  • ❄️ Preparing for Winter Weather: Ladue Schools Incl...

October 30, 2025 Dear Ladue Schools Community, As we transition away from daylight saving time, the shorter days signal the inevitable shift toward winter weather, bringing with it the possibility of cold temperatures and challenging conditions. With this seasonal change, we want to proactively communicate the procedures Ladue Schools follows when inclement weather may impact the school day. Our priority remains the safety of our students and staff, while striving to maintain a consistent learning schedule. Given the inherent unpredictability of St. Louis weather, the district continuously monitors conditions to determine if school must be canceled or if an early dismissal is necessary. These decisions are made strictly based on safety factors, including current and expected road conditions, which directly affect cars and school bus transportation for our entire community. Our Communication Protocol If we determine that a change to the school schedule is required, we utilize multiple communication channels to ensure timely notification: We aim to communicate school closures the night before whenever possible to assist with family planning. If conditions change overnight, we strive to notify families and staff  no later than 5:45 a.m. The official cancellation notice will be sent via our mass communication broadcast system, ParentSquare. This includes a text, an email, and a recorded message to all families using the contact information linked to your student's Infinite Campus record.  Please review Infinite Campus or contact your child’s school to verify that your current contact information is accurate. Closure information will also be immediately posted on our official public-facing platforms: District website:  www.ladueschools.net Social Media: District’s Facebook and Instagram Local Media: We notify major local stations, including FOX 2 News, KMOV-TV Channel 4 News, KSDK-TV Channel 5 News, and KPLR/KTVI Channel 11 News. Program and Transportation Specifics Missouri Central  will directly contact affected families in the event of any changes or delays to specific school bus routes. After-School Activities:  In the event of a school closure, all after-school activities and programs are generally canceled. Coaches and sponsors will communicate any specific changes or exceptions directly to participating families. Right At School:  Families enrolled in the Right At School program will receive direct communication from their program administrators regarding any schedule adjustments on inclement weather days. Use of Snow Days As a reminder, our district calendar includes dedicated  snow days  to account for safety-related closures. This allows us to cancel school when conditions pose a risk to travel without requiring the use of Alternate Methods of Instruction (AMI) or immediate academic make-up days. We are committed to utilizing snow days only when absolutely necessary to protect the safety of our students and staff. Thank you for your ongoing partnership and flexibility as we manage the challenges this winter season may bring. Respectfully, Dr. Jim Wipke Superintendent

During the audition, students were challenged to learn and perform a 60-second excerpt of an Italian aria, as well as sight-read and perform unfamiliar music on the spot—a true test of musicianship and preparation. Congratulations to the following students for earning a spot in the Saint Louis Suburban Honor Choir: Chanuth Batagoda, 11th grader Molo Christ, 11th grader Velvet Majumdar, 9th grader Norah Murphy, 12th grader Anthony Zhao, 12th grader Read more about what’s next. FOX 2 and KPLR 11 made a second visit to the Ladue Early Childhood Center earlier this week to catch up with LECC Director Dr. Stacy Carlock following her unforgettable visit to New York City for a guest appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show! We love seeing Dr. Carlock’s joy, leadership, and positivity shining—locally and nationally. The story was also picked up by Yahoo News . The Ladue School District congratulates Dr. Patricia Brown, Director of Technology Services, on being selected as the President-Elect of the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE). This distinction follows Dr. Brown’s service on the ISTE and Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD) Board of Directors, where she has played an important role in shaping conversations about the future of learning and the role of technology in education over the last five years. Read more In his latest From My View blog , Dr. Wipke shares a heartwarming story from a recent road trip to Janesville, Wisconsin , where simple acts of kindness from strangers reminded him—and us—that empathy and small gestures can make a big impact. He reflects on how these moments connect to leadership, community, and education, showing that even the smallest acts can shape a culture of care. Interested in Subscribing? The book that will be featured in this collaborative book study is Smart but Scattered by Dr. Peg Dawson. This four-part virtual series is designed to support families, educators, and community members in understanding executive functioning and how to strengthen these skills in children and teens. Executive functioning skills are essential for both academic and life success, and because teachers in both districts are currently receiving training from Dr. Dawson herself, we saw an opportunity to extend this learning beyond the classroom.
