  • Creswell High School Construction Update: New Front ...

Creswell High School Construction Update: New Front Entry Pattern Starts Wednesday Starting Wednesday, May 13, construction fencing will be in place to kick off excavation for the new secure vestibule and entrance construction. What you need to know : New Temporary Entrance: The existing main front doors will be behind the construction perimeter. Please use the side door adjacent to the front of the building for all entry.  This will be clearly marked. Accessibility: The automated "auto-door" has been relocated and is now accessible via the temporary entrance point. Landscape Changes: To make room for these safety upgrades, we have to remove two trees in the front. While we’re sad to see them go, we’re already planning to plant two new ones in their place once the project is complete! We appreciate your patience as we navigate these upgrades to build a safer, better CHS. Please follow all posted signage when arriving on campus!

This month, we celebrate the dedicated individuals who make our buildings places of inspiration, connection, and growth. May 4–8 is Teacher Appreciation Week. In Creswell, our guiding star is "One Team, One Dream."  While that "dream" is the success and well-being of every student, our teachers are the ones who bring that vision to life in the classroom every single day. This week, we recognize that while it takes the whole team to achieve the dream, our teachers are the heartbeat of the system. Join the Celebration The influence of a great teacher lasts a lifetime. I encourage our students and families to take a moment this week to reach out. Whether it’s a quick email, a handwritten note, or a simple "thank you", your words of appreciation mean the world to our educators. • CSD40 Update - April 20, 2026

CSD40 Update | April 20, 2026     Important Dates April 22 - Secretary Appreciation Day April 24-25 - CHS Drama Production May 4-8 - Teacher/Certified Appreciation Week May 5  - CES Spring Concert May 6 - Walk/Bike to School Day May 9  - CHS Spring Bulldog Market   Superintendent's Message   Building the Future: A Major Milestone for Our CTE Program Dear CSD Staff and Families, I am thrilled to share that we have reached a pivotal milestone in the planning and construction of the  new Career and Technical Education (CTE) building at Creswell High School . Over the past week and continuing into this one, specialized loads of prefabricated steel from R&M Steel have been arriving at Creswell High School’s campus. While it may appear to be a collection of steel beams and sheet metal to a passerby, to our students and staff it represents the literal framework of future opportunity and a  historic upgrade for our district . More Than Just Metal and Concrete This delivery marks more than a logistical milestone; it represents the physical foundation for the expanded opportunities we are creating for our students. By providing a modern space, we are ensuring that Creswell High School students don’t just learn about a trade, they gain hands-on experience using industry-standard equipment. Whether pursuing pathways in Agriculture, Manufacturing, Construction, Health Occupations, Visual Arts, or Business, students will have access to the tools they need to succeed. A Shared Success A project of this scale is truly a team effort. I want to extend a sincere thank you to our hardworking facilities team, our partners at  R&M Steel , and  YOU, our community, for your continued support of these important improvements . Please keep an eye out for more updates as the skyline of Creswell High School begins to change. Warm regards, Mike Johnson Superintendent Creswell School District   🏗️ Building Our Future: CTE Expansion Update We’re excited to share the momentum building around our new 20,000-square-foot Career and Technical Education (CTE) facility . This month marked a significant milestone as the first steel shipments arrived at Creswell High School. This impressive structure - generously donated to the Creswell School District by R & M Steel Company  - is now beginning to take shape. Seeing the steel arrive on site underscores both the scale of the project and the opportunities it will create for our students. More than just a building , this space will serve as a launchpad for hands-on learning and future careers. Students will soon have access to a modern environment where they can build complex projects, work with industry-grade tools, and gain skills aligned with high-demand career pathways. What’s Next? Construction activity will continue to increase as additional materials arrive and on-site work accelerates. We look forward to sharing more updates as this exciting addition to Creswell High School continues to rise. Construction Zone is now in place at Creswell High School   The west side of the Creswell High School campus has become an active construction zone and will not be accessible to pedestrians. This work marks exciting progress as crews prepare the site for the new CTE (Career & Technical Education) building and begin additional improvements in the academic wing.   