• Parent Portal

Hello Head Start Families, If you were contacted today by someone at administration about your parent portal, it is VERY important that you complete this today or on campus (Head Start) in the morning.  We have people who will be at the school to help you out.  Please plan on staying a little bit after you drop off your child(ren) to complete parent portal.  If this is not done, your child will not be able to stay at school on Monday.  We don't want you to have to miss a day due to needing paperwork completed. Please get on Parent Portal and see that your child is registered and complete the registration, if you have things missing.  If you need an ID for your child to proceed, we will have that for you.  Thank you!

  • UIL Executive Committee Ruling

August 6, 2026 Dear Gainesville ISD Faculty, Staff, Parents, and Community Members, Today, representatives from Gainesville Independent School District appeared before the University Interscholastic League (UIL) State Executive Committee regarding a self-reported violation of Section 1250 of the UIL Constitution and Contest Rules pertaining to offseason football practice regulations. Earlier this year, information was brought to my attention alleging that members of our football program had participated in offseason morning practices while wearing helmets and shoulder pads. Recognizing the seriousness of the allegation, I immediately initiated an internal investigation. Following interviews with athletic staff and a review of information obtained through the Gainesville ISD Police Department, it was confirmed that football practices involving the use of helmets and shoulder pads occurred from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. on the following dates: May 6, 2026 May 8, 2026 May 11, 2026 May 12, 2026 May 13, 2026 May 14, 2026 Because these activities violated UIL offseason practice regulations, Gainesville ISD voluntarily self-reported the violation to the UIL. We believe accountability begins with honesty, and it is our responsibility to acknowledge mistakes and address them appropriately. Following today's hearing, the UIL State Executive Committee issued a one-season suspension to Head Football Coach and Athletic Director Neil Searcy from his role as Head Football Coach. In addition, the UIL placed Gainesville ISD's athletic programs on probation. It is important for our students, families, and community to understand that this probation does not prohibit any of our athletic teams from participating in district competition or advancing to postseason play. Rather, it serves as a measure to ensure continued compliance with UIL rules and expectations. This situation is disappointing and does not reflect the values or standards that define Gainesville ISD. Throughout our history, our district has maintained an outstanding reputation for integrity, sportsmanship, and compliance with UIL rules. This is the first UIL violation of this nature in our district's history, and we are committed to ensuring it is also our last. This afternoon, I will meet with our football coaching staff to discuss the UIL's decision, outline expectations moving forward, and appoint an interim head football coach to provide leadership and stability for our student-athletes. I will also meet with every head coach in our district to reaffirm Gainesville ISD's expectations for compliance with all UIL regulations, professionalism, and our responsibility to develop student-athletes who excel both on the field and in the classroom. As with any personnel matter, Gainesville ISD will address this situation in accordance with Board policy, our employee handbook, and the sanctions imposed by the UIL. While personnel matters must remain confidential, I want to assure our community that we take our responsibility to uphold the integrity of our programs seriously. Most importantly, I want our student-athletes and their families to know that our commitment to them has not changed. Our coaches, administrators, and staff remain dedicated to providing outstanding opportunities for every student while competing with integrity, discipline, and respect for the rules that govern interscholastic athletics. Challenges often provide opportunities for growth. We will learn from this experience, strengthen our processes, and move forward together as one district committed to doing what is right for our students. Thank you for your continued support of Gainesville ISD and Leopard Athletics. We appreciate your trust, your encouragement, and your partnership as we continue working to provide exceptional opportunities for EVERY Leopard, EVERY day. Sincerely,  DesM ontes Stewart, Ed.D.  Superintendent  Gainesville ISD

  • Athletic Eligibility Reminders for Leopard Families

As the new school year approaches, please make sure your student-athlete is ready to participate in Gainesville ISD athletics.  All incoming 7th, 9th, and 11th grade students must have a new physical on file before participating in any athletic activity, including athletic periods. UIL requires all athletes to complete online participation paperwork every year. Gainesville ISD uses Rank One for online forms. Complete required forms at: https://gainesvilleisd.rankone.com/Pro/Login.aspx Students moving from Gainesville Junior High School (GJHS) to Gainesville High School (GHS) should not be marked as transfers. A student is only considered a transfer when moving from a different school district. Gainesville ISD will continue to provide FREE MEALS for all students for the 2026-2027 school year. GISD continues to qualify for the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) Program, which will allow GISD to provide breakfast and lunch to all children at NO CHARGE. This program will once again enable ALL students in GISD to receive free breakfast and lunch without the requirement for families to complete the National School Lunch Program free/reduced meal application. However, districts in the CEP program are required to collect an income survey from all families. The survey is now included during the registration process. This simple and concise form will provide valuable information that will assist GISD in qualifying for a multitude of grants from additional funding sources. The survey is collected via paper form when school begins. All enrolled students at a CEP-participating campus can receive healthy meals for free. The free provision only applies to standard, reimbursable meals. Extra items like snacks or milk outside of the meal bundle must still be paid for separately.
