Counseling Program at Elementary Schools Through our ongoing engagement with students, families, and staff, we identified the need for additional mental health support for our students. In response, Rocklin Unified launched our elementary counseling program in 2022-23. This year, we have expanded our elementary program by adding counselors to provide greater student access. Our elementary counselors provide classroom-based lessons (including a “Meet the Counselor” lesson at the start of the year), lunchtime activities, small-group social skills, check-ins, and individual and small-group counseling opportunities. School counselors support students in academic success, career exploration, and personal/social development; counseling services are available to all students. School counselor support includes social-emotional skill development such as self-regulation, friendship skills, empathy, coping strategies, self-advocacy, growth mindset, and more! If you have any questions or want to learn more about connecting with your elementary counselor, please look for the Counselor Corner messages in the school newsletter or contact the site’s main office. We are here to support you and your child! Missing 2 Days a Month Means the Child Misses 10% of the S chool Year! As we prepare to take time off from school for the Thanksgiving break, Rocklin Unified is grateful for everyone who has helped to restore a routine for showing up to school while supporting students and families. Daily routines are essential for reducing stress and creating a sense of security for students and adults. Please take steps to keep your child healthy and send them to school unless they are genuinely sick . Every school day is an essential opportunity for students to learn and connect with peers and their teachers. Rocklin Unified thanks: Our students and their families do their best to attend class every day, even when schoolwork is challenging. Our teachers have gone above and beyond to help make school a welcoming learning environment where students can thrive. Our administrators help us work together to ensure we are healthy and safe, feel a sense of community and experience the excitement of an engaging learning environment. Our many healers and helpers are the support staff and community volunteers who provide the extra hands and attention our children need. May these days off be restful and healing. I f your family or child needs support, please get in touch with the school’s front office for help. We look forward to seeing you again when school resumes on Monday, November 27, 2023 . Reminder: Please Complete Free/Reduced Price Meal Ap...
Dear Rocklin Unified Families, There is still time for you to help the Rocklin Unified School District (RUSD) ensure adequate funding for our schools and students. Rocklin Unified now offers families simple, easy, and online access to complete the Free/Reduced Price Meal Application (located on the right column on the website). While the State of California provides free meals for all students, families that complete the Free/Reduced Price Meal Application form ensure RUSD can receive the maximum state funding and better meet each school’s and student’s needs in order to provide additional services for all students. Without everyone's participation, schools may not receive all of the funding they are entitled to from the state, which would result in fewer services for our students and fewer tax dollars returning to our local community benefiting our students. Funding supports services for students, families and staff, including the following: Free after-school childcare Mental health and wellness services School counseling Full-day Kindergarten Staff and parent education Academic Intervention programs and tutoring Technology for students English learner and translation services College & Career preparation Supports for Foster Youth and Homeless Students The state-wide deadline for completion is approaching. Please disregard this message if you have already completed the application in the past. All families are asked to complete the Free/Reduced Price Meal Application by Monday, October 2, 2023 . All information is completely confidential and will not be shared with any other organization or entity. Your student’s identification number is not necessary to complete the form. Participation is critical to ensure our funding levels are not decreased for the current and future years. Parents click here for easy access and submission. Please contact (916) 630-3306 with any questions. Sincerely, Rocklin Unified School District 2615 Sierra Meadows Drive, Rocklin, CA 95677 | (916) 624-2428
