VISD Classes Canceled for January 9th, 2025
Due to the predicted inclement weather and for the consideration of our students and staff, Venus ISD will be closed on Thursday, Jan. 9. The district’s decision included an evaluation of information from the National Weather Service predicting worsening road conditions during the school day and below-freezing temperatures. There will be no classes on Thursday, Jan 9 and all after-school activities, athletic games, and practices are canceled unless otherwise communicated by our athletic, agriculture, or fine arts departments. VISD will continue to monitor the situation and remain in communication with the National Weather Service and local city officials to stay up to date about the weather and road conditions. Decisions about any further changes in school scheduling will be made on a day-to-day basis and will be communicated accordingly. For additional updates, please continue to monitor our District Website, Official Social Media pages, and ParentSquare (messages will be sent via, text, email, or push notification). Welcome Back from Winter Break and Important Weather...
Dear Students, Parents, and Staff, Happy New Year and welcome back! We are excited to kick off another fantastic semester at Venus ISD. As we gear up for a new semester of learning and growth, I wanted to take a moment to address the current weather forecast. It appears that we may be experiencing some inclement weather in the coming days. Our top priority is always the safety and well-being of our students and staff, so please take note of the following reminders: Stay Informed: Keep an eye out for notifications from our school's communication platform, ParentSquare. You may also receive information via our school's website, official social media channels, and local news for updates regarding any potential school closures or schedule changes. Visit https://www.venusisd.net/en-us/communicationsdept to find our official school social media channels and how to sign up for ParentSquare. Dress Appropriately: With colder temperatures, please ensure your children are dressed warmly in appropriate winter attire including coats, hats, and gloves, especially for their morning and afternoon bus routes. Transportation: If there are any changes to bus routes or transportation schedules, we will communicate these as promptly as possible. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we navigate upcoming weather challenges. Stay Safe: Encourage your children to take extra precautions when traveling to and from school. Slippery sidewalks and roads can pose a hazard, so remind them to walk carefully and stay aware of their surroundings. Understanding School Closures: Deciding to cancel school involves careful consideration of multiple factors. Please take a moment to review the letter below to gain insight into this intricate decision-making process. We are looking forward to a successful and enriching semester ahead. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding as we work together to ensure a safe and productive learning environment for all. Warm regards, Dr. Patrick Torres Venus ISD Superintendent

Reminder Survey Closes this Sunday: Bond Election In...
Bond Survey Information Dear Venus Community Member, With many new residential developments in our area, we are anticipating tremendous growth in our student population in the coming years. This is a challenge that comes with exciting opportunities and important decisions for our community. To address current campus overcrowding and prepare for the significant student growth projected for Venus ISD, the Board of Trustees and administration have reconvened the Venus ISD Bond Committee. This dedicated committee of parents, grandparents, VISD employees, and community leaders has been working diligently this fall to study the district's facility needs. Originally formed in 2022 to explore a potential 2023 bond, the committee prudently recommended waiting to ensure the timing was right for our growing student body and expanding the tax base. Now, with growth continuing, they are considering the possibility of a bond election in May 2025 that could fund a new high school on land already owned by Venus ISD on Highway 67. To make the best recommendation for our schools and community, the Bond Committee is seeking input from all stakeholders. Your opinion is essential in helping us plan for the future and ensure that Venus ISD can provide enough seats for new students and a high-quality educational environment for all students. We invite you to participate in a brief survey to share your thoughts on how Venus ISD should prepare for the growth ahead. Your voice matters, and your input will help shape the committee’s final recommendations. Please complete this survey by Sunday, December 8. www.venusisd.net/bond-information Thank you for taking the time to share your perspective and support the future of Venus ISD. Together, we can ensure that our schools meet the needs of our growing community. Sincerely, Dr. Patrick Torres Superintendent Venus Independent School District
