  • Marijuana on Campus is a Crime

    Important information for Livingston Parish Schools families and students: Act 305 of the 2026 Regular Legislative Session established new penalties for marijuana possession in school zones.  These changes took effect on Aug. 1, 2026, and include increased criminal penalties.  LP Schools campuses are drug free zones.  The law applies to school property, within 2,000 of school property, and on school buses.  Families and students are encouraged to review the attached information to learn more about the law and the penalties associated with violations.

  • Livingston Open House, Opportunity, and Career Expo

    The Livingston Parish Public Schools Special Education Department is partnering with Northshore Technical Community College to co-host the Livingston Open House, Opportunity, and Career Expo . We encourage  all  students in grades 6-12 to attend this wonderful event. Free food and drinks will be served.   The event will provide parents and students with disabilities an opportunity to connect with agencies and organizations that support successful post-school outcomes.

  • Important Update Regarding Youth Work Permits

    Important Update Regarding Youth Work Permits Effective immediately, Louisiana schools no longer issue work permits for minors. Under  Louisiana House Bill 232 (2026) , the responsibility for issuing Employment Certificates has shifted from schools to employers. Once a minor accepts a job: ✅ The employer will provide the Employment Certificate form (available at  www.laworks.net ). ✅ The employer will submit the completed form to the Louisiana Workforce Commission. ✅ The certificate is considered issued once the employer receives email confirmation. Please review the graphic for more information and share with anyone who may be seeking employment this school year.