Looking ahead, construction will also begin near the front entry of CHS as part of the project to create a safe, secure vestibule entrance for students and visitors. During this phase, entry will be limited to the side door near the front of the building. We appreciate everyone's patience and flexibility as these important upgrades move forward. These projects are designed to support student safety, expanded learning opportunities, and improved facilities for years to come. With nearly two decades of coaching experience and a lifelong passion for the sport, Coach Smyth brings energy, knowledge, and a strong commitment to student-athlete growth both on and off the field. Coach Smyth’s love for soccer began early—at just five years old—and quickly developed into a competitive playing career. He consistently challenged himself by playing above his age level throughout his youth and earned a starting varsity position as a freshman in high school. That same year, he led his team in both goals and assists and was selected to travel internationally with a select team to compete in China. As a sophomore, he was invited to try out for Team USA’s U16 team, highlighting the high level at which he competed during his playing career. After his playing years, Coach Smyth transitioned into coaching as a way to give back to the sport that shaped him. Over the past 18 years, he has served as a volunteer youth coach and spent five years coaching competitive high school soccer in Oregon, where he helped develop 13 All-State athletes and one Oregon Player of the Year. His coaching background also includes experience at the collegiate level with both men’s and women’s programs, as well as time coaching with Euro Soccer Schools. Coach Smyth says his motivation to lead the Bulldogs program is rooted in his passion for helping student-athletes grow: "It's very rewarding to see the growth of student-athletes from the time they enter the program to the time they leave. That is why I coach." As he steps into this role, Coach Smyth is focused on supporting student-athletes in all aspects of their development. He emphasizes that success in the classroom is just as important as success on the pitch and is committed to helping players become confident, respectful, and accountable young men prepared for life beyond high school. He also values collaboration and communication within a program: "Good coaches are the ones that listen and learn. As coaches, we have a lot of knowledge, but being willing to listen to your athletes make you better and strengthens your program." Coach Smyth plans to build on the strong foundation established by previous leadership while continuing to grow the Bulldogs soccer tradition. His long-term vision includes developing a competitive, character-driven program with goals that extend all the way to a future state championship. Core values such as dedication, determination, commitment, focus, respect, trust, and integrity will guide the program under his leadership. He believes athletics play a powerful role in shaping character and helping students advocate for themselves while learning responsibility and teamwork. Coach Smyth shared his enthusiasm for joining the Creswell community: "I'm very excited to get the chance to coach the players in the boys soccer program and to meet the parents, staff, and other coaches. I'm looking forward to helping these student-athletes reach the next level and continuing to grow together as a program." Please join us in welcoming Coach Smyth to Creswell High School and supporting the Bulldogs Boys Soccer team as they begin this exciting new chapter !  Hiring Fair Registration NOW OPEN Registration for the 2026 Hiring Fair is now open for youth, educators, and industry partners. • CSD40 Update - High-value Realities for Creswell Stu...

CSD40 Update | March 13, 2026     Important Dates March 17 - CMS Band Concert March 18 - Bus Driver Appreciation March 23-27 - Spring Break April 2 - CHS Bulldog Showcase; CES Incoming Kindergarten Orientation   Superintendent's Message   Dear CSD Staff and Families, In our previous updates, I shared how we have protected our General Fund by "stacking" various funding sources, grants, community bonds, and donations, to complete essential facility improvements. Today, I want to dive deeper into the actual numbers. By managing these projects in-house and utilizing our own expert staff, we have consistently turned high-cost estimates into high-value realities for millions of dollars less than projected. Creslane Elementary: Maximizing Interest and Efficiency The strategy we began in 2019 at Creslane has yielded incredible results. Initially, the comprehensive repairs for Creslane were estimated at $6–$6.5 million. Following the passing of the 2023 bond, we completed the final critical upgrades for approximately  $1.5 million.  