Welcome Kyle Kordon, New Assistant Principal & Athle...
Dear CSD Staff and Families, I am pleased to share another exciting update in Creswell High School’s leadership team. Following a comprehensive national search and interview process, Creswell School District is proud to announce that Kyle Kordon has been selected as the new Assistant Principal and Athletic Director of Creswell High School. Kyle brings with him a deep and varied background in education, student advocacy, and community engagement. With a foundation built on nearly a decade of teaching and leadership in Eugene School District 4J, Kyle has consistently demonstrated a commitment to improving school culture, increasing equity, and empowering both students and staff. As an educational leader, Kyle identifies three essential roles that guide his work: serving as an instructional leader and staff developer, building strong bridges between school and community, and expanding student leadership opportunities. These values are evident throughout his career—from spearheading inclusive advisory programs that reduced disciplinary referrals by 70%, to leading data teams and behavior supports that ensure every student is seen and supported. Kyle’s leadership style is relational, equity-focused, and student-centered. He is known for his approachable and collaborative nature, and he brings a steady commitment to helping students grow into their best selves—both academically and personally. He defines success as continuous improvement: increased opportunities, increased access, and a climate where every student and staff member feels they belong and can thrive. A passionate and recognized leader, Kyle has been honored with the ACE (A Champion in Education) Award , presented jointly by the Eugene School District, the Eugene Chamber of Commerce, and the Eugene Education Association. This recognition highlights his outstanding contributions to education and his impact on students, colleagues, and the broader school community. He was also recently named a Finalist for Eugene 4J’s Golden Apple Award for Administrator of the Year (2024–25). Kyle’s educational journey began right here in Lane County as a graduate of Pleasant Hill High School. Inspired by local educators who believed in him and pushed him to grow, Kyle knew early on he wanted to return that impact—first as a teacher, and now as an administrator. He holds a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Teaching and an Administrative License from the University of Oregon. Kyle officially begins his new role on July 1 , with a transition period beginning immediately. He is excited to meet Creswell’s students, staff, and families and begin working together to build on CHS’s strong foundation. Please join me in giving a warm Bulldog welcome to Kyle Kordon , our new Assistant Principal and Athletic Director at Creswell High School. Welcome to Creswell, Kyle! Warm regards, Mike Johnson Superintendent Creswell School District

You can access that on our website here: https://creswell.k12.or.us/about-csd/calendars/ New Era Dawning: Coach Chase Beach Brings Vision, Energy, and Heart to CHS Football A new chapter is unfolding at Creswell High School, and it’s one that promises grit, growth, and a whole lot of heart. Coach Chase Beach, the newly appointed head coach of the Bulldogs football program, is bringing with him not just a playbook—but a purpose. From Player to Purpose-Driven Coach Coach Beach's journey to the sidelines at CHS is deeply personal and fueled by resilience. At age 12, he caught his first touchdown pass and declared to his mom that he would one day play college football. That dream became a reality when he earned a scholarship to MidAmerica Nazarene University after an All-League senior season at Thurston High School. But fate had a different plan. At 20, he was diagnosed with Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy—a serious heart condition that abruptly ended his playing career. Instead of deterring him, the diagnosis redirected him. Beach was invited to join the coaching staff at Willamette as the JV offensive coordinator and wide receiver coach. That opportunity reignited his passion and helped him find a new purpose. “Coaching lifted me up when I was at my lowest,” Beach said. “I coach for the young people who just need someone who believes in them… I spend each day trying to serve as a reminder that even if it doesn’t feel like it all the time, you matter, and you are special.” Why Creswell? Coach Beach says he’s always admired the Creswell football program—from the players and coaches to the broader community spirit. When the position opened up, it felt like the right place at the right time. “It felt like the perfect fit throughout each step of the process,” Beach said. “What excites me the most is the leaders of men that I will be able to share with the Creswell community. In my opinion, we will have one of the best coaching staffs in 3A.” That sense of synergy is exactly what Beach wants to cultivate—not just on the field, but throughout the town. Building a Culture of Ownership Beach’s first priority is establishing a culture built on respect, effort, and ownership. “We will take pride in being ambassadors of CHS everywhere we go,” he said. His focus starts in the weight room but extends far beyond. From leadership meetings to classroom performance and community engagement, Beach is crafting a holistic approach to developing student-athletes. His formula for success? Get 1% better every single day. Teamwork, Trust, and Tailgates Coach Beach believes strong teams are built not just in the huddle, but in the bonds created off the field. He plans to introduce BBQs, team competitions, coach-versus-player games, and community events to build trust and unity. “We build trust through time spent as a unit,” he said. “What I’m most looking forward to is involving the community in these events. Stay tuned!” Player-Led Culture and Accountability In Beach’s program, accountability isn’t something handed down—it’s something created together. Players will be