☀️🍎Seamless Summer Meals Program 2026
FREE Summer Breakfast & Lunch!🥪 This summer, District 20 will again participate in the Seamless Summer Meals Program through the Illinois State Board of Education. All students participating in summer school will receive a free breakfast each day . In addition, free breakfast and lunch are available to all children in the community 18 years of age or younger . Meals meet the same nutritional standards as during the school year. If you would like your child (18 or younger) to receive a free meal, please visit the main office at Greenbrook Elementary School during the serving times listed below. Children must be present to receive a meal, and meals must be eaten inside the school building. 📅 District 20 Summer School Dates : June 8 – July 2 Mondays through Thursdays ⏰ Serving Times : Breakfast: 8:15 – 8:40 AM Lunch: 12:00 – 12:30 PM We look forward to supporting our students and community this summer—enjoy!☀️

These help teachers understand student progress and plan for continued success next year. 📚✨ 🔬 Elementary Enrichment Expo: Our 3rd–5th grade enrichment students showcased their learning at this year’s Expo, sharing creative projects with their families. We’re so proud of their hard work and growth! 👏🎉 🌞 Summer School Program: Summer school is set to begin June 8 through July 2 at Greenbrook. The program will support 145 students, along with incoming kindergarteners participating in Kindergarten Kickoff—helping students stay engaged and ready for the new school year! 🎒☀️ Technology & Innovation 🧠 Innovative Learning in Action: Students are using exciting, hands-on tools to deepen their learning! From creating 3D models and CAD designs to explore math concepts, to building programs in Scratch to learn coding, and even developing virtual reality projects—students are gaining valuable skills in problem-solving and digital literacy. 🎮🧩 🎤 Sharing D20 Innovation Beyond Our District: This June, district leaders will present at the DuPage Regional Office of Education Summer Tech Conference (“Building the Future: Learning, Sharing, and Growing in a Tech/AI-Driven World”) at Lake Park East High School. They’ll showcase how D20 students are using tools like AI for research and AR/VR for immersive learning—bringing back new ideas to continue enhancing classroom experiences for our students! 🚀 🔒🛠️ Safer, Stronger Technology Systems: District 20 is upgrading to a new all-in-one system called Securly to enhance student online safety while simplifying systems and saving costs. At the same time, summer technology updates—including network improvements and equipment maintenance—will help ensure reliable, high-quality technology for students and staff in the upcoming school year. 🛡️💻✨ Student Services 🐍💜 Keeneyville Cobras Make History! Our Special Olympics team proudly competed in their first-ever regional competition at the Spring Games earlier this month! After a spirited school-wide clap-out send-off, our student athletes took part in events like the 50-meter run, tennis ball throw, and softball throw. 🏃🎾🥎 We are so proud of their heart, determination, and school pride as they represented District 20 so well—way to go, Cobras! ⭐ 🧠 Supporting Every Student’s Needs: District leaders are strengthening their Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), which helps identify and support students academically, socially, and emotionally. This approach ensures all students—whether they need extra help or additional challenges—receive the support they need to succeed. 💙 Helping Students Thrive Behaviorally & Emotionally: Staff are training on new strategies that focus on understanding student behavior as communication and supporting important skills like organization, focus, and emotional regulation. This work will continue next year, along with opportunities for families to learn helpful strategies at home. 👨👩👧👦✨ Finance & Operations Transportation Services Agreement Approved The Board of Education approved a new agreement with Illinois Central to continue providing student transportation services. District 20 completed a thorough public bidding process to ensure quality service and responsible use of resources. The contract will run for three years, with options to extend for up to two additional years, helping provide consistent and reliable transportation for students and families. HVAC Service Agreement Approved The Board of Education approved a one-year renewal with Midwest Mechanical to continue maintaining heating and cooling systems across the district. This includes two seasonal check-ups each year to help keep classrooms comfortable and systems running efficiently. District 20 selected Midwest Mechanical after comparing multiple vendors, noting both their reliable service and competitive pricing. The cost remains unchanged from last year. It’s a great opportunity for families to connect while children enjoy time on the playground. This year, we’re excited to add a special “Park Pop-Up” starting at 11:30 AM in partnership with the Hanover Park Park District. Families are invited to stay for games, crafts, and opportunities to connect with local community resources. It’s a wonderful way to celebrate the end of the school year together! 