Update from Mr. Belfield
April 3, 2025 Dear Community and Staff Members, I am writing to share that I have accepted the position of District Superintendent and CEO at the Center for Innovation and Technology (CiTi/Oswego County BOCES), effective July 1, 2025. Consequently, I will be leaving the LaFayette Central School District at the end of this school year, concluding my time as Superintendent of Schools, which began on July 1, 2017. My time at LaFayette CSD has been a deeply rewarding experience. I have been consistently inspired by our remarkable students, dedicated staff, and supportive community. Over the past nearly eight years, I have genuinely looked forward to each day. We have celebrated numerous student achievements, including academic presentations, athletic victories, exceptional musical and artistic performances, the promotion of Indigenous language and culture instruction, and the overall success of our students, staff, and alumni. LaFayette CSD is a truly amazing learning and working environment, and I will always cherish the memories we have created together. The opportunity to lead CiTi arose following the retirement announcement of Chris Todd. The CiTi BOCES main campus is conveniently located near my home in Mexico, NY, and my daughter, Lillian, attends the Oswego County P-Tech High School. CiTi provides high-quality, cost-effective programs for 1,444 students in Oswego County, encompassing career and technical education, exceptional education, P-Tech, alternative education, and adult education. Additionally, CiTi offers a range of management, instructional, and technology support services to the nine component districts in Oswego County. As District Superintendent and CEO, I will also serve as the local representative for the New York State Education Department, supporting the 17,000 students and nine component districts in Oswego County. I extend my sincere gratitude to the LaFayette Central School District Board of Education and the Onondaga Nation leaders for their support throughout my time here. To our incredible students, families, and dedicated staff, thank you for allowing me to be a part of your lives. I am committed to working collaboratively with all of you during these final months to ensure a seamless transition and a successful conclusion to the school year. Sincerely, Jeremy Belfield Superintendent of Schools LaFayette Central School District jbelfield@lafayetteschools.org 315-529-9550 (cell)
