Cadet Corps Press Release
Press Release California Cadet Corps Celebrates Remarkable Achievements and Community Impact Rosamond, California - August 8, 2024 - Since its inception in 2019, the California Cadet Corps (CACC) at Rosamond High Early College Campus and Tropico Middle School has proudly upheld a tradition of excellence, service, and dedication to both its members and the community. Founded as part of the prestigious California Cadet Corps established in 1911, the Rosamond Cadet Corps has quickly become a beacon of leadership and achievement. Throughout the past year, the cadets of Rosamond High School's and Tropico Middle School have demonstrated outstanding commitment to community service, honoring veterans, participating in air shows, and showcasing their exemplary skills through their precision Color Guard performances. One of the highlights of this past year was to be part of the Antelope Valley Mobile Vietnam Wall Ceremonies held at Westpark Elementary School in Rosamond. The Cadets provided three Honor Details to present flags to the families of three Rosamond veterans whose names are on the wall: Gerald Johnson, Johnny Tevis, and Clyde Ridgway. Under the guidance of dedicated instructors, the cadets have achieved numerous certifications and completed rigorous training programs that include: Lifeguard Certification FAA Drone Certification Emergency Medical Responder Certification Military Drill Instructor Courses Mountaineer and Rappelling Training Law Enforcement Training Public Safety Public Communications Survival Training These achievements underscore the comprehensive and diverse skill set that the CACC instills in its cadets, preparing them not only for future careers but also for leadership roles within their communities. Additional opportunities are planned for the future to include Firefighter training in coordination with state agencies such as CALFIRE. Some of the Rosamond Cadets have traveled overseas to India and England as part of the partnership to collaborate and encourage relationships with Cadets from other countries. In a remarkable highlight of their year, several cadets had the unique opportunity to spend a day at the State Capitol, engaging with members of the State Assembly and gaining first hand insight into the legislative process. "This experience at the State Capitol was incredibly enriching for our cadets," said Instructor Charles Wallis. "It provided them with a deeper understanding of civic duty and leadership, aligning perfectly with our mission to develop well-rounded and responsible young adults." The motto of the California Cadet Corps, "Essayons! Let us Try!", epitomizes the spirit of perseverance and determination that drives the cadets of Rosamond High School. Many cadets have overcome personal challenges and adversities, emerging as exemplary citizens dedicated to serving their communities and, in some cases, pursuing careers in the military. "We are immensely proud of our cadets' accomplishments and their commitment to service," said Suresh Bajnath, Principal of Rosamond High School. "The California Cadet Corps at Rosamond High continues to set high standards of excellence, preparing our students to succeed not just academically but as responsible leaders and citizens." The Rosamond High School CACC looks forward to another year of growth, achievement, and community impact as they uphold the values of honor, leadership, and service.
