Grades 3-5 Spring Testing Information
Grades 3-5 Spring Testing Information Dear Families & Guardians: This spring, Easton and Redding students in grades 3-8 will take the Smarter Balanced Assessment (SBA) in both mathematics and English language arts/literacy. Students in grades 5, 8, and 11 will take the Next Generation Science Standards Assessment (NGSS). All testing is administered online. Both SBA & NGSS will include testing accommodations for students requiring support through Individual Education Plans, Section 504 Plans, Multi-Tiered Systems of Support, or Multilingual Learner eligibility. SBA is untimed for all students, and additional days are incorporated into the schedule to allow all students to work at their own pace. SSES: Early Dismissal for Conferences
Dear SSES Families: This is a reminder that Samuel Staples Elementary School will dismiss at 12:40 PM on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday to accommodate Parent-Teacher Conferences. Please take a moment to ensure that your child’s dismissal plans are entered accurately in School Dismissal Manager so we can support a smooth and safe transition at the end of each day. Students will have lunch during these shortened days; however, there will be no recess. Our Spring Book Fair will be open to families during conference times. Please consider stopping by before or after your conference to explore teacher recommendations and classroom wish lists. The Book Fair will also remain open later on Wednesday, as needed. To ensure a smooth and safe dismissal process: Car line will begin at 12:30 p.m. Buses will arrive at the same time, and we will begin calling buses as soon as car line dismisses. At 12:45 p.m., any remaining bus students will be brought to the cafeteria once car line has cleared. For everyone's safety, we kindly ask parents not to approach the building during dismissal. Please wait in your car and away from the buses until dismissal is complete. Families attending conferences may enter the building starting at 12:55 p.m., once all buses have cleared. You can walk right to your child's classroom at this time. There is no need to sign-in because the students will not be in the school. Thank you for your cooperation and support in helping us maintain a safe and efficient process for our students and staff. Sincerely, Kimberly Fox Santora, Principal Christina Ulreich-Kean, Assistant Principal

Community Book Drive for Honduras
Dear SSES Families: As we head into the upcoming three-day weekend, I invite you to consider taking a few moments to look through your homes for new or gently used children’s books appropriate for students in Kindergarten through Grade 5 that you might consider donating. Our school community has an exciting opportunity to partner with the Joel Barlow High School Red Cross Club in a meaningful book drive that will benefit children in Honduras. By sharing books that have already inspired our own children, we can help spark curiosity, imagination, and confidence in young readers thousands of miles away. We hope you will join us in supporting this special initiative. Thank you, as always, for your partnership and for helping our students learn the importance of kindness, empathy, and global citizenship. Book Drive Link Enjoy your weekend with family and friends.
