Avella Students Represent at Student Forum
Congratulations to the following Avella students who participated in this year's Student Forum through Intermediate Unit 1: Seniors: Brayden Fuller, Kamden Jeffers, Jeromiah McClain Juniors: Tristan Davis, Paisley Downey Sophomores: Hannah Amaismeier, Emily Buel Student Forum brings together student leaders from Washington, Fayette, and Greene Counties to discuss leadership topics, school-related issues, post-secondary planning, and service learning opportunities. The group meets six times throughout the school year, giving students the chance to collaborate, share ideas, and develop important leadership skills. A special congratulations goes to Kamden Jeffers, who received the Scholar Leader Recognition from Student Forum for his outstanding leadership and dedication. The March meeting marks the final gathering of the year and includes a banquet where seniors are recognized, new officers are elected, and student leaders are honored while sharing a celebratory lunch together. We are proud of these students for representing Avella and demonstrating leadership both in an out of the classroom!

Follow the Dolanch Sisters at the State Tournament!
Avella wrestlers Abigail Dolanch (Junior) and Gabby Dolanch (Freshman) are competing today at the PIAA Individual Wrestling Championships in Hershey! The sisters qualified for states after strong performances at the PIAA West Region Girls Wrestling Tournament held at Mt. Lebanon High School, where: 🥈 Abigail Dolanch placed 2nd 🏅 Gabby Dolanch placed 4th This year marks the 89th Annual PIAA Individual Wrestling Championships, and just the third year that Girls Wrestling has been included in the event. Abigail and Gabby are among 208 female student-athletes competing for a state title, with 16 wrestlers in each of the 13 weight classes. Avella Winter Guard Sweeps the Competition!
The Avella Winter Guard Middle School and High School teams had an incredible performance this past Saturday (2/21/26) at McGuffey High School -- and we are proud to announce that both divisions earned 1st place! 🥇🥇 Competing primarily in Tournament Indoor Association (TIA) Region 8, our guards continue to represent Avella with outstanding talent, precision, and dedication. Their hard work, long practices, and commitment to excellence truly paid off the floor this weekend. Wrestlers Advancing to PJW & PIAA State Tournaments!
We are proud to announce that several of our Junior High and Senior High wrestlers are advancing to the next level of competition after strong performances at their respective qualifiers! 🤼♀️ Junior High – Headed to the PJW State Tournament Our Jr. High wrestlers will compete this weekend at the PJW State Tournament in Johnstown. Avella Girls Wrestlers Headed to Regionals!
Congratulations to Avella’s own Abigail Dolanch (Junior) and Gabby Dolanch (Freshman) for their outstanding performances at the WPIAL Girls Wrestling Tournament this past weekend! 🥈 Abigail Dolanch earned an impressive 2nd Place finish. 🥉 Gabby Dolanch battled her way to a strong 6th Place finish. Because of their success, both sisters have advanced to the PIAA West Region Tournament , which will be held this Saturday, February 28 at Mt. Lebanon High School . We are incredibly proud of their hard work, determination, and the way they represent Avella with heart and grit. Avella NHS Participating in Sweet & Savory Sunday - ...
The National Honor Society will once again participate in Sweet & Savory Sunday this weekend on Sunday, February 22 , from 12:00–5:00 PM at the Hilton Garden Inn Pittsburgh/Southpointe. This family-fun event supports the Washington City Mission and its important work in our community. It has been an NHS tradition to make chocolate-covered pretzels for this annual occasion, and our chapter is excited to continue that tradition again this year. Avella FFA Shines at Home CDE Competition
On Wednesday, February 11, Avella proudly hosted California, Fort Cherry, McGuffey, and Trinity for two Career Development Events (CDEs) — and our students delivered an outstanding performance! 🐾 Vet Science CDE Out of 48 competitors, our students placed: 🥈 Aaron Ruffalo – 2nd 🥉 Tommy Throckmorton – 3rd 🏅 Logan Carter – 4th 🏅 Karinne Fischer – 5th 🏅 Dakota McCullough – 6th 🏅 Paisley Downey – 7th 🏅 Aeolian Rudland – 9th Connor Ruffalo – 12th Ashlyn McDougan – 17th (tie) Ma Kenna Northcraft – 17th (tie) Jacob Paradise – 18th Morgan Cowden – 31st As part of the competition, teams presented to PETA, explaining why raising market animals is not inhumane. Out of 12 teams, our results were: 🥇 Team A (Karinne, Dakota, Aaron, Connor) – 1st Place 🥉 Team B (Tommy, Aeolian, Paisley, Jacob) – 3rd Place 🏅 Team C (Morgan, Logan, Ma Kenna, Ashlyn) – 6th Place 🌎 Environment & Natural Resources CDE Our four members also had an impressive showing: 🥇 Blain Mace – 1st Place Wildlife 🏅 Rowyn Scott – 4th Place Wildlife 🏅 Cody Clegg – 7th Place Aquatics 🏅 Cody Day – 10th Place Aquatics As a team, they earned 🥈 2nd Place Overall for their collaborative water management plan.
