PSA: City of Merced Current Traffic Advisories
Current traffic advisories for the City of Merced that may impact transportation times during the week. Many neighborhood streets nearby the most heavily affected schools will experience an influx of traffic as people attempt to avoid the construction. We ask that you remain cautious of all families whose children will continue to walk or ride their bike to and from school each day. Allow for additional travel time, slow down, be patient, and abide by the temporary changes in effect to enhance the overall conditions of our growing city. Schools that may be most heavily Impacted by this project: Reyes Elementary, Sheehy Elementary, Stowell Elementary, Tenaya Middle, and Wright Elementary A portion of Main Street and Canal Street to progress on important infrastructure improvements as part of ongoing city upgrades. Closure Details: Location: Main Street, from "M" Street to “K” Street, and Canal Street from Arbor Lane to Main Street Start Date: Monday, April 28, 2025 Planned Completion Date: May 2nd Schools that may be heavily impacted by this project: Peterson Elementary, Chenoweth Elementary, and Cruickshank Middle Roadway construction on Yosemite Ave from G Street to Parsons Ave. to enhance traffic flow, roadway conditions, sewer system upgrades, etc. Closure Details: Start Date: April 21, 2025 Planned Completion Date: October 1, 2025 Additional updates will be shared as the project moves forward. City of Merced Construction - BEGINS TODAY
MCSD Staff and Families, Beginning TODAY, April 14 the City of Merced is set to begin roadway construction on Yosemite Ave. Because this is a highly utilized transportation route for many of our MCSD staff and families we want to encourage you to plan accordingly as traffic delays are expected. Schools that will be heavily impacted are Peterson Elementary, Chenoweth Elementary, and Cruickshank Middle. Many neighborhood streets nearby the most heavily affected schools will experience an influx of traffic as people attempt to avoid the construction. We ask that you remain cautious of all families whose children will continue to walk or ride their bike to and from school each day. Allow for additional travel time, slow down, be patient, and abide by the temporary changes in effect to enhance the overall conditions of our growing city. We will have a free clinic on Saturday, January 25, 2025 at the Golden Valley Health Center on Childs Avenue in Merced. It is an honor to provide equitable access for every child in our District to participate in extracurricular sports as we support both the physical and mental wellness of our students. As outlined in MCSD Board Policy 5145.13 and AR 5145.13 , District staff are strictly prohibited from soliciting or collecting information about the citizenship or immigration status of students or their family members. Additionally, staff are not authorized to assist with immigration enforcement activities at our schools unless explicitly required by State or Federal law (Education Code 234.7). We want to assure you that our school community will adhere to all legal guidelines while ensuring the well-being and safety of our students should a Federal law enforcement agency approach any of our schools seeking information about citizenship or immigration status.
