D20 Weekly Announcements | September 9, 2026
🔔Weekly Announcements September 9, 2026 🔔Announcements Remembering 9/11: 25 Years Later This Friday, September 11, marks the 25th anniversary of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. As we remember the lives lost and honor the extraordinary courage and sacrifice displayed that day, District 20 will lower the flag at the District Office to half-staff in remembrance. Across our schools, students and staff will also take time to commemorate the occasion with a special announcement, a moment of silence, and a tribute to the first responders who answered the call and continue to serve our communities today. Together, we pause to reflect on the values of unity, resilience, service, and remembrance that remain as important today as they were 25 years ago. Never forget.❤️🤍💙 Join District 20's BPAC & RSVP for First Meeting (9/17) All District 20 families are welcome to join our Bilingual Parent Advisory Committee. D20 Weekly Announcements | September 2, 2026
🔔Weekly Announcements September 2, 2026 🔔Announcements 📊Understanding Benchmark Assessments: What Families Need to Know All K-8 students participate in benchmark assessments three times each school year. These assessments provide valuable information about how students are performing in English language arts and mathematics compared with grade-level peers nationwide. Kindergarten and first-grade students are assessed in early literacy and foundational math skills, such as letter recognition, letter sounds, and number identification. Students in grades 2-8 are assessed on reading comprehension and grade-level math skills. The data collected from these assessments helps teachers identify student strengths and areas for growth, adjust instruction to meet individual learning needs, and monitor progress toward grade-level expectations. Benchmark assessment results also help ensure students are prepared for state assessments. 📝Student results will be shared with families during parent-teacher conferences (October 29-30) and included with first-trimester report cards (November 13). Benchmark assessment schedules (also attached to this post): 2026-2027 District 20 Assessment Schedule 2026-2027 District 20 Dual Language Assessment Schedule 🧽🚗Hector's Gives Back Fundraiser🥪 District 20 is proud to partner with Hector's Car Wash & Detail and Community Consolidated School District 93 for "Hector's Gives Back," a month-long fundraiser supporting local students and families. 📣Important Deadline: Register by Aug. 14 to Start Sc...
As we prepare for the start of the 2026-27 school year, we want to remind you that students must be fully registered by 4:00 PM on Friday, August 14 to attend the first day of school on Wednesday, August 19 . If registration is completed after this deadline, district protocol requires 2 business days to process enrollment before a student may begin attending school . This processing time helps ensure schools are prepared to welcome your child. In some cases, school administrators may be able to expedite the process and will communicate directly with families if that option is available. 📌 Important for families with multiple children : If you are registering more than one student, please communicate with each school to help ensure siblings can start on the same day. If your registration is delayed due to special circumstances, including IEP-related matters, please contact your school's administration as soon as possible to determine an appropriate start date and coordinate plans with sibling schools, if applicable. For families who have not yet completed registration, we encourage you to attend our Registration Night on Thursday, August 6, between 4:00 and 7:00 PM in the Spring Wood Middle School Commons. Staff will be available to assist with registration, answer questions, and help ensure your student is ready to start school on August 19. Thank you for your attention and cooperation.
