Full Day for Elementary /Middle School & Regents...
Peru Central School Families, As we continue to experience the heatwave, we will take the following measures to mitigate the effects of high temperatures in our schools on Thursday, June 20th and for the remainder of this school year. Evening and Early Morning Actions: Open Windows and Use Fans : This evening, as temperatures drop slightly, we will open windows on the second floor and use fans to move the air. Close Windows and Blinds : Tomorrow, when temperatures start to rise again, we will close the windows and blinds to keep the heat out. Utilization of Cooler Spaces: Cool Down Stations : We will maximize the use of cooler spaces in the buildings, such as libraries, nurses' offices, school offices, and air-conditioned classrooms, as cool down stations for students and staff. Temporary Large Groups and Testing : These cooler spaces will also be used for temporary large groups and testing.. Recommended Classroom Measures: Stay Hydrated : Encourage everyone to drink plenty of water throughout the day. Bringing a water bottle is highly recommended. Use Window Shades : Draw the window shades to help keep out the sun and reduce indoor temperatures. Ventilation : Keep windows closed in second-floor classrooms, even when leaving for the day, to ensure good airflow. Dress Comfortably : Wear light and comfortable clothing suitable for hot weather. Building & Grounds Staff Actions: Deploying Fans : Large fans have been and will continue to be deployed in the second-floor hallways to help circulate air. HVAC Monitoring : The building's HVAC systems will be closely monitored to ensure proper fresh-air circulation. Window Management : Night-time custodial workers will leave windows open in second-floor classrooms to promote ventilation. We want to assure all families that the safety and well-being of our students are our top priorities as we navigate this heatwave. We are implementing comprehensive measures to maintain a safe environment within our schools, including optimizing ventilation, using air-conditioned spaces, deploying large fans, and ensuring students stay hydrated. Our staff is diligently monitoring HVAC systems and managing window ventilation to maximize airflow. Rest assured, we are taking every possible step to mitigate the heat and provide a safe, conducive learning environment for all students. The New York State Education Department has not changed the Regents exam schedule or any regulations on school time/hour of mandatory instruction. Some Regents exams are required for graduation, while others depend on the student's graduation path. Thank you for your cooperation. Scott Storms Peru CSD Superintendent.

"Project Prom" Car Accident Reenactment
Dear Peru Community Members, I hope this email finds you well. We have an important announcement to share regarding our upcoming "Project Prom" event, hosted by Peru Central School District. This Thursday morning, May 16th from 8:30 to 10:30, around 8:30, we will be conducting a powerful reenactment of a car accident caused by texting while driving. We want to ensure that everyone in the Peru community is informed that emergency response vehicles will be present at Peru CSD during the reenactment. Sirens may be heard, and emergency vehicles will be visible in the area. We kindly ask for your cooperation and understanding during this time. Please do not be alarmed by the presence of emergency vehicles. This is part of our effort to raise awareness about the dangers texting and driving, especially as we approach Prom Weekend. We encourage you to share this information with your neighbors who may not receive notifications through Parent Square or other channels. Thank you for your attention and cooperation as we provide "Project Prom" the reenactment for 11th and 12th grade students.
