Welcome to the Fifth Grade Center from Dr. Hadfield
Greetings Fourth Grade Families, I hope your family is enjoying the excitement and energy that comes with the final stretch of the school year and the beginning of summer ahead. As the incoming principal of the Fifth Grade Center, I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself and share how excited I am to welcome your child to the FGC community! I began my career teaching third and fifth grade in Columbia, Missouri and Colorado before joining the Ladue School District in 2004. During my time in Ladue, I spent seven years teaching in the classroom setting at Reed Elementary, followed by twelve years teaching Physical Education, much of it here at the Fifth Grade Center. I am currently serving as the Assistant Principal at Conway Elementary. Having previously worked at the FGC, this building has always held a special place in my heart. Fifth grade is such an important transition year as students continue to grow in independence, confidence, leadership, and identity. Along with supporting students socially and emotionally, we are equally committed to helping every child experience meaningful academic growth and reach their full potential as learners. Our goal is to create an environment where every child feels safe, known, respected, and a true sense of belonging. You will also be hearing more from me throughout the summer as we share important information, upcoming events, and opportunities to help your family prepare for the transition to the FGC. As we begin preparing for next year, please know that a great deal of thought, care, and collaboration goes into the class placement process. Our administrative team and counselor have spent time visiting each elementary school and meeting with fourth grade teachers, counselors, and support staff to learn about every child as an individual learner. We believe every student brings unique strengths, interests, learning styles, and experiences that help shape a strong classroom community. In addition to gathering input from school staff, we also value the perspective of families and the insight you can provide about your child. Attached to this message is a brief form where you are invited to share information that may help us better understand your child’s strengths, interests, and hopes for the year ahead. Thank you for your partnership and trust as we begin this exciting next chapter together. We are looking forward to welcoming your child to the Fifth Grade Center. Warmly, Dr. Tom Hadfield Principal Fifth Grade Center Fifth Grade Center Student Information Form

May 15, 2026 Edition This Week's News Student & Staff Standouts Information for Parents & Community Events: Sports & Activities Safety & Security Quick Links Board Briefs Important Dates Special Education Events/Workshops Graduation LiveStream Link Greetings, Ladue Schools community! The Ladue Horton Watkins High School Class of 2026 had an outstanding rehearsal for graduation this morning, and immediately following, students visited their former elementary schools, inspiring the next generation and thanking their former teachers. As you know, graduation is this Sunday, May 17 at 2 p.m. If you cannot attend the ceremony in person to cheer on our graduates, please use this link to the LiveStream from Chaifetz Arena. Ladue Graduation 2026 DESE State Leaders Explore Innovation and Advocacy at Ladue Schools This past Monday, May 11, Ladue Schools, Missouri’s top-ranked district, welcomed Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Commissioner Dr. Karla Eslinger and the State Board of Education for a visit centered on classroom innovation and legislative advocacy. The morning highlighted two flagship achievements: Spoede Elementary: Celebrated for its remarkable growth in mathematics and its status as a Louie Award recipient. Ladue Horton Watkins High School: Showcased as a 2026 National Green Ribbon School, where the delegation explored student-led sustainability and "future-ready" STEAM facilities. Led by student ambassadors and building principals, the tour provided state officials with a clear view of how future-ready environments support student agency and collaboration. However, the day was defined by more than just tours; it served as a platform for Superintendent Dr. Jim Wipke alongside district administrators and the Ladue Schools Board of Education to discuss the "unintended challenges" of recent legislation. “It was a productive dialogue about the real-world impact of state policy,” said Dr. Wipke. “By sharing the district's successes and candidly discussing the complexities facing public education today, Ladue Schools ensured that the local perspective remains at the forefront of the State Board’s decision-making process. We are grateful for their time and commitment to witnessing the exceptional work happening within our community,” he concluded. By bridging the gap between Jefferson City and the classroom, Ladue Schools continues to lead not only in academic excellence but in vital advocacy for Missouri’s public education system. Read more. She does what she does because it makes her happy to not only deliver the work, but it also makes her even happier to see the product at the end of the school year when students continue to progress.” The Excellence in Education Award recognizes outstanding Ladue Schools teachers and faculty and is awarded monthly at each school. FGC Updates for 4th Grade Families
Greetings 4th Grade Families, Our LFGCA, Administrative and Counseling Team are excited to meet many of you this week. You have two opportunities to come to the FGC to meet your child’s new principal, assistant principal and counselor along with learning more about our program and how you can get involved with our parent association next year. To ensure that we accommodate family schedules and availability, we’ve planned both an evening and morning welcome session. We will be hosting these welcome events on the following dates: Thursday, April 23 at 6:00 p.m. in the Main FGC gymnasium Friday, April 24 at 9:00 a.m. in the FGC cafeteria After information is shared, parents will have an opportunity to do the following: 1. Sign up for LFGCA positions and volunteer opportunities for the 2026-2027 school year. 2. Shop at our DRAGON DEN (School store filled with Ladue/FGC Apparel, souvenirs and students’ favorite items). 3. Meet other parents as your children will be learning together for the next 8 years of their educational journey in the Ladue School District. Please remember that both welcome events are hosted for PARENTS ONLY as our upcoming 5th graders will be visiting the FGC in May. If for any reason you are unable to attend any of the informational platforms next week, more activities and events will be provided in the future to ensure ample opportunities for building and staff connections. If you have any further questions or need additional information, please do not hesitate to contact me at pwilson@ladueschools.net or 314-983-5540. Honored to Serve the Ladue School Community!
