Teacher, Employees, and Volunteer of the Year
The School District of Oconee County is proud to celebrate Ms. Danielle Mathieu 2024 - 2025 District Teacher of the Year The first thing that stands out when observing Ms. Mathieu’s classroom is the positive relationships that she builds with her students and the hard work they produce for her. Ms. Mathieu is the architect and inventor for the Considerate Café which has served the community for years. Through the Café, she teaches students teamwork, communication skills, working under pressure, interacting with the public and many other soft skills needed in today’s service industry. She goes above and beyond to create a caring, supportive and engaging learning environment where every student feels valued and empowered to succeed. Ms. Mathieu initiated a partnership between Wild Hearts Equine Therapy. As more and more of our students deal with social and emotional issues, Ms. Mathieu sought out this unique service to help her students learn to regulate themselves, learn new things and have fun in the classroom environment in a respectable manner. Mr. Doug Williams 2024-2025 District Support Employee of the Year It is rare to come across an employee that does his bob with such a high degree of excellence. Mr. Doug not only works hard himself, but inspires others to give their best as well. His strong communication skills and his attention to details are just two of the reasons that Mr. Williams is an excellent leader among his custodial staff. Many meetings and events are held at HCTC, not only because of the new facility, but also because Mr. Doug will see to it that everything is in order from start to finish. He is indeed a great asset to the school district! Thank you Mr. Doug for all you do. Mr. Stanley Leroy 2024-2025 District Volunteer of the Year Mr. Leroy has volunteered in several capacities such as chaperoning field trips, driving the bus, in classrooms and as the sports photographer. One of our male teachers got sick before the overnight 8th grade field trip to Tennessee. Mr. LeRoy stepped up to chaperone so the students could be properly supervised. He has a positive attitude, flexible, dependable and has made tremendous contributions to Seneca Middle School. He has been a volunteer for sixteen years and has countless number of volunteer hours”. Elementary Induction Teacher of the Year Holly Smith It is said that Ms Smith is intentional about building relationships with her students and is prepared each morning she walks into her classroom. She went the extra mile by volunteering her time by being a part of her school’s musical committee. She strives to create a safe classroom environment and challenges her students to think outside of the box with a critical thinking mindset. She is creative, engages her students and values real-world learning. Secondary Induction Teacher of the Year Chris Bahr It is said that Mr. Bahr always came prepared to each meeting whether it was a pre-conference meeting for his evaluation or an IEP meeting for his SPED students. He pitched in with numerous school activities and did a great job at calling our school’s baseball games. He is compassionate for his students and always set high expectations for them and for himself. You will always find him smiling at his classroom door, but has also invested much effort into fine tuning his craft of teaching. He is adaptable, patient and focuses on his growth as an educator.
