Subject: Important Heat Index Advisory for This Week
Dear Parents and Guardians, As we navigate the warmer weather, I want to inform you about the forecasted conditions for this week. Temperatures are expected to rise, with a high of 91 degrees on Tuesday and 89 degrees on Thursday. It's important that students and staff dress comfortably and stay hydrated throughout the day. To help students stay hydrated, we encourage them to bring a water bottle to school that can be refilled throughout the day. This simple practice can significantly contribute to their well-being in hot weather. In light of the weather outlook, we are closely monitoring conditions and may need to adjust outdoor activities. Specifically, we will consider canceling walking field trips and may limit outdoor recess to ensure the well-being of our students and staff. Additionally, despite our school closure on Wednesday in observance of Juneteenth, please note that Wednesday is projected to reach 91 degrees. We encourage everyone to take precautions and stay hydrated during this heat. Please be aware that many of our school buildings do not have air conditioning, which can make indoor conditions warmer during hot weather. Nevertheless, our priority remains providing a safe and conducive learning environment for all. Thank you for your cooperation and support as we prioritize the health and safety of our school community. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out. Warm regards, Dr. Larry C. Schmiegel Superintendent of Schools