Remarkably, half of those final expenditures were covered by the  accrued interest  from the bond fund alone. Final Result:  By coordinating bids and using our in-house maintenance crew, we completed the entire Creslane project for a total of $4.2 million,  saving roughly   $2 million  compared to original estimates. Creswell Middle School: Cutting Costs by 50% We simultaneously coordinated several CMS projects, including the HVAC and air conditioning upgrades, security enhancements, field lighting, and the completion of a large, unfinished classroom. The Estimate:  $3 million The Actual Cost:   $1.4 million  By managing the project and completing the classroom construction with CSD staff, we delivered these vital upgrades for less than half the projected cost. The High School Campus: A Staged Revitalization Our work at Creswell High School is a prime example of our "stacking" strategy. While the total renovation cost (including the new CTE building) was originally estimated at over $20 million, our in-house management will bring that total closer to  $15 million . Building #1 (Gym):  We combined a 2024 $2.4 million seismic grant with $2.6 million in bond funds. This $5 million budget not only covered the gym improvements but also allowed us to add new canopies that now cover 50% of the courtyard breezeways. Building #2 (Academic Building):  We were awarded a third seismic grant in 2025 for $2.3 million. We added $5 million in bond dollars to this project, which began this past winter break and will be completed this summer. Building #3 (Old Shop Building):  This past January 2026, we submitted our fourth seismic grant application for $2.5 million. With a $3 million bond match, we are planning a $5.5 million upgrade for Summer 2027. Building #4 (CTE Building):  The original estimate for the new CTE facility was $17.5 million. However, through the generous donation of the building structure, including framing, insulation, roofing, siding, and delivery, we have reduced the actual bond cost to $7 million. By coordinating the project in-house and utilizing CSD staff for construction labor, we are capturing significant additional savings. Looking Ahead: A Fully Modernized District By the end of September 2026, we will have efficiently utilized  85% of our Bond dollars . The remaining funds are strictly dedicated to the final CHS Shop Building renovations and other scheduled enhancements. With the completion of the Old Shop building, every single structure in the Creswell School District will be fully modernized. By taking on the role of project managers and builders ourselves, we have ensured that the trust you placed in us with the 2023 bond has been stretched to its absolute limit. We aren't just maintaining schools; we are providing our students with the safe, modern, and efficient learning environments they deserve. Warm Regards, Mike Johnson Superintendent Creswell School District                       Our youngest Mustangs have something to say..... In honor of Classified Appreciation Week, our 1st graders shared words of encouragement, gratitude, and love for the incredible classified staff members who make a difference in their lives every single day. From bus drivers and custodians to instructional assistants, office staff, nutrition services, and so many more, our classified team keeps CSD running and supports our students in ways big and small. To our Classified Staff: Thank you for the care you show, the smiles you share, and the countless ways you help our students feel safe, supported, and valued. This one's for you. Bulldogs Deliver Historic State Finishes Across Winter Sports! It was an exciting and memorable postseason for the winter athletic programs at Creswell High School. The Boys Basketball team battled their way to a 4th place finish at the State Tournament, capping off an incredible season that included a hard-fought matchup with familiar rival, Pleasant Hill. The Girls Basketball team made program history, finishing 5th in state, the deepest playoff run the program has ever achieved. On the wrestling mat, Micaiah Cranston earned State Runner-Up at 150 lbs, while Brandon Church placed 5th at 285 lbs and Javier Batista finished 6th at 157 lbs. These outstanding performances reflect the dedication, resilience, and Bulldog pride that defined an unforgettable winter season. Creslane Family Dining Event  Coach Mindy returned to work with Creslane student leadership to plan and engage families at the annual Family Dining with Dessert Event. The interactive event highlighted skills that students have been practicing through the Leadership Academy POWER Skill Program, which focuses on building confidence, respectful communication, and positive social interactions.  Creslane Celebrates Read Across America Week with Literacy, Laughter, and Special Guests Last week, Creslane Elementary celebrated Read Across America Week with a full lineup of fun activities designed to bring the joy of reading to life for students. From creative dress-up days to surprise Mystery Readers that students tried to guess, the week was packed with excitement. Our youngest Mustangs also enjoyed special reading time with Ms. Vreeland’s 3rd grade class, while students from Creswell Middle School’s FBLA program visited Kindergarten classrooms to share stories. It was a wonderful week of literacy in action, showing how reading brings our school community together. Community Partners Deliver a Joyful Ride for Creslane Lifeskills Students Recently, Creslane Elementary’s Lifeskills students celebrated as they received the arrival of a very special new addition—a Pumper Car—thanks to the generosity of local community partners. The adaptive-friendly, kid-powered vehicle was made possible through a connection with Lora Palmer of MobilityforKids.org and a donation from Rory at Point S right here in Creswell. Pumper Cars use a push-pull motion, similar to a rowing machine on wheels, allowing nearly all students, including those with special needs, to ride independently. The rhythmic motion provides valuable proprioceptive feedback, which can be especially beneficial for students on the autism spectrum, offering both a calming sensory experience and a fun full-body workout. This versatile equipment will support students across a variety of settings, including adapted PE, therapy services, and social-emotional learning activities. We are grateful for community partners who continue to invest in inclusive opportunities that help all students move, grow, and thrive.  