Dear Verona Families, Our schools will be closed for Presidents’ Weekend Friday, February 16 th,  through Tuesday, February 20 th .  Since schools are closed and students and staff will not be on campus, the Verona Police Department will use these days to conduct emergency drills at Verona High School. These instructive drills are scheduled for Friday, February 16, and Monday, February 19. Drill Schedule: Dates: Friday, February 16, and Monday, February 19, 2024 Time: Approximately 11:00 am to 7:00 pm Purpose: The primary objective of these drills is to enhance preparedness and response capabilities during emergencies within the school premises. By simulating emergency scenarios, VPD aims to increase the knowledge and skills necessary to respond effectively and ensure the safety of all students and staff in the event of an actual emergency. Community Awareness: The district administration and VPD understand these drills may cause temporary disruptions near Verona High School. We appreciate the cooperation and understanding of residents and businesses during these exercises. Please be assured that every effort will be made to minimize any inconvenience. Safety Precautions: During the drills, emergency response personnel and vehicles will be visible around the school. We kindly ask the community to avoid unnecessary visits to school grounds during the specified drill times for safety reasons.  The school district administration Verona Police Department values the safety and well-being of our community members, especially our students. These emergency drills are essential in our ongoing efforts to ensure preparedness and readiness for any unforeseen circumstances. We thank you for your cooperation and understanding as we conduct these important exercises. Should you have any questions or concerns regarding the upcoming drills, please do not hesitate to contact me or the Verona Police Department. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Sincerely, Diane DiGiuseppe, Superintendent Chris Kiernan, Chief of Police
