  • Rangers Connect: Forgiveness and Redemption

Rangers Connect: Forgiveness and Redemption Dear SRA Parents, Students, and Staff, This month at Santa Rosa Academy, we are focusing on the important character trait of Forgiveness and Redemption. Please join me to discuss how we can help our Rangers to develop these important attributes in their youth, and how we as adults can model these qualities for them. Remember Mahatma Gandhi's words, “The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong.” With Santa Rosa Pride, Robert Hennings, Ed.D. • From Coach Torres's Corral: Update from CIF - Indoor...

From Coach Torres's Corral: Update from CIF - Indoor Sports Dear SRA Families, Santa Rosa Academy Athletic Department is monitoring the fluid changes during these COVID- 19 times, and  I wanted to give you some insights that you may not know. California has resumed all sports, including Indoor Sport, due to a San Deigo lawsuit settlement. Even though the Newspapers and CIFSS have released the notices that all indoors may resume, there are strict guidelines and protocols that Santa Academy must adhere to. My first and only concern is our Athletes, Coaches, Support Staff, Staff, and Parents’ safety. We are still waiting for the Riverside County of Public Health to update its decision as if supersedes CIFSS and the CDPH for our county. The following are excerpts from the CIFSS and the CDPH. CIF member schools may elect to resume all indoor sports and outdoor sports in counties with an adjusted case rate of greater than 14 per 100,000 if the team adheres to the additional requirements specified in the Institutions of Higher Education (IHE) Guidance dated September 30, 2020. The following is the CIF’s interpretation with respect to when outdoor and indoor sports may resume according to the updated youth sports guidance document issued by the California Department of Public Health on March 4, 2021. Updates since 02/19/2021 Updated on March 4, 2021, to add requirements that go into effect March 5, 2021, that would: Require masking for youth and adult sports participants, coaches, and support staff. Specify that teams can return to competition only if they adhere to the stricter requirements in place for college teams, which include rigorous testing requirements around each competition, following contact tracing protocols, and coordination with local health authorities. Summary: COVID-19 continues to pose a severe risk to communities and requires all people in California to follow recommended precautions. This guidance provides direction on outdoor and indoor youth and recreational adult sports activities to support a safe environment for these sports. The guidance applies to all organized youth sports and recreation— including school- and community-sponsored programs, and privately-organized clubs and leagues — and adult recreational sports (hereafter youth and adult sports). This guidance does not apply to collegiate or professional sports. Additionally, this guidance does not apply to community events, such as marathons, half-marathons, and endurance races. Inter-team competitions (i.e., between two teams) resumed in California beginning January 25, 2021.   The guidelines outlined in this document shall take effect on February 26, 2021, as updated, effective March 5, 2021. The status of return-to-competition is subject to change at any time given the level of COVID-19 transmission in California. With respect to testing, CIF member schools must conduct weekly antigen or PCR testing in the sports of water polo and football when the adjusted case rate of their county is between 14 and 7 per 100,000.