Discover Your Future at the 3rd Annual Bulldog Showcase! Mark your calendars for the 3rd Annual Bulldog Showcase at Creswell High School on April 2 from 3:45 to 7:45 pm in the CHS Main Gym . This evening is a one stop opportunity for students and families to explore the many programs, opportunities, and pathways available at CHS. Throughout the event, guests can attend breakout sessions covering topics such as Second Language Skills for high school and college, information for incoming 9th grade families, CTE opportunities at CHS, and guidance for 11th grade families preparing for life after high school. Families will also have the chance to connect with representatives from CHS sports, electives, and student clubs to learn how students can get involved and make the most of their high school experience. Enjoy live  Jazz Band performances throughout the evening as you explore all that Creswell High School has to offer. Come see how Bulldogs learn, lead, and thrive. We look forward to seeing you there!        Making Reading Connections: How IRC Volunteers Change Lives at Creslane Elementary At Creslane Elementary, reading is more than a skill, it’s a connection. In this video, Creslane Intervention Specialist Shawna Bradley shares why the Intergenerational Reading Collaborative (IRC) is such a valuable program for our students and staff. Through one-on-one reading support, IRC volunteers help build confidence, strengthen literacy skills, and create meaningful relationships that support student success. • CSD40 Update - 🤩BIG NEWS: The Future of CHS is Here!

CSD40 Update | February 27, 2026     Important Dates March 2 - First day of Spring Sports March 2-6 - Classified Staff Appreciation Week March 8 - Daylight Savings March 12 - CES Family Dining Event March 13 - Shamrock Ball at CHS   Superintendent's Message   Dear CSD Staff and Families, In our last update, I shared our long-term vision for providing “state-of-the-art” facilities for our students. Today, I want to pull back the curtain on the specific strategy we used to fund these improvements. By strategically stacking grants, community bonds, and historic donations, we are transforming our district while protecting our General Fund from the high costs of construction. The "Creslane Model": Turning $200k into $3.5M Our approach began in 2019 with a  $2.5 million seismic grant  for the original 1949 wing of Creslane. When the pandemic hit in 2020, we received federal ESSER funds with some allowance for facility modifications. By combining these seismic and ESSER funds with a small portion of district dollars, we capitalized on having contractors already on-site. The Result:  We addressed over  $1 million in additional critical repairs  on top of the $2.5 million seismic project. The Savings:  A total of $3.5 million in improvements was completed for a district investment of approximately  $200,000 . The 2023 Bond: From 20% to 70% Approval By 2021, we identified nearly  $38 million  in remaining needs at CHS and Creslane. While initial polling in early 2023 showed less than 20% community support for a bond, we knew our students couldn't afford to wait. Through a month of intensive transparency, including school tours, forums, and videos, community support rose to 50%. On the May 2023 ballot, the  $18.5 million bond passed with a 70% approval rating . This success unlocked further state support, including a  $2.4 million seismic grant  for CHS and a  $4 million capital improvement grant  from the Oregon Department of Education. Innovation in Management and the CTE Vision To make these dollars go further, I chose to manage these projects in-house. Hiring an external project manager for a project of this complexity would have cost the district roughly 11% (approx. $5 million) in fees. By managing the contracts ourselves, we saved those millions to put directly back into building projects. Athletic Fields: Under Budget Using a $4 million state grant, we partnered with the Turf Field Council for Sports Development, which  donated 40% of the field costs . By sub-contracting the work ourselves and using our in-house licensed facilities coordinator for structures, we completed the track, football, soccer, baseball, and softball facilities for $3.6 million, well under the original $4 million budget. The CTE Building: A Historic Donation Our biggest challenge was a new 20,000 sq. ft. Career Technical Education (CTE) building, estimated at  $17.5 million . After a year of discussions,  R&M Steel  in Idaho agreed to support our CTE vision by  donating the entire building , including insulation and delivery. Arrival:  The building is scheduled to arrive in mid-April. Timeline:  Construction will be completed by Summer 2026. Budgeting:  We have set aside $7 million for the construction of the building, surrounding