Reopening of Schools
Dear Central Community, Last night, The Board of Trustees voted unanimously to delay the return of students until January to minimize disruption and avoid the flu season. Parent surveys will come out next week to help us prepare for the return of elementary students on January 11 and secondary students later in the spring. Additionally, the Board agreed to evaluate the health data at the December 15th meeting as the time for reopening approaches. We will continue to provide more information.

CentralUSD COVID-19 Update 3-18-2020
Dear Central Unified Families, Here is our latest update. Spanish and Punjabi translations will go out within the hour. [Wednesday, Mar 18 at 9:52 AM] We will send many answers to your questions throughout the day. Here are a few answers now. Q: Do our children have to do this packet or online learning? A: Our goal is to provide a structure for at-home learning so families have some easy-to-implement activities to prevent regression and learning loss during the break. Q: What if I can't pick up the packets? A: The packets are designed for families with no access to computers and/or the internet. Our online resources are very robust and intended for all families with computer and internet access. Q: Where at each of the six school sites can we pick-up packets? A: We will have the resources at the drop-off areas of Biola-P, CHS-E, Polk, Saroyan, Teague & Tilley. Again, we encourage parents to use the online resources if you have computer/internet. Q: Is the pick-up happening only on Thursday, 3/19? A: We will have pick-up at the six school sites from 11-1pm every day until further notice. To mitigate large gatherings, please use the online resources.

Free Meals for Children 1-18 & Student Medications
Dear Central Community, We wanted to remind you that as of tomorrow, March 16, all Central Unified Schools will be closed until April 20 in order to uphold the state's directive to maintain social distancing and reduce any community spread of COVID-19. During our school closures, we will offer free grab-and-go breakfasts and lunches to children 1-18 at six of our school sites from Monday-Friday, 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. at Biola-Pershing Elementary, Central High East, Tilley Elementary, Polk Elementary, Teague Elementary and Saroyan Elementary. Children MUST be present to pick-up meals. They can come with a parent or guardian or come without a parent (as we did for summer meals). Parents CANNOT pick up meals without their children present. We cannot accommodate special dietary restrictions but we WILL have vegetarian options. Also, to maintain social distancing, it would be best if children can take their meals home. FOR STUDENTS WITH MEDICATIONS: Parents can come to school sites on Monday, March 16, from 8am-4pm to retrieve any stored medication(s). In the meantime, continue to encourage your children to wash their hands and practice healthy hygiene habits to reduce the spread of germs. We will continue to send you updates here on ParentSquare, all of our websites, and social media. You can also call 559-313-4403 if you have additional questions. Thank you.
