Read More: https://www.bpusd.net/apps/news/article/1966753 Stay Mosquito Safe: Tips and Resources The District would like to relay important information to our school community regarding recent mosquito concerns and guidance from the San Gabriel Valley Mosquito and Vector Control District (SGVMVCD). Over the last few days, SGVMVCD has been actively conducting treatments in the northern part of Baldwin Park to mitigate the mosquito population. With recent high temperatures, mosquitoes emerge, posing significant health risks, including the spread of diseases. This year, there have been detections of local and travel-related Dengue fever cases, making it crucial for our community to stay vigilant and practice mosquito safety. To protect your families and reduce the risk of mosquito-borne illnesses, SGVMVCD encourages the following best practices: Tip ‘n Toss: Eliminate stagnant water around your home every week, as mosquitoes can develop from egg to adult in just seven days. Check outdoor areas for standing water, including flowerpots, birdbaths, and containers, and ensure pools are clean and maintained. Repel, Don’t Swell: Apply mosquito repellent to exposed skin, choosing a product with an EPA-registered and CDC-recommended ingredient like Oil of Lemon Eucalyptus, Picaridin, DEET, or IR3535 for long-lasting protection. Community Efforts: Mosquito control is a shared responsibility. SGVMVCD encourages families to share these important mosquito safety tips with friends, neighbors, and extended family members. Together, we can create healthier and safer communities. Thank you for your cooperation in helping to maintain a safe environment for all. For more information, visit SGVMVCD’s website.