facilities and interior improvements. By sub-contracting this work in-house, we will continue to save on general contractor fees, repurposing every saved dollar into further upgrades and additional projects. This monumental effort is a testament to what happens when a community and its school district work in total transparency. We are not just fixing buildings; we are building a legacy for future generations of Creswell students. Warm Regards, Mike Johnson Superintendent Creswell School District CTE Pathways & Future Goals at CHS This week, Lane Education Service District hosted a Career & Technical Education tour across Lane County, including stops at Cottage Grove High School and Creswell High School. Community members, industry partners, fellow CTE educators, administrators, and stakeholders were invited to see firsthand what our programs have to offer, and our students truly stole the show. The entire CHS tour was student-led, with students serving as activity facilitators and docents, guiding guests through interactive rotations representing all 8 CTE programs. They spoke with passion, confidence, and pride about their pathways and future goals. Guests also heard from CHS alum Bentley Watson, who shared how CTE gave them a powerful jumpstart in their career journey. A full-circle moment that highlighted the lasting impact of these programs. The tour concluded with a look ahead at the exciting future of CTE at CHS, including information about our new CTE building, with groundbreaking beginning this spring! We are incredibly proud of our CHS students for their professionalism, depth of knowledge, and authentic storytelling. They are outstanding ambassadors for CTE and for Creswell. What a way to head into postseason play! On the mat, our Creswell High School Wrestling program is sending three boys and two girls to represent the Bulldogs at State. Their hard work, grit, and determination have earned them a spot on Oregon’s biggest stage. We are incredibly proud of our student-athletes as they enter State playoff competition and cap off truly impressive winter seasons. Let’s go, Bulldogs!    The Final OBOB Battles Are Complete at Creslane!   Our Creslane students wrapped up their final Oregon Battle of the Books battles today, and what an exciting competition it was! Creslane students celebrated 101 Days of School in style by dressing like the 101 Dalmatians, spots and all.  To make the day even more memorable, our Creslane Kindergarten classes welcomed some special furry friends for a fun learning experience. Kinders practiced counting activities and even took part in a hide and seek adventure with the dogs. What a pawsitively perfect way to celebrate 101 days of learning at Creslane! Meet the New Faces of CSD Digital Storytelling! We're thrilled to introduce our CSD Social Media Interns: Reagan Davis & Journey Meyer! While you'll see them around campus capturing photos and videos, their role goes way beyond just "social media."  These two talented CHS students will be the creative engines behind our digital content, capturing the heart of our schools for both our social platforms and the CSD40 Newsletter. From classroom highlights to behind-the-scenes looks at student life, they're here to tell the CSD story through a student lens. Eager to learn more about each of our interns? Check out their introductory posts on Instagram or Facebook . Spirited Assembly at Creslane! Our Creslane Cheer Enrichment group brought the energy and school spirit with a fantastic performance. Way to go, cheerleaders! We also enjoyed a special performance from our Guitar Club, featuring none other than Creslane Principal Ms. Halley! Her goal this year - voted on by Creslane students - was to learn to play guitar, and she's sounding pretty good! What an awesome example of learning and growing alongside our students. Student Leadership shared details about our upcoming Family Dining Night and we wrapped up the assembly by celebrating this month's Golden Award winners. What a great day to be a Mustang! BIG NEWS: The Future of CHS is Here! We are beyond thrilled to finally pull back the curtain and share the renderings for our brand-new, 20,000 sq. ft. Career Technical Education (CTE) building! This isn’t just a new facility; it’s a historic milestone for our students and community. And the best part? The entire building is being donated by the incredible team at R&M Steel in Idaho! The Details: A Historic Gift: R&M Steel is donating the complete building structure, including delivery and installation. A massive contribution to our vision for student success. On the Way: Mark your calendars! The building is scheduled to arrive in mid-April . The Finish Line: Construction is set to be fully completed by Summer 2026 . Smarter Building, Better Value: While the building itself is a gift, we aren't stopping there. We’ve allocated $7 million for interior improvements and surrounding facilities. By managing the sub-contracting in-house, we’re dodging those hefty general contractor fees, meaning every dollar saved goes directly back into even better upgrades for our students. This is more than just steel and concrete; it’s a state-of-the-art hub where the next generation of builders, creators, and innovators will find their path. • CSD40 Update - How we’re building "State-of-the-Art"...

