National Weather Service Advisory
Greetings Dallas School District Families, Over the past few days, our district facilities have weathered significant rain and high winds without incident, even as some neighboring districts have experienced delays or closures. We are aware that the National Weather Service has issued additional flood alerts and wind advisories beginning Wednesday, December 18, from 8:00 a.m. through 7:00 p.m . At this time, Dallas School District schools are planned to remain open and on time for the remainder of the week. As always, we continue to monitor conditions closely. There is the possibility that severe weather could result in a power outage. If a delay or closure is necessary before buses begin their routes, families will be notified promptly through ParentSquare, similar to our snow or ice delay procedures. If conditions change during the school day, we will provide as much advance notice as possible and work with Midco Bus Company to coordinate an early dismissal. Our schools have plans and resources in place to keep students safe until they can be reunited with their families. When making decisions about remaining open or closing schools, our two primary considerations are our ability to provide heat and meals for students. If we can safely maintain these services during a short-term outage, we will continue operations. If power restoration is expected to take longer, or if we cannot ensure students remain warm and fed, we will make the decision to close school. We encourage families to review their plans for a potential early dismissal. This message is intended to keep you informed and prepared should weather conditions change. Thank you for your continued partnership and support. Sincerely, Steve Spencer Superintendent Dallas School District

Dallas School District Welcomes New Board Member Mat...
Dallas School District Community, At the October 13, 2025 School Board meeting, the Dallas School Board took action to fill the vacant board position created by the recent resignation of Ed Dressel. We are grateful to the five highly qualified community members; Matthew Woolsey, Jeffrey Hernandez, Michelle Bleth-Weber, Walt Markee, and John Beck, who stepped forward and participated in open session interviews with the board. Following the interviews, the board unanimously selected Matt Woolsey to serve as the newest member of the Dallas School Board. Matt was officially sworn in during the meeting and immediately began serving in this important role. We are excited to welcome Matt to the board and look forward to the experience, perspective, and commitment he will bring as we continue our work. Please join us in congratulating Matt Woolsey and thanking all of the candidates for their dedication to our schools and their willingness to serve our community. Sincerely, Steve Spencer Superintendent

Glow Run Volunteers Needed
Dear Dallas School District Families and Staff, The annual Glow Run is coming up soon, and we are looking for volunteers to help make this year’s event a success. This event holds special meaning in our community. For many years, it was lovingly organized by Judy Boustead, a longtime teacher in our district and dedicated volunteer, who recently passed away. Judy had a huge heart for serving others and played a major role in creating and growing the Glow Run. This year’s Glow Run will continue the tradition of giving back, with all proceeds going to support Christmas Cheer . Volunteering at this event is a wonderful way to carry forward Judy’s legacy of kindness and service to others. 👉 Glow Run Volunteer Sign-up If you are able, we encourage you to click the link above to sign up and be part of this meaningful tradition. Thank you for supporting our community in such a special way. With gratitude, Steve Spencer Superintendent

First Day of School Traffic & Safety Notice
Dear Dallas Families, As we prepare to welcome students back for the first day of school, I want to share an important reminder about traffic, safety, and planning for a smooth start. This year, we anticipate heavier than usual traffic around our schools due to ongoing community construction projects. ( For access to Community Construction Projects, click this link ): LaCreole Node Project & Detour: The construction project on Ellendale will continue through late September, creating detours that will funnel more vehicles onto LaCreole Avenue. ( Project Details ) New Four-Way Stop: A new four-way stop has been installed at the intersection of LaCreole and Miller. Please approach this area with patience and caution. ( Project Details ) Lyle Elementary Intersection Update – The Ellendale and Levens intersection project, near Lyle Elementary, is scheduled for completion by August 29 and is currently reported to be on schedule. ( Project Details ) How You Can Help Use School Buses When Possible: Our buses are the safest and most efficient way to get students to school. Each family that chooses the bus helps reduce traffic congestion and improves safety for everyone. Plan Ahead: Allow extra time, especially during the first week of school, to account for heavier traffic and new traffic patterns. Drive with Care: Please slow down, watch closely for pedestrians, and be alert near crosswalks and bus stops. Be Patient: We know drop-off and pick-up can feel hectic. Your patience helps keep our students, staff, and families safe. We are excited to see our students return and appreciate your partnership in making the first days of school safe and positive for all. Thank you for helping us put student safety first by planning ahead and considering the bus as your best option for school transportation. Sincerely, Steve Spencer Superintendent Dallas School District
