school calendar. If three or more snow days remain unused when spring break occurs, an additional day is added to the Spring break. The contract also states that if two snow days remain unused by Memorial Day weekend, an additional day will be added to that weekend as well. Based on the current number of unused snow days, the district is planning for two additional days off this year. As of now, the district will be closed on April 6 and May 21. These days will extend the Spring break and the Memorial Day weekend. I want to give our community advance notice so families can plan accordingly. Please note that these additional days are dependent on the continued availability of snow days. If a snow day is used between now and March 19, we would no longer be able to add the extra day to the April break. As always, thank you for your continued support of our students, staff, and school community. We appreciate the partnership we share with our families and community members as we continue working together to provide the best possible educational experience for our students.    Photo of the Week:    Lunch Recess       Elementary Highlights of the Week:  We were especially happy to welcome grandparents and special guests for three mornings of our Grandparents and Special Guests Breakfasts this week. The events were filled with smiles, great conversations, and many positive moments as students spent quality time with the important people in their lives. A huge thank you to APTS for your partnership and for running the photo booth. Pictures will be sent home with students in the coming weeks. Students in grades 2 and 3 also continued participating in their enrichment clusters. These groups provide opportunities for students to explore new interests, collaborate with peers across classrooms, and engage in hands on learning experiences. These opportunities directly support Strategic Goal 1, enhancing academic and enrichment opportunities for students, by giving them meaningful ways to extend their learning beyond the traditional classroom setting. In the classrooms, learning continues in full swing. Our fourth and fifth grade students have been busy with science projects and experiments, asking questions, testing ideas, and exploring concepts through investigation and discovery. Across the building, students are also continuing to work on ongoing projects and classroom activities. Earlier in the week, the warmer weather gave everyone a welcome chance to enjoy recess outside in warmer temperatures. Students were excited to get some fresh air and spend time playing outdoors. Good evening F-P Community, As we move into the month of March, we are preparing to turn the clocks ahead this weekend as Daylight Saving Time begins. Please remember to set your clocks forward one hour on Sunday morning. With the time change and the improving weather, there is a noticeable positive energy across our school community. Classrooms remain busy with learning, activities, and preparations for the final stretch of the school year. It is always encouraging to see our students engaged and our staff continuing to provide outstanding opportunities for them each day. We are also pleased to share continued positive momentum regarding our facilities and capital project work. Contact Your Local Representatives: As many in our community know, one of the greatest challenges we face each year in developing a responsible school budget is our heavy reliance on state aid. Over the past several budget cycles and calendar years, Foundation Aid has remained flat and in some cases has decreased, while the district continues to experience increasing expenses such as employee health insurance premiums and contractual wage obligations. These rising costs place additional pressure on our ability to maintain the high level of educational programming and services that our students deserve. Our elected state officials have the greatest ability to influence school funding decisions, and it is important that they hear directly from the communities they represent. I encourage members of our community to reach out and share their perspectives about the importance of adequate school funding and the impact that state aid levels have on our district.