CSD40 Update | February 13, 2026     Important Dates February 16 - No School, President's Day February 19 & 20 - CHS Drama Production February 21  - CHS Winter Dance February 23  - CES Papa's Pizza Choir Fundraiser   Superintendent's Message   Dear CSD Staff and Families, In this third installment of our long-term strategic fiscal management plan, I am providing an overview of our Long-Range Facilities Improvement Plan. This plan has not only preserved our General Fund for daily district operations but is also successfully creating safe, "state-of-the-art" learning environments for future generations of Creswell students. The Challenge: A Decades-Old Funding Gap W hen I joined the Creswell School District in 2019, we faced a very slim budget resulting from decades of inadequate state funding. Crucially, the state of Oregon does not provide funding for capital improvements like roof replacements, asbestos removal, or HVAC upgrades. A formal district-wide facilities assessment at that time revealed a sobering reality: Creslane and Creswell High School were in poor, unsafe, and, in some areas, dilapidated condition. The estimate to make our schools safe and conducive to education exceeded $40 million. With only $450,000 in our maintenance account and immediate needs like a failing Middle School roof ($300,000) and unsafe turf ($500,000), we had to find a new way forward. The Vision: Community-Driven Goals We responded by conducting a long-term  strategic visioning process  with the community. Through this needs assessment, our community identified five bold steps for improvement, including the most financially challenging goal: establishing “state-of-the-art schools”. The Solution: A Multi-Source Funding Strategy To achieve what seemed impossible, we collaborated with the district business manager and the Board to develop a diversified funding plan that avoided tapping into our General Fund. To date, we have successfully procured: $11 Million+  in state and national grants. $18.5 Million  through a community-approved capital improvements bond. $4 Million+  in private donations for facilities improvements. Responsible Stewardship and Local Impact By managing and coordinating our bond projects internally rather than hiring outside consultants, we have saved the district millions of dollars in fees and commissions. Furthermore, we bid out construction in small contracts to ensure local contractors could participate. This intentional strategy has kept millions of dollars within a 20-mile radius of Creswell. Looking Ahead: Completion and CHS Projects This summer, we will be near the completion of the bulk of our long-range plan. We currently have  $15 million  budgeted for high-impact projects at Creswell High School: $7 Million  for the construction of a donated Career Technical Education (CTE) building. $5 Million  for renovating the academic hall. $3 Million  to remodel the old shop building. We have also applied for an additional  $ 2.5 million seismic grant to assist with the shop building renovation. This monumental task was possible because we engaged our entire community to resolve a decades-old issue. By funding these repairs through grants, bonds, and donations, we have ensured that our operating dollars stay where they belong: in the classroom supporting our students. You can find this report and our previous updates on our   CSD Budget Transparency & 2026-27 Funding Updates webpage . Warm Regards, Mike Johnson Superintendent Creswell School District A Special International Visit in Kindergarten! Ms. Greene’s Kindergarten class had a very special visitor last week: exchange student Marcos Garcia from Madrid, Spain! Marcos has been staying in Creswell for three weeks and spent time with our Kinders answering questions and reading "The Story of Ferdinand" in Spanish. As a thank you, Ms. Greene’s class surprised Marcos with a class-signed copy of the book to take home. Students also learned a few Spanish words like “amigos,” and discovered that while we say “cheese” for photos in America, in Spain they say “patata” — which means potato! While in Creswell, Marcos has been shadowing CHS student Lance Risdal and enjoying several Oregon adventures, including deep sea fishing, visiting the Evergreen Aeronautical Museum, the Duck Store, and even a trip to Boise State University. Marcos recently headed back home on February 11, and we’re grateful for the connections and