Merkel ISD Cancels Classes and Activities for Januar...
In anticipation of severe weather conditions, Merkel ISD will cancel all classes and activities on Thursday, January 9, 2025. This decision was made with the safety of our students and staff as our top priority. While we cannot accurately predict the weather, we can make informed decisions to prioritize everyone’s well-being. Activities scheduled for Friday are expected to proceed as planned unless weather conditions remain a concern. Further updates will be posted on ParentSquare, Facebook, and local news media sources. Homecoming Pep Rally
We will have our homecoming pep rally on Thursday, 10/3 at 9:25 am in the high school gym. This will be a combined pep rally for both high school and middle school. Doors will open for visitors a little before 9:15 am at door 4 on the north end of the gym. Our seating will be a little different for this pep rally. The high school student section will sit on the south end of the home side and the middle school student section will sit on the north end of the home side. All visitors will sit in the middle section of the home side including alumni. All elementary students will be on the visitor's side this week. We are looking forward to everyone coming out and supporting our Merkel Badgers.

STAYING SAFE -- SCHOOL SAFETY RESPONSE
Merkel ISD is dedicated to the safety and well-being of our students. This fall, we will introduce a student safety response curriculum, developed in collaboration with the Texas School Safety Center, Safe and Sound Schools—founded by parents of Sandy Hook victims—and the Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training Center at Texas State University. This curriculum will provide students with age-appropriate strategies to handle potential school threats. We recognize the significance of this matter and respect your right to make informed decisions about your child’s participation. To review the curriculum, please join us for an informational town hall on Monday, September 16, 2024, at 6:00 PM at MHS .
