  • Notice: District-Wide Student Transition Days

Hello Sweetwater Number One Families, The District will be conducting district-wide transition days on Thursday, May 21, 2026, for secondary students currently in grades 8–11, and again on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, for preschool, elementary, and junior high students currently in grades PreK–8. The purpose of these transition days is to provide students with successful strategies before the end of the school year as we prepare for next year. We recognize the importance of students developing positive relationships early on with new teachers, school staff, and fellow students. The goal of this day is to help reduce anxiety barriers many students may experience, even when remaining at the same school the following year. This transition time is designed to minimize the jitters students feel when moving to a new grade level or school. With only a few weeks remaining in the school year, we want students to ease into summer feeling familiar and confident about their placement for next year. Additional back-to-school events will be scheduled later in the summer. All District schools have collaborated so transition activities will occur at the same time. Students will be accompanied by teachers and school staff as they transition between classrooms or schools during their designated day. Thursday, May 21, 2026 – Secondary Transition Day (Grades 8–11) 1:10 p.m. – District buses arrive at RSJH, pick up students and teachers, and travel to RSHS or BBHS. 1:30 p.m. – 2:20 p.m. – Activities to be determined by RSHS and BBHS. Current 8th grade students will have the opportunity to visit Rock Springs High School or Black Butte High School. Students currently in grades 9–11 will also participate in transition activities. 2:30 p.m. – Buses load. Wednesday, May 27, 2026 – Elementary and Junior High Transition Day (PreK–8) 8:45 a.m. – District buses arrive at schools (Overland, Desert View, Walnut, Northpark, Stagecoach, Sage, Pilot Butte, Eastside, and RSJH for current 8th grade students only) to pick up students and teachers and transport them to the next school. 9:00 a.m. – 10:15 a.m. – Team-building and welcoming activities at schools. Incoming preschool and kindergarten students, along with their parents, are invited to visit their child’s home school to meet preschool teachers, kindergarten teachers, and the principal. Classroom activities will follow. Parents who have not yet registered their students at their home school are encouraged to do so before May 27 so they may participate in the morning’s events. Additional transition activities include: Current 3rd grade students traveling to Pilot Butte Elementary or Eastside Elementary based on their in-area school. Current 6th grade students from Pilot Butte and Eastside Elementary traveling to Rock Springs Junior High. Current 8th grade students from RSJH traveling to Rock Springs High School. 10:15 a.m. – Buses load. 10:30 a.m. – Buses return to home schools. Students transitioning within their current school will return to their homeroom teacher. Regular schedules will resume for the remainder of the day, and lunch schedules will not be affected. Additional information will be shared by your student’s building principal. We are excited for the extra support planned for students as they wind down the current school year and prepare for a successful transition into the 2026–2027 school year. Sincerely, Sweetwater Number One Leadership Team

We are actively working with our upstream provider to resolve the issue; however, we do not have an estimated time for restoration. Please note that internal calls (building-to-building) using extension dialing are functioning as normal. The outage only affects calls going to or from external numbers.
