Van Vleck ISD proudly launches the 2025-2026 school year with the inspiring theme “EMBRACE THE SPIRIT.” As we celebrate the beginning of the 87th year of VVISD and honor the 250th anniversary of the United States , we reflect on our rich history while looking ahead with spirit, unity, and purpose. This year’s theme encourages students, staff, and the community to embrace the spirit of tradition, resilience, and growth that defines both our district and our nation. New State Law, House Bill 1481 - Van Vleck ISD Off a...
As we prepare for a successful 2025-2026 school year at Leopard Nation, we want to remind you that there is a new state law, House Bill 1481, which was recently passed by the Texas Legislature and signed into law by the Texas Governor. This law applies to all public schools and open-enrollment charter schools in Texas, including Van Vleck ISD, and is to be enforced beginning the 2025–2026 school year. The requirements of the law go into effect on the FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL, August 6, 2025. Specifically, in Van Vleck ISD, we will be practicing "Off and Away All Day, From the First Bell To The Last Bell." Students will be required to turn off and store their personal wireless communication devices in their backpacks, bag, or purse. "Personal wireless communication device" means any wireless electronic communication device, other than a device provided to students by the school for instructional purposes, i.e.: Chromebook, capable of transmitting and/or receiving data: telephone, cell phone such as a smartphone or flip phone, tablet, smartwatch, radio device, wireless earbuds, paging device, and/or any other electronic device capable of telecommunication or digital communication. In addition, the law requires disciplinary measures for students who violate the new law. The purpose of this legislation is to encourage districts to: - Enhance Focus on Learning: Minimize distractions from personal devices to promote better instruction and academic growth. - Promote Positive Peer Interaction: Encourage face-to-face communication and collaborative interactions among students. The law does provide exceptions for students with documented medical, safety needs, and/or special education accommodations as stated in their individual education plan “IEP.” We thank you for your support as we work “together” to implement this new state law: Here are a couple of suggestions to prepare your student for House Bill 1481: "Off and Away All Day, From the First Bell To The Last Bell" - Talk with your student about the importance of following state law and school rules - Practice periods of "phone and/or device free time" at home You may contact your child's principal anytime if you have any questions or concerns. We look forward to a great year at Van Vleck ISD. Van Vleck ISD Administration
