2nd Semester McKinney-Vento Questionnaire
Dear Parents/Guardians, I am writing to let you know about the McKinney-Vento Act, a federal law that provides rights and services to children and youth experiencing homelessness. If you are struggling with housing insecurity, your child may qualify for support under this act. Here are some examples of situations that may qualify under McKinney-Vento: Sharing housing due to loss of housing or economic hardship Living in motels, hotels, or campgrounds due to lack of alternative adequate accommodations Living in emergency or transitional shelters Living in cars, parks, public spaces, abandoned buildings, substandard housing, bus or train stations, or similar settings Migratory children living in the above circumstances If any of these situations apply to your family, your child may be eligible for certain rights and services, including: Immediate enrollment in school , even if you lack typical residency documentation Transportation to and from your child's school of origin (the school they attended before becoming homeless) Access to free school meals Assistance with school supplies and fees Support for academic success , such as tutoring or counseling To help us determine if your child qualifies for McKinney-Vento services, please complete the attached Google Form. This form is confidential and will only be used to assess your family's needs. Good Afternoon, The Indiana Department of Education released the second draft of the new school accountability model and they are again asking for public feedback. Please visit the link below to access the slideshow highlighting the 2nd draft of the new accountability model, as well as the link to share your feedback. I have also included the slideshow as a PDF attachment. Public feedback is open now until November 17th. This is a valuable chance for us to share our voices and provide input on changes that directly impact our school. Sign Up for Community Assistance Flyers
Good Afternoon, Community partners and local businesses periodically contact our school system asking how to help our families who may be in need of assistance. Our GCSC counseling team has created a short sign up form for families to self-identify as being in need of assistance. This will allow our team to ensure community information is being shared with families interested in these programs. Personal information will not be shared with outside entities, this is simply a way for our counselors to create a "mailing" list to share community information more efficiently. If you have any questions, please contact your child's school counselor. If you are interested in being included in the mailing list, please complete this linked Sign Up For Community Assistance Flyers form or scan the QR code below. Purpose of Form Community organizations periodically reach out to GCSC Schools to ask if GCSC families need additional support with food, holiday assistance, etc. GCSC would like to create a Parent Square "mailing list" for families interested in these programs. Things to Know You must be the student's legal guardian/parent to fill out this form. You must have an active Parent Square account. Contact your student's school if you need to activate your Parent Square account. Filling out this form does not guarantee you will be accepted for support/assistance programs. It simply adds you to the "mailing list" to receive community support flyers as GCSC receives flyers. Please fill out the name & school for each GCSC student enrolled below. You only need to fill out this form once for your family.
