Thank you, Officer Ganger & Officer Henning! Lockport District 91 is fortunate to have two of the most caring community outreach officers around! Whether they are building relationships with students and staff, ensuring we are safe at school, teaching the Too Good for Drugs program, helping with our arrival and dismissal, or any of the other wonderful things they do - Officer Andy and Officer Debbie always have a kind word and smile to share with our Hornet community. If you see these very special individuals around, please make sure to share your appreciation!
We know it's early, but Mrs. B & Mrs. Tumino are excited to share that the TWO DAY BOGO Book Fair & Bakery is on and poppin' for May 9th and 10th. Please add it to your calendars and stock up for summer reading, too!

Hello families! Will County mobile dental unit is scheduled to be at MG & KG on February 15th and February 20th. The unit is equipped with digital x-ray technology, 2 dental chairs, and computers. The mobile dental unit team is able to provide x-rays, cleaning, fillings, extractions, etc. The upcoming visit will allow students to have x-rays taken and a cleaning performed. The mobile dental unit allows for children to have their dental work performed without parents having to provide transportation and take time off of work. The mission of the Mobile Dental Unit is to provide preventative and primary dental services to families to prevent serious dental problems. Serious and emergent dental concerns lead to pain, serious infection in the body, and missed time from a child's education. Will County Health Department's dental team strives to prevent these concerns by offering routine dental services and educating children and families about the importance oral hygiene. Will County Health Dept. will accept payment from your private health insurance, Medicaid payment, or bill you later if you are self pay. If you do not have dental insurance, Will County Health Dept. will bill you using a sliding scale based on income. Payment is not required on the day services are provided. This exam and cleaning provided by the Will County Dentistry staff will cover the upcoming dental requirement for Kindergarten, 2nd grade, and 6th grade. We do need to have 8 students, from each building, signed up for and exam and cleaning to ensure we can provide services at both locations. Please contact Mrs. Olson or myself for more information. The required paperwork is attached here or we can send it home with your child(ren). Required paperwork is due in the Health office no later than Friday, February 9, 2024.

Dear D91 Parent/Guardians, Second trimester progress reports have been emailed to parents/guardians today. Please take a moment to check your email to view your child(ren)’s progress at this time and thank you for your patience as we worked through the technology glitches to get those sent out. Next, we would like to send caution as the weather temperatures continue to hover around freezing, this could cause some ice patches to form. Both Milne and Kelvin Grove parking lots and sidewalks have been salted multiple times already during the day and will be again during dismissal. Please take extra caution during pick-up today as we are doing our best to keep everyone safe during dismissal. Finally, with the latest hourly forecast that was provided by the National Weather Service, we are anticipating the possibility of a line of ice coming into the area overnight and into the morning hours. It is very hard to determine at this time, considering the temps will be right around freezing so it can either bring rain or ice. We will continue to monitor the storm system and if something drastically changes overnight, we will notify you no later than 6am if there is a change in plans. The safety of our students and staff are our top priority, so please know that these decisions whether or not we open or close our schools are not taken lightly. In the event the roads are not safe to travel tomorrow morning, Tuesday January 23rd and we need to close the schools, we will utilize an eLearning day to continue forward with uninterrupted learning. As always, thank you for your understanding and support. Go Hornets! Sincerely, Dr. Kathleen Wilkey Superintendent