involved in setting goals, planning offseason programs, and shaping the schemes they run. “The things we accept in our program will be created with the players,” Beach explained. “We all hold each other to the standard we created together.” DBD and Enjoying the Traffic Two key mantras anchor Beach’s coaching philosophy: Day by Day (DBD) and Enjoy the Traffic . DBD reflects his belief in steady, patient, consistent growth. “Each day has value,” Beach said, “and a belief that it will lead us to where we want to go.” “Enjoy the Traffic” is about being present and letting go of the need to control outcomes. “If we focus on what we can control, live where our feet are, get better each day, and enjoy the traffic, the outcome will take care of itself.” On the Field: Fast, Fearless, and Fun On offense, fans can expect an aggressive, up-tempo style. “We will establish the run, use RPOs to take advantage of numbers, and push the ball vertically,” Beach said. He plans to simplify the game for linemen so they can play with confidence and tenacity. He calls it the “Ricky Bobby” offense—“I wanna go fast!” Defensively, it’s all about discipline, speed, and intensity. “We will understand our run fits better than we understand how to spell our own names,” Beach quipped. His defense will pressure offenses to throw and will focus on takeaways. And above all, the Bulldogs will have fun. “We will be unapologetic in the way we enjoy this game. This is a game, and games are fun.” More Than a Game: Football as Family Coach Beach knows the power football has to transform lives because it transformed his. He’s passionate about using the sport to instill life lessons in leadership, discipline, and resilience. “Football saved my life,” he said. “It helped shape me into the man I am today.” His dream? To create a Friday night experience that brings all of Creswell together. “It’s not just players and coaches that create winning cultures,” he said. “It’s a packed student section, alumni on the sidelines, tailgating pregame, and rushing the field after big wins. Football is community.” A Message to Creswell As he steps into this new role, Coach Beach has a simple but powerful message for the community: “You will never see any coaching staff work harder than my staff and I will. I believe in this town, this team, these players. I’m going to give you everything I have, every single day. Please, give these players everything you have. Show up and show out. Together, let’s go show this state what Creswell is all about!” Coloring Contest In honor of 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝 𝐀𝐛𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡, Vital Villages OR is hosting a coloring contest! There are so many achievements and moments of pride to celebrate across our schools that I am delighted to share with you. Firstly, I want to extend heartfelt congratulations to Creslane's OBOB team for their outstanding performance, finishing in the top 4 of their bracket at Regionals. Your dedication and teamwork truly shine through, and we are incredibly proud of your accomplishments. I am also thrilled to announce that a Creslane student has captured our hearts and minds with a winning short story in this year's Fiction Fantastic Contest. Your creativity and talent continue to inspire us all. Our spring activities have been nothing short of spectacular, including the memorable CMS Spring Concert performance that showcased our students' musical talents and hard work. It's moments like these that remind us of the incredible depth of talent within our district. In partnership with the Eugene Emeralds, we have kicked off the Creslane reading program, and it was a joyous occasion to have Sluggo, the Emeralds' mascot, visit our students. This initiative underscores our commitment to fostering a love for reading and learning among our young learners. Our CTE students have been gaining invaluable real-world experience thanks to partnerships with local businesses like Carnation Blooms, where they are honing their skills in marketing and agriculture. Thank you, Danielle Hoxie, for your mentorship and support in shaping the future leaders of our community. I am also pleased to announce the completion of the turf fields for baseball and softball, a project made possible by the dedication of many volunteers. Your hard work and commitment have transformed our athletic facilities and will benefit our students for years to come. Thank you all for your tireless efforts. As we approach spring break, I encourage all families to take time to relax, recharge, and enjoy quality time together. Please remember to stay safe and make the most of this well-deserved break. We look forward to welcoming back our staff and students on March 31st, refreshed and ready to continue our journey of excellence in education. Warm regards, Mike Johnson Superintendent Creswell School District S haping the Future: Community Engagement in Creswell School District’s Strategic Planning Last night, we gathered with our Creswell community for an engaging feedback forum on enhancing student achievement. Creswell High School CTE Students Gain Experience with Local Business Creswell High School Marketing students are putting their skills to the test with real-world projects, including their work on the La Dolce Vita Italy Paint Party Fundraiser on April 25th. Tasked with creating digital, print, and social media materials, they are refining their designs with client Kesch Allen to ensure a successful event. Their efforts highlight the power of hands-on learning and collaboration with local businesses. Continuing CHS’s strong community partnerships, several Business students will soon gain firsthand experience at Carnation Blooms, working with owner Danielle Hoxie. Danielle, recently recognized by local media for her volunteer efforts, has been instrumental in mentoring CHS students and supporting career-connected learning. This partnership not only strengthens students' business and marketing skills but also reinforces the valuable role local businesses play in education.