🧺🌳 📖🐧 Mystery Readers Bring Stories to Life: Our ECC students had a special surprise with visits from “Mystery Readers,” including parents and district staff who stopped by to share their favorite stories! These fun visits created exciting moments and helped inspire a love of reading for our youngest learners. Thank you to all of our wonderful volunteers! 💜📚 🧩 Early Intervention Summer Evaluations: To support our youngest learners, our team will be conducting Early Intervention evaluations from June 3–9 for children transitioning into school services as they turn three. 🌱 These summer evaluations help ensure that each child has the supports and placement they need ready to go for the start of the school year—setting them up for success from day one! 🎒✨ Greenbrook Elementary School 📚 Learning & Growth Celebrated: Students are wrapping up spring assessments, and it’s been an amazing year of learning! We’re excited to see all the progress our students have made as the year comes to a close. 🌟 🔬 Enrichment Expo Success: 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade enrichment students proudly showcased their hard work at the Elementary Enrichment Expo. Families and staff were impressed by the creativity, dedication, and thoughtful presentations from our students! 👏✨ 📖 Special Author Visit: Students in the Sock and Story Society Club had an exciting opportunity to meet children’s author Tom Watson, creator of the popular Stick Dog and Stick Cat series! 🐶🐱 Students enjoyed asking questions and learning more about the writing process during this memorable visit. ✍️✨ 🎉 Fun End-of-Year Events: Greenbrook held exciting celebrations, including Field Day on May 29 and the 3rd trimester celebration on June 1—a great way for students to celebrate a fantastic school year together! 🏃♂️🎈 Waterbury Elementary School 📊 Strong Student Growth: Waterbury students wrapped up end-of-year assessments, showing tremendous growth and achievement gains across multiple measures like MAP, FastBridge, and AMIRA. We’re so proud of their hard work this year! 🌟 👩🏫 Preparing for the Future: The team has been busy planning ahead—finalizing staffing (including a new Dual Language 1st grade class), reviewing student data, and building next year’s schedule to ensure a strong start for all learners. 📅✨ 🎉 Celebrating Students & Community: From concerts and performances 🎶 to the Enrichment Expo and PBIS celebrations, there have been many opportunities to celebrate student talents, positive behavior, and a great school year together! 👏 💙 Positive School Culture: Staff continued to focus on supporting the “whole child,” with classroom visits, teamwork, and special moments like lunches with students for positive behavior and Teacher Appreciation Week celebrations. 🍎😊 Spring Wood Middle School 🎶 Music, Arts & Student Talent Shine: Spring Wood students showcased their talents through band and choir performances, including a special trip to perform at Music in the Parks at Six Flags and a field trip to the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. We’re proud of their hard work and creativity! 📚 Strong Academics & Future Readiness: Students successfully completed state and district assessments, while staff continue using this data to support learning and growth. The school also partnered with Lake Park High School and welcomed incoming 5th graders to help ensure a smooth transition to middle school. 🏃♂️ Clubs, Athletics & Student Involvement: From after-school clubs and Homework Help to strong performances by the track teams, students had many opportunities to stay active, build skills, and connect with peers outside the classroom. 💪 💙 Celebrating Charger Pride & Milestones: Students and families were recognized at the Trimester 3 Charger Pride Celebration for their leadership, growth, and positive contributions to the school community. Join Us May 13 for the Elementary Enrichment Expo!🔬📚✨
Dear District 20 Families, We're excited to invite you to our annual Elementary Enrichment Expo on Wednesday, May 13 at Spring Wood Middle School (Thunderdome Gym)! 🐊Greenbrook and 🐯Waterbury Elementary School students will showcase their 3rd trimester projects in a "science fair" format, sharing their learning and answering questions. Families, friends, and special guests are encouraged to attend and celebrate our scholars' hard work. Grades 3 & 4 : Present from 5:30-6:00 PM ( arrive at 5:15 to set up ) Grade 5 : Present from 6:30-7:00 PM ( arrive at 6:15 to set up ) Families may arrive early with their students, but we kindly ask that you wait in the hallway or outside (weather permitting) until presentation times begin.
