BEECH GROVE MIDDLE SCHOOL TEACHER NAMED “TOP 25” TEACHER IN THE STATE Mrs. Jonee Sutton The Beech Grove City Schools Administration and School Board are absolutely thrilled to share that Jonee Sutton, Visual Arts Educator at Beech Grove Middle School, was selected by the Indiana Department of Education’s Indiana Teacher of the Year Screening Committee as one of the “Top 25” finalists for the Indiana State Teacher of the Year. Jonee Sutton was selected as the Beech Grove City Schools Secondary Teacher of the Year for the 2023-2024 school year. Mrs. Sutton is celebrating her 20th year in the field of education and kicked off our new school year by reading her Teacher of the Year platform statement during our opening day convocation. Mrs. Sutton’s words proved she is an inspirational educator who makes us all want to be better for the students we are gifted to serve. Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Laura Hammack says of this nomination, “Today is an incredibly important day for Beech Grove City Schools. Mrs. Sutton manifested what our school community has known for a very long time. This is a very special school district with extraordinary educators who are difference makers in the lives of our students and their families. I am so proud of Mrs. Sutton and appreciate all that she has done to elevate and advance our students and community.” The process continues with the Indiana Department of Education’s Selection Committee reviewing the “Top 25” applications. From there, the State’s Top 10 Teachers of the Year will be identified. The City of Beech Grove stands behind Mrs. Sutton as she navigates the next steps in this process. Our Hornet Pride is stronger than ever – we're cheering for Jonee and all the great educators shaping our future! #LoveWhereYouLearn

Student Technology Device Protection Plan Here is a message from our PHENOMENAL Technology Department: Good morning! In previous years, families paid a technology device rental fee as well as a warranty fee. With changes in textbook rental fees from the state, these fees no longer apply. Instead, families will now be charged per incident for accidental damages that cause the student device to need repaired. Each incident of damage will be charged at a flat repair rate of $30. However, families will have the option to purchase a Device Protection Plan to help defer the repair costs caused by accidental damage. The Tech Department strives to provide the best technology to our students each school year. With the growing costs of technology and technology repairs, BGCS highly encourages families to purchase the Device Protection Plan this school year. The Beech Grove City Schools Student Device Protection Plan helps defer costs for damaged screens, keyboards, case, cables, etc. The Insurance Repair Plan costs $27 per student per school year . This is an optional purchase that can be purchased each school year thru the BGCS K-12 Tech Protection Plan portal at: https://www.k12techrepairs.com/beech-grove-city-schools/ NOTE: Any student device not covered under a yearly Protection Plan will be subject to per incident, flat rate repair charge of $30. Please direct any questions to your child's school. Thanks so much and have an incredible start to the year!
