Read-A-Thon Pledge Pages and Prizes

Hello Hope Families! The link to your student's Read-A-Thon Pledge Page will be emailed today and all participants will be given this special edition Summer Read-A-Thon button! We'll be distributing the buttons at Welcome Day  on August 20th , when prizes will be awarded. OUR FUNDRAISING GOAL Our Read-A-Thon goal this year is to reach $5,000 . As a reminder, money raised will help bridge the budget gap towards operating costs for this school year. PRIZES Tiny Dragons-2nd Grade The top reader from this grade group will be awarded the 20th Century Children's Book Treasury and the if the overall top reader in the school is in this grade group, they will be awarded a Luka® Reading Robot!   Luka® recognizes and reads over 20,000 English picture books, and over 70,000 Chinese titles. 3rd-5th Grade & 6th-8th Grade The top readers from the 3rd-5th grade and 6th-8th grade groups will receive a copy of a book from their grade division's 2026-2027 OBOB Title List! The overall top reader will be awarded the  COMPLETE SET of OBOB books from their grade division's Title List! NEXT STEPS Your student can start gathering books or other reading material and check your email to set up their personal Pledge Page. Reading materials can be in English or Chinese, including: Magazines Textbooks Book reports Graphic novels, or any other appropriately leveled picture book Novels Chapter books Send your student's Pledge Page link to friends and family From August 10th-16th -   students track reading minutes on their private profile management page: How Students/Parents Log Minutes Access the Private Page: When the fundraiser starts, you will receive an invitation email containing a link to your student's private profile management page. Go to the "Track" Tab: On your student's dashboard, navigate to the Track tab. Log Time: Enter the number of minutes read for specific days (or a cumulative total) HOW TO DONATE Supporters of your student's Read-A-Thon will submit their donations online through your student's Pledge Page. Cash or checks for a flat donation amount can be given directly to the front desk. Please include a note with the student’s full name, class, and indicate that the donation is for the Read-A-Thon. Exciting Update on Property Scoping

The Board and Property Committee are excited to share important progress in our search for a better facility for Hope! After careful negotiations with the seller, we have reached an accepted Letter of Intent (LOI) for a potential new building in central Beaverton. This marks a meaningful step toward securing a permanent home for Hope Chinese Charter School. While this is an exciting milestone, there are still important steps ahead. The legal teams will now work to finalize a Purchase and Sale Agreement (PSA), which will include contingencies that allow us to begin an extensive due diligence period in which we can ultimately confirm if this is the right property for HCCS. Once the PSA is in place (hopefully in 2-3 weeks), we’ll be able to publicly share many more details about this timeline and the property itself!   Join the Capital Campaign Action Team One critical piece to making this new home a reality for Hope, is the support of our community and your extended networks for a successful capital campaign. In last night’s public meeting, the Board also approved launching the first phase of this campaign, and we are excited to begin this journey together. We are seeking dedicated volunteers to join the campaign action team, who will play an active role in bringing this vision to life. Whether you’re an artist, a communicator, a planner, or a numbers whiz, your unique skills can help drive our project forward through outreach, events, and strategic support. Only requirements: ·          Work at your own pace : Most of our work is asynchronous. ·          Stay connected : We meet virtually once a week (likely Mondays at 8 PM) for "huddles" for trainings, brainstorming, team coordination, and essential voting quorum. ·         Get started : Join this Thursday, April 9th, 4:00 PM for a special  webinar on The Lifecycle of a Capital Project from Rose City Philanthropy.  Again, all are welcome ! Students, faculty, staff, parents, grandparents, colleagues, and family friends—anyone who is passionate about making an impact for Hope students for generations to come—your talents are needed. How We Grow Support for Hope

Grace's Story How one invitation sparked great generosity. January 21, 2026 Back in 2016... Grace Liu was invited to the Xi Wang Gala by her boss, Jeremy, whose grandchildren attend Hope. That night, Grace was impressed with our school and the impact of the Gala. Last year, Grace came back to the Gala and once again, was inspired by the strong and generous community at Hope. This year, Grace and her husband George are generously donating their Oregon coast vacation home for our Live Auction. Check it out! Who can you invite? A friend, colleague or neighbor? Here are a few items to highlight but there are more options in the store!  Please Note: Once the store closes, Valley Athletics will begin bulk production and decoration. Orders typically ship within 17–20 days after the store closes. Shipping Options: Ship to Home – Delivered directly to your address.
