Once the request has been reviewed and approved, the district will work to initiate the vendor approval process. As technology continues to play an important role in education, it is essential that school districts implement practices that ensure student information is handled responsibly, securely, and in compliance with all applicable laws. Bellflower Unified School District is dedicated to maintaining a balance between utilizing digital tools to enhance student learning and safeguarding student privacy. Supporting teen mental health is a community effort May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and suicide prevention is an important issue that affects families, schools, and neighborhoods throughout our city—especially when it comes to our young people. Today’s teens face many challenges. From school stress and social media pressure to friendships and personal identity, it’s a lot to handle. According to the CDC, suicide is the second leading cause of death among people ages 10 to 24. And a national study found that 1 in 6 teens experiences a major depressive episode each year. Sadly, many teens don’t reach out for help. Stigma, fear, or simply not knowing where to turn can keep them silent. That’s why supporting teen mental health needs to be something we all take part in—whether you're a parent, teacher, neighbor, coach, or friend. Together, we can create a community where young people feel seen, heard, and supported. Watch the video for how Care Solace can help teens and families. The City of Lakewood is proud to partner with Care Solace, a free and confidential care coordination service that helps individuals—including teens and families—connect with mental health providers, substance use treatment, and social services. Call  888-515-7881  for 24/7/365 multilingual support. Visit  caresolace.com/lakewoodca  to search independently or click “Book Appointment” for personal guidance.
