A letter to families from Superintendent John G. Cam...
November 19, 2021 Dear KCUSD Families: As we approach the Thanksgiving holiday I would like to thank you for being part of our KCUSD family. It is hard to believe that just one year ago, I was writing to you about the successful return of our kindergarten through 8th-grade students. High school students were still eagerly anticipating their date of return. I am so thankful that all of our students are now back in class and most of our events and activities have returned. With the new challenges that we now embrace, it is easy to appreciate the tremendous effort being put in by so many. I am grateful for all the ways our families, students, teachers, classified and certificated staff members stepped up during the past two years. By reinventing what education looks like, creating distance learning curriculum, picking up technology and supplies, filling out daily health screenings, attending Zoom sessions, keeping track of synchronous and asynchronous days... Not only did you “show up” but you “stepped up.” All of this with a smile and the determination to do what needed to be done to ensure student learning. Thank you for reaching out to let us know when you needed help and thank you for allowing us to serve. Our students, families, and the KCUSD team, supported by our community partners, create a very special place to learn, grow, and thrive. Over the past several years, we have come together to support each other amid some of the most difficult times in history. Just as we drew upon our collective strength during that time, together we now look forward to the opportunities that lie ahead. Once again, KCUSD will focus on taking it to the next level. You will notice not only a return to our rigorous academic standards but new facilities on many campuses ensuring safer spaces for students and staff members. Our athletics and other co-curricular activities will continue to return with renewed energy and excitement. During the Thanksgiving break, I hope you will enjoy time with your loved ones and feast on all that brings you health and happiness. When students return to school on November 29, we will continue our partnership with you to help ensure that learning is taking place in a safe environment. Our KCUSD team will be eagerly awaiting your students' return as we continue to work together to provide opportunities that will help all students reach their fullest potential. Thank you for being part of our KCUSD family. Happy Thanksgiving! Sincerely, John Campbell Superintendent
