URGENT: PLEASE READ - KG eLearning TODAY, Tuesday, A...
Good morning, Due to a pipe burst overnight, Kelvin Grove School will be e-learning today, Tuesday, April 22nd . Water to the entire school will need to be shut off throughout the school day to make the necessary repairs. Additionally, water-damaged areas impact many classrooms, and students cannot safely and comfortably learn in the school building today. Our team will be working with contractors to restore the plumbing and classroom spaces for student occupancy as soon as possible, and we will be in touch with updated information as it becomes available. Milne Grove School is not impacted by this change; students there will have classes in person today. Students who are in concert band or who have already been dropped off for tutoring or other morning activities will need to be picked up at 8:30am. KG Staff will need to check their district email for further information.

PTO Elections
Teamwork makes the dream work! Love being involved but worried about the time commitment? Good news! PTO roles can be shared with a friend or split by building—because in a small district like ours, we have to work together. Whether you’ve got a creative spark, love planning events, or just want to stay in the loop, there’s a place for YOU. Tag a friend you'd Team up with and let’s make next year amazing—for our Students, our Staff, and our Families! We've done so many amazing things thanks to awesome Parents like YOU. But here’s the truth: without someone stepping up as Secretary, our PTO will not continue. Our current President is willing to stay on for one mor year, but our board must stay full in order to maintain our tax-exempt status. If we don’t fill this role, the PTO will have to dissolve —and that means no more events, classroom support, Teacher Appreciation, or the extras that make our school special. The Secretary role can be shared with a friend or split by building—it's totally manageable, and you won’t be doing it alone. You’ll have support, guidance, and a Team that genuinely cares. If you’ve ever thought, “Someone should step up…” —maybe that someone is you. Message us, comment below, or stop us in the hall. Let’s keep the heart of our school community beating strong.

Dear D91 Parents and Community Members, We are thrilled to invite you to celebrate a momentous occasion for Milne Grove School! Join us as we break ground on our exciting new school addition, a project that will provide a new secure entrance, elevator, and a second-floor conference room for the 2025-26 school year. This addition represents a significant investment in the future of our students and our community, and we would be honored to share this special day with you. Following the groundbreaking, we invite you to stay for an opportunity to take pictures with the ceremonial hard hats and shovels for your own memory books. We look forward to celebrating this exciting milestone together! Sincerely, D91 Board of Education and Administration

Let's Grow!
Let's face it: the planet needs a little TLC. And you know what’s better than a tree hug? Planting a tree! Here’s the deal: for just $10 you can help plant a tree that will literally save the planet. That’s right! Each tree is like a tiny green superhero, fighting air pollution, providing shade, and making your Instagram photos look better. Why should you donate? Trees give us oxygen – so, you know, we can breathe. Kind of important. They help fight climate change by absorbing CO2. That's like your tree going to a yoga class and getting all zen with the environment. They provide habitats for animals. Basically, you're offering squirrels apartments. Trees create beauty and peace. (Also, they are fun to climb.) So, what are you waiting for? Give future generations something enjoy! Let’s make the world a little greener – one tree at a time. Donate now and help us plant a forest… or at least a really cool yard! [Sunday, Apr 6 at 10:20 AM] C’mon D91! We can do better than this! TEN bucks for a TREE?! That’s an absolute steal! You know someone buying a house? Got an earth-loving grad in your life? Trees make the perfect gift! Only 4 days left to grab yours and throw some shade! Let’s make it happen! Get your tree today!

D91 Construction Projects Starting Soon!
Dear D91 Families, In the spring of 2023, our community voted in support of a 2.5 million dollar bond that would specifically be used to: alter, repair, and equip the existing facilities of the district to enhance security at both buildings replace portions of the roof at Kelvin Grove improve the accessibility under the Americans with Disabilities Act at Milne Grove install central air conditioning systems at both school buildings make general improvements at both school buildings to enhance the educational opportunities The district has been invested in a fiscally responsible and deliberate approach to allocate funding towards building improvements. A timeline has been established to ensure projects will be completed by the fall of 2025. A few minor projects have already taken place, but the extensive work will be taking place this summer at both buildings. The first major project will be taking place over Spring Break, with work starting at 4pm this Friday, March 21, 2025, as students and staff leave for the week. Here is a list of projects as well as a tentative project completion date: Project Description Project Timeline Relocation of MG main office to be adjacent to the west entrance. New office door and windows installed. New faculty lounge. Renovation of the old main office into a “Reset” room for students to have a safe place to cool down and reset to return to the classroom. Fall 2024 New security camera system at MG/KG. Fall 2024 *Abatement of asbestos ceiling tiles at MG in all classrooms, floor tiles in the west stairwell, and the floor tiles in KG classrooms that will be getting central HVAC this summer (4/5/Band/Music). March 22-30, 2025 New construction of secure entry, elevator, and conference room at MG (addition to be located where the current visitor parking is by Door G). April 18 - August 8, 2025 Installation of central HVAC at MG and in the 4th/5th/Band/Music rooms at KG. May 28 - August 8, 2025 Roof replacement at KG over the junior high wing, library/pod classrooms, and main office. June 2 - July 25, 2025 Updates in KG junior high wing classrooms to include floor refinishing & painting of accent walls. May 27-July 31, 2025 Updates in MG classrooms to include floor refinishing, painting of ceiling tile grids, and installation of new ceiling tiles. August 9-20, 2025 *The most immediate project taking place will be at Milne Grove starting this Friday evening as students and staff leave for spring break. This will involve the abatement of asbestos ceiling tiles in all classrooms at Milne Grove and floor tiles in the MG west stairwell as well as the KG classrooms that will get new HVAC units installed this summer. The KG floor tiles will only involve a few located in the space by the windows where the new univents will be installed. With the projects outlined above, we are doing our best to have as little disruption to the current school year as possible, however, there will be some minor changes when we return from spring break, specifically at Milne Grove. Those changes will include: MG classes will not have ceiling tiles re-installed until the HVAC project is completed over the summer. The classrooms will have an open ceiling look, similar to what is in the KG junior high classrooms. The ceilings will have been thoroughly cleaned, vacuumed, and clear of any dust particles as required by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for any asbestos removal project before allowing clearance for staff and students back into the rooms after spring break. MG morning drop-off for Oasis, breakfast, and tutoring will have a slightly altered door entrance. More details to come. For our Milne Grove families , please look for additional information regarding updates on the morning drop-off as well as some visitor parking changes. We are very excited about all the work to be done in the upcoming months. Attached you will find the approved school calendar dates for the 2025-26 school year that will accommodate the project timelines. Please be on the lookout for updates along the way, very exciting times ahead for D91, Go Hornets! Sincerely, Dr. Kathleen Wilkey Superintendent
