District Newsletter February 16, 2025 In this issue: ACT Prep Course Remember to sign either the online or paper permission form for juniors attending the ACT prep course this Tuesday, February 18. This trip will provide valuable test-taking strategies and practice opportunities to boost their confidence and readiness. Accuplacer Exam The Accuplacer exam will be held in the Old Auditorium on Wednesday, February 19. The sign-up sheet is on Mrs. Wilson's door. This exam is for any student who needs qualifying scores for college-level classes, such as AP courses, and Virtual Arkansas classes, such as College Algebra, Public Speaking, Experiencing Art, College Spanish, etc. Students will also need scores if they want to attend UACCM for college or career center classes next year. Senior Slide Show Seniors need to bring six pictures they would like to use in the senior slideshow by March 1st—no later! Please deliver the pictures to Mrs Raines. Washington D.C. Trip Petit Jean Electric is once again sponsoring an all-expense paid trip to Washington D.C. and Philadelphia, PA, for any junior whose parent is a cooperative member. Students can enter by filling out a form and writing a short essay on the "Uniqueness of Electric Cooperative Utilities." Several of our students have gone in the past, and it is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity where you get to meet juniors from all over the United States and see some of our most famous country's landmarks such as the Lincoln Memorial, Washington Monument, the White House, Ford's Theater, Smithsonian Institute, and more for free. District Newsletter February 2, 2025 In this issue: Win A Scholarship Students and fans in 9th grade or above, please visit the UACCM table at the South Side Bee Branch vs. Bigelow East End basketball game next Tuesday, February 4th! You can sign up for a chance to shoot a 3-point shot during halftime of the senior boys’ game. One student or fan from each school will be selected to participate. If you make the shot, you’ll win a $1,000 scholarship to UACCM, sponsored by the Fayetteville Shale Scholarship Fund. Visit the UACCM table at the games for all the details and to discover how UACCM can help you achieve your goals! EAST Night Out February 4 from 5 - 7 p.m. will be EAST Night Out, a yearly in-person event showcasing projects and technological learning in the EAST environment. During the games, students will be in the High School Lobby to share their successes (and failures) with the public. Clinton Soccer Club Clinton Soccer Club aims to promote recreational play among children ages 3-10 (birth years 2015-2022) in Van Buren County. This club is not affiliated with any local school district. A registration fee of $30 is required. Our inaugural season will be in Spring 2025, and all practices and games will take place in Clinton. All forms and payment must be submitted by February 7. For any questions, please call 501-757-0597. State funds cover tuition, room, board, and materials for students. This non-credit program creates a unique experience for a select group of Arkansas’ best students. AGS offers motivated, creative students an intellectual environment unlike typical settings. Students are chosen based on their aptitudes in eight fields: Choral Music, Drama, English/Language Arts, Instrumental Music, Mathematics, Natural Science, Social Science, or Visual Arts. All students also take General Conceptual Development and Personal and Social Development classes. Interested students should see Mrs. Wilson. Cheer Camp Get ready for an exciting Mini Cheer Camp designed for elementary students! This fun-filled camp offers a great opportunity for kids to learn the basics of cheerleading, all while building teamwork and confidence. With experienced cheer coaches leading the way, participants will enjoy a positive and energetic environment as they work on their skills. District Newsletter December 15, 2024 In this issue: Arkansas Governor's School Arkansas Governor’s School is a four-week summer program for incoming seniors (current juniors) funded by the Arkansas State Legislature. State funds cover tuition, room, board, and materials for students. This non-credit program creates a unique experience for a select group of Arkansas’ best students. AGS offers motivated, creative students an intellectual environment unlike typical settings. Students are chosen based on their aptitudes in eight fields: Choral Music, Drama, English/Language Arts, Instrumental Music, Mathematics, Natural Science, Social Science, or Visual Arts. All students also take General Conceptual Development and Personal and Social Development classes. Interested students should see Mrs. Wilson. ACT The upcoming ACT is on February 8th, and registration is due by January 3rd. Please note that students won’t be in school on that date. If you need registration assistance or a free fee waiver as a junior or senior, see Mrs. Wilson before Christmas Break. Schedule Changes Schedule changes for high school students for the 2nd semester will begin next week. You can sign up at Mrs. Wilson's door. Please note that many changes cannot be made at this time of year since most courses are full-year commitments. Specifically, for 7th and 8th grades, Art, Band, and Choir are full-year classes and will not be changed at the end of the semester. Additionally, no schedule changes will be allowed after we return from the Christmas break. Christmas Food Drive The high school is preparing 14 food boxes for families to take home during Christmas break. Any donations of items will be greatly appreciated. Please send all items by Monday, December 16. Needed items are listed below: 7th - canned corn/canned soups 8th - boxed mashed potatoes/canned or bagged beans 9th - macaroni and cheese/bags of rice 10th - oatmeal/granola bars/pancake mix 11th - plastic jars of peanut butter and jelly 12th - spaghetti noodles/plastic containers of sauce Cheer Camp Get ready for an exciting Mini Cheer Camp designed for elementary students!