cultural learning he’s shared with our students. Safe travels, Marcos — thank you for being part of our Creswell community! Hay is a familiar face in the Bulldog community, having spent the past five years as an assistant coach in the boys soccer program. Hay’s connection to the game runs deep. He began playing soccer at just five years old and continued until injuries led him to transition from player to coach. Growing up in Scotland, where soccer is a central part of the culture, coaching felt like a natural next step. “That was the main sport we played,” Hay shared. “I wanted to stay connected to the game and continue teaching it.” After several years supporting the boys program, Hay felt ready to step into a head coaching role. “I decided to go for the girls head coaching position because I felt I could still teach the girls more about the game,” he said. “I’m excited to coach the girls program and see how far this group can go.” For Hay, soccer is about more than wins and losses. He believes athletics play a vital role in shaping students beyond the field. “There are a lot of life lessons in playing sports,” he explained. “You work hard to achieve your goals. Nothing is given to you in this game — you have to go out and earn it.” As head coach, Hay’s goal is to help student-athletes become the best version of themselves while developing a deeper understanding of the sport. “I want them to play with passion for the game,” he said, “and not just play it, but really understand and learn more about it — beyond just the on-field aspect.” Creswell High School looks forward to this next chapter for Girls Soccer under Coach Hay’s leadership and is excited to see the continued growth of the program, both on and off the pitch. • Creswell High School Achieves Historic 98.6% Complet...

Creswell High School Achieves Historic 98.6% Completion Rate; Outpaces State Averages in New Graduation Data The success of our schools isn't found in spreadsheets, but in the late nights, the extra help, and the encouragement that our staff and families provide every day. That collective effort is clearly visible in the recent published graduation results from ODE. We are incredibly proud to share that Creswell High School has seen a dramatic leap in success, reaching a near-universal completion rate for 2024-2025. This achievement is a tribute to the 'One Team, One Dream' spirit that makes Creswell such a special place to learn and grow. The  newly released data from the Oregon Department of Education  highlights Creswell High School’s ability to ensure that nearly every student reaches the finish line. Most notably, the school achieved a 98.6% five-year completion rate, significantly outperforming the State of Oregon’s average of 87.4%. The 2024–25 completion rate is consistent with the 2023–24 rate at 98.6%.  What does this mean?  In the CHS 2025 cohort of 70 students, 69 successfully completed their high school education, with 85% (60) on time by June 2025, and the remaining 13.6% (9) completing requirements through the extended fifth year (into the summer and possibly part of the following 2025 fall semester).  In 2023–24, 98.6% ( 90 of 91 seniors) completed their high school education. More Than Just a Number While the data highlights our district’s success on a state level, the true victory lies in the individual stories of those 69 students. For some, the path to graduation was a straight line; for others, it required a fifth year of grit, extra tutoring, and the refusal to give up. By ensuring that only one student in the entire cohort did not finish this year, Creswell High School is moving beyond "averages" and toward a reality where every child is seen and supported until they succeed. Continuing the Momentum This consistency of maintaining a 98.6% completion rate across two consecutive years shows that our approach is working. We aren't just starting strong; we are finishing together. As we look ahead to the 2025-2026 school year and beyond, the Creswell School District remains committed to this standard of excellence. These numbers are a testament to the hard work of our students and the dedication of our staff At Creswell, our mission is to prepare students for college, career, and life. By achieving a near 100% completion rate, we are proving that our ‘One Team, One Dream’ philosophy works. We aren't just starting strong; we are ensuring that no student is left behind.
