State Financial Aid Deadline Extension - May 2, 2024
Dear Parents/Guardians of Rocklin Unified School District Seniors, Great News! Following legislation signed by Governor Newsom, the priority deadline for filing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), California Dream Act (CADAA), and other state financial aid programs has been extended from April 2 to May 2, 2024. The extension is in response to the challenges many families have experienced since the rollout of a revamped version of the federal aid form late last year (click the link before for more information). The Rocklin Unified School District (RUSD) encourages all students to complete either the FAFSA or CADAA. Completing the FAFSA enables students to apply for federal student aid (including Pell Grants, work-study options, and federal student loans) and state financial aid such as the Cal Grant program. Many colleges and universities use the FAFSA/CADAA for aid programs, grants, and scholarships. Technical, trade, and vocational programs also accept the FAFSA/CADAA. It is important to note that students MUST complete the FAFSA/CADAA to qualify for two years of free tuition at Sierra College or any California Community College. Both applications are free. Click here to review additional FAFSA and CADAA information, including resources to help complete the application. Please contact your school’s counseling department for more information or visit studentaid.gov/help-center . By visiting the Federal Student Aid Help Center, families can receive support via chat, phone (1-800-433-3243), or email. Thank you in advance for your help. Sincerely, Rocklin Unified School District 2615 Sierra Meadows Drive, Rocklin, CA 95677 | (916) 624-2428
