Message from Superintendent Dr. Pyle Regarding Immig...
February 4, 2026 Dear San Jacinto Unified School District Families, I am writing today to acknowledge the concerns many in our community are experiencing regarding immigration enforcement and its impact on families and students. We understand that these issues can create fear, uncertainty, and emotional stress, and we want you to know that San Jacinto Unified School District remains firmly committed to creating safe, welcoming, and supportive schools for all students and families, regardless of immigration status. We are also aware that potential student protests related to immigration enforcement may take place in the coming days. While we support our students’ First Amendment right to express themselves peacefully, we must also prioritize their safety and their education and ask for your partnership in helping us guide students in making thoughtful and responsible choices. Because these protests are not school endorsed activities, any student missing class will be marked as truant (unexcused absence) which may impact their academic standing. Please be advised that the District assumes no responsibility or liability for the safety, supervision, or conduct of students once they leave school grounds for a non-sanctioned walkout. We encourage families to talk with their children about alternative ways to engage in civic issues, such as writing to elected representatives, attending community meetings, or participating in respectful after-school discussions. If your child feels strongly about participating in a demonstration, please help them prioritize their safety and ensure they understand the importance of peaceful and lawful behavior. Because we recognize that these issues can affect students’ emotional health, we offer confidential mental health and wellness supports for students and families. The family liaison at your child’s school can assist you with accessing these services. We would also like to share an important resource, intended to empower families with knowledge and reassurance, titled “ Know Your Educational Rights ,” which reaffirms that: Your child has the right to a free public education Personal and family information is confidential We value your trust and partnership. Our commitment is, and will continue to be, centered on the safety, dignity, and well-being of every student and family we serve. Please know that you are not alone, we are here to support you. Sincerely, Dr. David Pyle Superintendent San Jacinto Unified School District
