  • All District Field Trips Cancelled Through January

Dear District Families, We are writing to inform you that all district field trips scheduled for the  month of January  have been canceled. Recent federal enforcement activity across the Twin Cities metro area has created unpredictable and rapidly changing conditions in several areas. Out of an abundance of caution, and with student safety as our highest priority, we believe it is best to pause all field trips at this time. Thank you for your understanding and support as we work to keep all students safe. In Partnership, Dr. Jenny Loeck Superintendent

  • A Message from Dr. Jenny Loeck

Dear Roseville Area Schools Families, Recent reports of ICE activity in the Twin Cities metro area coupled with the tragic death of a Minneapolis resident by an ICE agent have created a lot of stress and worry throughout our school community. We understand how heavy this feels, and we want you to know that we care deeply about the impact this situation is having on all of you. Our schools and our staff remain committed to being warm, welcoming places where every student feels safe and supported. I want to be clear about how and when you will hear from us.  If we ever confirm that ICE agents are at one of our district schools, we will immediately let families at that school know.  If you hear a rumor about ICE at your child’s school but have not received an alert from the school or district, you can trust that the rumor is not true. Here is a brief overview of what our staff will do if ICE agents arrive at a school: Staff will alert a school administrator immediately and agents will be kept in the main entrance or main office. They won’t enter the school. The school administrator gathers basic information of why the agents are at the school. District leadership is contacted immediately to provide support. The school administrator checks for a valid judicial warrant. If the agent does  not  have a warrant or subpoena, the school administrator denies access to students and records and updates district leadership. If the agent has a warrant or subpoena, district leadership reviews it to confirm that it is a judicial warrant (signed by a judge) before determining next steps. If the request involves a lawful subpoena for records, the district must provide the records, but families are notified first. A phone call will be made before any information is shared. if ICE agents are seen near district bus stops: Starting Monday, January 12, school buses will leave the drop-off point with the students and drop them off at a district location that hosts a Friendship Connection site. Families will be contacted immediately with next steps to pick up their children. It’s important to understand that while we will always notify you if ICE is at or affecting one of our schools, we cannot provide updates about ICE activity in the broader community. We know this can be frustrating, especially when community reports create fear, but we need to make sure that any information we share is accurate and connected to school safety. I want to acknowledge Governor Walz’s proclamation of today as a Day of Unity, encouraging all Minnesotans and Americans to take part in acts of service in honor and remembrance of Renee Nicole Good, the woman who was tragically killed on January 7. The spirit of unity and shared responsibility reflected in this call to action gives me hope and reinforces that we are doing the right work—standing together for our community. For those who are looking for additional ways to contribute in the community, a local resource you may consider is Do Good Roseville ( https://dogoodroseville.com/ ), which serves as a central hub for community support efforts connected to our students, families, and staff. Thank you for your partnership as we navigate a stressful and uncertain time together. We are here for your children, and we will continue doing everything we can to create caring and supportive school environments for every student, every day. News for December 3, 2025 Side-by-Side: RAMS & RAHS Orchestras Unite 🎻✨ Roseville Area Middle School 8th grade orchestra students were treated to a performance by the wonderful Roseville Area High School Symphony Orchestra directed by Dr. Christopher Jannings—and had the chance to play side-by-side with them on the John J. Thein Auditorium stage. Click the video below to listen in! According to Dr. Colleen Bertsch, director of the RAMS orchestras, the collaboration was a wonderful way to introduce the RAMS musicians to the RAHS music department and to continue building a strong sense of community across Roseville Area Schools’ orchestra program.   Honoring Global Human Rights Human Rights Day, observed globally each year on December 10, is an important reminder of the shared values that ground our work. First proclaimed by the United Nations in 1948, the day honors the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights—an affirmation that every person is entitled to dignity, safety, opportunity, and belonging. Taking a moment to recognize this day recenters us on what matters most: creating environments where every student and every staff member is valued and supported. This commitment aligns directly with our district’s strategic plan, especially Goal #2: Our learners contribute to an equitable, caring society, and Goal #3: We are a culturally responsive, inclusive, anti-racist district. Across our schools and programs, we strive daily to live these values through relationships, instruction, and the ways we show up for one another. Human Rights Day invites us to view our efforts through a global lens, reaffirming that the work we do locally contributes to a broader, worldwide movement toward justice and humanity. In Partnership, Dr. Jenny Loeck   🎉 Celebrating 50 Years of IDEA! 🎉 Yesterday marked the 50th anniversary of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act—a landmark law that ensured children with disabilities have access to a free and appropriate public education and the support they need to thrive. 💙 We also celebrate the incredible educators and staff who make this promise real every single day. Special Education Day is a moment to honor both this milestone and the people who help our students learn, grow, and belong. 🌟   Roseville Area Schools Food & Personal Products Drive – December 1-12 Roseville Area Schools is honored to host a food drive to support the Roseville Area Schools Food Shelf, located at Roseville Area High School. With students and families who depend on reliable access to essential food and personal care items, we deeply appreciate being part of a community that supports every family with compassion. From December 1-12, every school and building in Roseville Area Schools will have a collection bin in its main office. For a list compiled by district staff that represents the items most often requested and needed by students and families, click the button below. We are deeply grateful for our community and the generosity you show through your time, talents, and support. 🔗 Food Drive Information   From Nashke Games to Wild Rice Bowls: Celebrating Indigenous Traditions A key part of Harambee’s Native American Heritage Month celebration continued during intersession. Staff from Tanan Wotapi Miniwanjigedaa (They Eat Well Kitchen) joined the 1st- and 2nd-grade Kaleidoscope classes for a hands-on experience with Indigenous foods. Students learned about the traditions of harvesting wild rice and maple syrup, then made and tasted their own wild rice berry bowls. According to Jenny Eckman, Harambee's environmental education specialist, this wonderful experience was funded through the Roseville Area Community Foundation's Heritage Month Celebration Grant. "It was so incredible to see the kids making connections between what we learned earlier in the month with Nashke games and the foods we were learning about and tasting!" Eckman exclaimed.   ’Tis the Season for Gratitude…and Egg Rolls! Members of the Roseville Area Middle School Asian American Student Collective celebrated a beloved Thanksgiving-week tradition: making 2,500 egg rolls for the group's 14th Annual RAMS Egg Roll Fundraiser. Under the guidance of advisors Bo Vue and Mai Chue Xiong, students, staff, and volunteers chopped veggies, prepared noodles, and rolled egg rolls—a community-building effort everyone looks forward to each year!   Brimhall Students Experience Women’s Hockey on the Big Stage at Mariucci Arena Brimhall Elementary’s entire 5th grade attended the Gophers vs. Bemidji State women’s hockey game on Friday, November 14—a special noon matchup moved to Mariucci Arena to accommodate more than 5,000 students from a number of schools. Brimhall was fortunate to secure enough tickets for all 5th grade students, teachers, a para, and chaperones. For many, the highlight was experiencing women’s hockey on such a big stage and seeing diverse athletes and officials represented. "Hockey has traditionally been a sport that is hard for families with limited resources and privilege to access, but women's hockey in Minnesota has been on the forefront of breaking down some of those barriers," explained Ashley Bray, a 5th grade teacher. "We are so grateful to the University of Minnesota women's program for hosting this day, and giving kids the opportunity to watch some of the best in the world in action –including some Olympians who will play for Team USA in February!"   Roseville Area Schools does not discriminate on the basis of sex and prohibits sex discrimination in any education program or activity that it operates, including in employment, as required by Title IX.
