Monday Minute May 19, 2025 Medical Lake High School Principal Spotlight Dear Medical Lake Families and Community, My name is Jeremy Vincent, and I am thrilled to introduce myself as the incoming principal of Medical Lake High School, beginning next school year. I’d like to share a bit about my journey to this incredible opportunity. I grew up on the west side of Washington, spending countless evenings at the Key Arena, Kingdome, or Safeco Field, where sports were a backdrop to my formative years. I graduated from Mountlake Terrace High School in 1996 and began my college journey in Southern California, ultimately earning my Bachelor of Arts in Education at Northwest University. Over the next 11 years, I taught secondary English across several schools, including three impactful years at Rogers High School in Spokane. During my time at Rogers, my wife, Erin, and I welcomed our first son, Griffin, who is now a high school freshman. We later moved back west to be closer to family, where I transitioned to administration—serving as an assistant principal and then principal at Ferndale High School before returning to Spokane. Currently, I am in my fourth year as principal of North Pines Middle School. Along the way, our family has grown to include two more children: McCoy, a 5th grader, and Josephine, a 2nd grader. Both will eventually be Cardinals when they enter high school. Life has a way of coming full circle. About a year ago, while watching my son play baseball at the Medical Lake High School field, I thought, “This would be an awesome place to work.” Medical Lake is a town that stands behind its kids, values tradition, and supports its military families with unwavering pride. Now in my 21st year as an educator, I strive to ensure schools are places where students feel valued and supported. A mentor once told me, “Families and students have plenty of challenges in life; don’t make school one of them.” This wisdom guides me, along with my core values of connection and community. I honor each school’s traditions, tailor solutions to meet unique student needs, and avoid a one-size-fits-all approach. I am excited to meet and connect with you in the months ahead. I look forward to building on Medical Lake High School’s strong legacy and ensuring it remains a place where every student thrives. On a personal note, I love spending time with Erin, my wife of nearly 19 years, and our three kids. We enjoy laughing, playing, and sharing family favorites like pizza, dessert, and mystery shows. Griffin is a three-sport athlete, McCoy is preparing for football and exploring theater, and Josephine is diving into softball and 8-year-old adventures! Thank you for welcoming me to your community. I am honored to partner with you to fulfill the Medical Lake Promise: Every Student, Every Day. Best, Jeremy Vincent, PhD 55th Annual Medical Lake Lions Club Youth Appreciation Awards Thursday, May 15th, the Medical Lake Lions Club celebrated the 55th Annual Youth Appreciation Awards. Monday Minute- March 17 Special Edition
Monday Minute March 17, 2025 Medical Lake School District: Your Feedback Matters! - Family Survey Dear Medical Lake School District Families, We value your partnership in providing a high-quality education for every student, every day, as outlined in our Medical Lake Promise. To ensure we are meeting this promise and continuously improving, we are asking for your valuable feedback through the Center for Educational Effectiveness (CEE) Family Survey. This survey provides us with crucial insights into your experiences and perspectives regarding our schools and district. We use these results as an important accountability measure to identify areas of strength and areas where we can grow. Your feedback directly impacts our efforts to create a positive and supportive learning environment for all students. Please take a few minutes to share your thoughts by clicking on the link here: Medical Lake CEE Family Survey or by scanning the QR code above. Your responses are confidential and will help us better understand and address the needs of our school community. We also want to extend our sincere gratitude for your continued support of our schools and your children. We appreciate your participation in the parent-teacher conferences last week, which were a valuable opportunity to connect and collaborate. Thank you for your time and commitment to the success of our students. Appreciatively, Kim Seeking Your Feedback: 2025-2026 School Year Calendar As you may know, several districts in our region have begun looking at shifting their school calendars over the next few years. For example, several of the schools in the Spokane Valley have added a mid-winter break in February. Other districts have added some extended holiday breaks throughout the year. Our district calendar team, in collaboration with staff input as per our collective bargaining agreements, has developed two potential calendar options for the 2025-2026 school year. We would like to share these options with you and gather your feedback before the School Board makes a final decision at our next meeting. Calendar Draft C: This option features a mid-winter break following the President's Day holiday, providing a longer time off in late February. Calendar Draft D: This option distributes breaks more evenly throughout the year, similar to calendars used by several other local school districts. We are not asking for a vote on which calendar you prefer. Rather, we are seeking to understand if you have any specific concerns or considerations regarding either of these options. We value your input and want to ensure that the chosen calendar best serves the needs of our students, staff, and families. Please review the attached calendar options below and share any specific concerns or considerations you may have by Friday, March 21st via email to calendar@mlsd.org. Please understand that the School Board will be reviewing all feedback and making the final decision at our next board meeting on Tuesday, March 25. Thank you for your time and valuable input. Upcoming District Meet & Greets We are continuing our monthly Meet & Greets to include opportunities to learn more about programs and needs throughout the district. We would love to hear from you. Please join us! Contact info If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact us.
