Summer School 2026 Begins Tomorrow, June 2, 2026
Summer School is Cool!! Classes begin tomorrow, Tuesday, June 2, 2026 and conclude Tuesday, June 30, 2026. No classes will be held on Friday, June 19, as we mark the Juneteenth federal holiday. Registration for Summer School is open through June 5, 2026. TK through 4th grade students will attend classes at one of three campuses: Students who attended Barstow Fine Arts Academy, Crestline, Henderson, Lenwood or Skyline North elementary schools will take classes at Barstow Fine Arts Academy Students who attended Cameron or Montara will take classes at Cameron Elementary Instruction will be designed to provide intervention for students at-risk. Classes will begin at 8:15 a.m. and dismissal will be at 1:15 p.m. Students in grades 5 through 8 will attend classes at Barstow Junior High School (BJHS) and participate in our Bridge Program, which is designed to prepare incoming students with the skills they need to achieve at the next grade level. Credit recovery classes will be offered to all students in grades 9 through 12. Students in grades 9-12 will attend classes online. All high school students will attend Barstow Junior High School to check in on the first day of classes, June 2, 2026. All other classes will be online. Students requesting help with their online courses may go to the BJHS campus to meet with an instructor. P.E. classes are in-person at Barstow Junior High School. High School students must meet with their counselor to enroll. Special Education students in grades TK-12 will enjoy an extended school year. TK-8th grade students will have the opportunity to attend a field trip to Barstow Station Cinema and attend science assemblies "What's the Matter" and "The Invisible Wonder." See our previous post for Summer School Bus Routes. Students MUST currently be enrolled with Barstow USD to attend Summer School. Paper enrollment forms are available at the BUSD Central Enrollment Center, located at 551 South Avenue H.

Proposed New K-8 Math Curriculum Adoption Public Review
BUSD presented information to the Board of Trustees on February 24, 2026, proposing the adoption of the new math curriculum, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt California Into Math, for Grades K-8. The teacher and student materials are available for public review in the BUSD Board Room until March 13 (M-F, 7 am-4 pm). Additionally, the materials will be available for review from 4-6 pm on Tuesday, March 3, and Wednesday, March 4. The proposed new Grade K-8 math curriculum adoption will be brought to the Board for approval on March 10, 2026, for use beginning in the 2026-2027 school year.
