Chromebook Care
Hello GSD Families, As we all know, technology is an invaluable asset that enhances our comprehensive educational experience. It's wonderful to see how seamlessly our Chromebooks have integrated into the day-to-day learning of our students. We're reaching out today not only to remind each other of the shared responsibility we have in maintaining these essential tools. With the aim of ensuring a seamless and enriching academic journey, we ask for your support in reminding our students to care for their Chromebooks, as we've seen some challenges in this area recently. Here's what to keep in mind: Long-Term Investment: The Chromebook your student is currently using is designed to accompany them throughout a large portion of their academic journey. We've seen impressive device longevity in the past, and we encourage students to treat Chromebook as the valuable resource it is. Ownership & Responsibility: While accidents happen, it's important to remember that neglect leading to Chromebook damage could result in a charge of up to $250 per device to the student's account. Stay Charged: With the hustle and bustle of daily life, it’s easy to forget small but important things like charging your Chromebook. We encourage students to either charge their devices overnight. If that isn’t an option, please be sure to carry the device charger to ensure that learning is never interrupted. Our goal is to be proactive, ensuring that everyone can continue to benefit from our digital resources without any hiccups or unexpected expenses. We appreciate your immediate attention to this important aspect of our learning environment. Together, let's make the most of the incredible resources that our District provides and sustain a responsible, effective, and enriching digital learning landscape. Thank you for your support and commitment to educational excellence. GSD Staff

ODE Guidance
Yesterday, Oregon Department of Education announced the following guidance regarding the wearing of face coverings outdoors: Students, staff, volunteers, and visitors are not required to wear face coverings outdoors (including, but not limited to: Outdoor PE, outdoor music, recess, and arrival & dismissal). This includes youth sports and GSD sports practices on GSD property. Until additional updates are provided by ODE, all RSSL physical distancing and other related requirements still apply. ODE’s guidance now aligns with the recommendations of Oregon Health Authority. Please call the school offices if you have questions.

CDC Guidance
Today the CDC released new guidance related to fully vaccinated individuals and the use of face coverings and physical distancing. This afternoon Governor Brown issued a video statement on how this new guidance will be implemented in Oregon. In her statement she shared, " Nothing is changing for schools this school year, and I expect education staff and students to continue to wear masks and physically distance, as outlined in our Ready Schools, Safe Learners guidance. " This also applies to all other individuals on school campus, including but not limited to: family members, volunteers, visitors, SROs, and other partners. ODE is currently working with OHA on guidance for next school year. We will begin to share a discussion draft including key changes for your input the week of May 24th. We will also notify you of any updates to RSSL guidance for summer school in the coming weeks. Oregon's Graduation Ceremony Guidance aligns to the OHA's guidance for indoor and outdoor entertainment establishments. Please refer to that guidance and other guidance from OHA for any changes in the coming days that may reflect the Governor's announcement today.
