    Before summer comes to an end, join us for an afternoon of fun at The Burns Foundation Annual Back to School Block Party! This free community event and all FRPS schools and many district departments will be there to help families get ready for the new school year. Meet school staff, register for school, complete a bus form, and enjoy a day filled with fun! The event features free backpacks, selfie stations, entertainment, food trucks, and more!   • 2026 Summer Lunch in the Park Program

    Greater Fall River ReCreation Summer Lunch Program 2026 Dates: July 6 – August 28, 2026 Parks with activities from 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM Sites include Father Travassos, Griffin Park, Kennedy Park, Lafayette Park, Poulos Park, Pleasant View, Pulaski Park, Ruggles Park, and Sunset Hill (some FRPS schools will serve as rain sites). Additional lunch-only sites include Fordney Apartments, Father Diaferio, and Heritage Heights. No registration required; meals are first-come, first-served for children 18 and under.

  • 🧠NFHS Concussion Course – Required for All Durfee At...

    CONCUSSION COURSE 🧠 NFHS Concussion Course Requirement All Durfee High School student-athletes are required to complete the NFHS Concussion Course for the 2026–27 school year after July 1st 2026. This course must be completed annually before participation in any sport. 📌 Please note: Certificates dated prior to July 1st will NOT be accepted. The FREE course can be completed online at NFHSLearn.com and the certificate must be uploaded to ArbiterSports as part of the athletic registration process. Make sure this step is completed early to avoid delays in eligibility for fall sports.

    Durfee High and RLM RPA will hold final exams on Tuesday, June 23rd through Friday, June 26th. Students at Durfee and RLM RPA will be released at 11 AM on Final Exam Days. The last day for all prek classes will be Wednesday, June 24, 2026. Thursday, June 25, 2026 is an early release day for students (Grades K-11) Friday, June 26, 2026 is the last day of school and an early release day for students (Grades K-11)

    FRPS Community,  Here are a few reminders for June 2026. There will be no school and district offices will be closed on Friday, June 19, 2026, in observance of the Juneteenth holiday. The last day for all prek classes will be Wednesday, June 24, 2026. Thursday, June 25, 2026 is an early release day for students. Friday, June 26, 2026 is the last day of school and an early release day for students.   • Join the FRPS Strategic Planning Committee

    Dear FRPS Community, Fall River Public Schools is committed to fostering an equitable educational environment where every student can thrive. As part of this commitment, the district will be creating a Strategic Plan that will help guide the future of FRPS. As part of this process, we are forming a Strategic Planning Committee and are seeking participation from diverse voices across our school community. We are looking for parents, caregivers, educators, staff, and community members who are interested in helping shape the future of Fall River Public Schools. Members will generally meet once a month beginning in June 2026 from 5:30-7:00 pm, at Durfee High School and the first meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, June 17th.  There will also be additional opportunities for family, staff, and community participation through upcoming subcommittees and engagement sessions. If you are interested in participating in any capacity, please complete this Google Form . We welcome and encourage participation from voices across our entire community.   • A Letter to FRPS Families from Interim Superintenden...

    Fall River Public Schools Families, I am excited to introduce myself as the Interim Superintendent of Fall River Public Schools. It is truly an honor to join a district with such pride, resilience, and deep commitment to its students and families. I officially began my role on Friday and have already started to explore the city. I’ve enjoyed taking in the views from my office, which include the Fall River Waterfront, Braga Bridge, and Battleship Cove. I am struck by the rich history that surrounds this community. While I may need my GPS to navigate the city at first, I am very much looking forward to getting to know Fall River and all that makes it special. In just a few days, I have already had the pleasure of meeting many dedicated educators, staff members, and community partners. I am looking forward to connecting with more of you, our families, whose partnership is essential to student success. Building strong relationships with families is a top priority for me. These are not just words. They reflect what I truly believe. A strong school-family partnership is essential to student success. I bring many years of experience serving urban school communities, including my time as Superintendent of Brockton Public Schools. Although I officially retired from education several years ago, my passion for working with students and strengthening school communities never left me. That passion has led me to serve as an interim superintendent in several districts across Massachusetts, and I am grateful for the opportunity to now join the Fall River community. Over the coming weeks, I plan to visit schools and classrooms across the district to see teaching and learning in action. My focus is on ensuring that every student is supported, challenged, and inspired each day. I also want to hear from you, the families. Your perspectives, experiences, and hopes for your children are incredibly important as we move forward together. The months ahead will bring important opportunities and challenges. I am committed to listening, learning, and partnering with families, staff, and the broader community to support the success and well-being of every student and to build upon the strong foundation already in place.   • Additional Redistricting Forum – May 4, 2026

    FRPS Community, Over the past several years, Fall River Public Schools has been engaged in a comprehensive redistricting effort. Our efforts are rooted in our commitment to providing all students with equitable access to high-quality learning environments, appropriate class sizes, and strong connections to their neighborhood schools. Earlier this week, we held four informational forums at four schools across our district. As part of our commitment to ensuring information is shared with all stakeholders, on  Monday, May 4th, we will host one additional forum that will be open to all FRPS families and staff. FRPS families and staff are invited to attend Monday’s meeting, especially if you have questions or concerns.  Forum Details: Monday, May 4, 2026 5:00 PM Durfee High School Auditorium (Use North Entrance) The presentation portions of the meetings were recorded by FRED-TV and are expected to be shared with the FRPS community next week via ParentSquare. Redistricting is necessary to ensure enrollment across the district is balanced, reduce class sizes, create more consistent student-to-teacher ratios, improve long-term planning, and strengthen neighborhood school alignment so more students can attend schools closer to where they live. Because of these necessary adjustments, some students at both the elementary and middle school levels may experience a change in school placement for the upcoming school year. We understand that any change can raise questions, and we are committed to communicating clearly and supporting families throughout this process. If a child’s school assignment will be impacted for the 2026–2027 school year, families will receive follow-up communication from the district in early June. Children enrolled in district programs such as English Language Learner (ELL) programs or Special Education programs may receive additional information directly from those programs, as placements and services may involve additional considerations. We are committed to working with families throughout this process and appreciate your partnership, patience, and trust. As we work to create a more equitable and sustainable district for all students, our goal is to ensure that every child in FRPS learns in a setting that is supportive, appropriately sized, and aligned with their neighborhood community.
