• COVID-19 Update

    January 15, 2021 Dear Solvay Community, Today the District was notified that three elementary school students tested positive for COVID-19. January 8th was the last day in the building for all three students. Contact tracing, done in collaboration with the Onondaga County Health Department indicated two of the students were not in the building during their infection period. However, tracing indicated that one of the students was in the building during his/her infection period which resulted in 4 students and 1 teacher being quarantined. All those impacted by the quarantine have been contacted. Please enjoy the holiday weekend. We look forward to seeing cohort A students in all three buildings on Tuesday, January 19th.   • COVID-19 Update

    January 14, 2021 Dear Solvay Community, Today the District was notified that a middle school student tested positive for COVID-19. This student was last in the building on January 8th. Contact tracing, done in collaboration with the Onondaga County Health Department resulted in 23 students, 4 teachers, and 1 staff member being quarantined. This exposure was confined to the sixth grade. The entire sixth grade  (cohorts, A, B, and C) will be  100% remote learning tomorrow , Friday, January 15th. Students should check their Google Classroom in the morning for instructions from their teachers with regards to learning activities tomorrow.  Cohort B students in middle school  grades 5, 7, 8, and Pre-K will learn in-person tomorrow . We look forward to seeing all cohort A middle school students in person on Tuesday, January 19th. The elementary and high schools will be open for in-person learning tomorrow, January 15th. Please remember Monday, January 18th is a scheduled holiday.   • COVID-19 Update

    January 13, 2021 Dear Solvay Community, Today the District was notified of the following COVID-19 positive cases: An elementary student who was last in the building on January 8th. Contact tracing is done in collaboration with Onondaga County Health Department indicated the student was not in the building during his/her infections period so there was no district exposure.  A high school fully remote student. As the student has not been in the building there was no exposure in the high school.   • COVID-19 Update

    January 12, 2021 Dear Solvay Community, Today the Onondaga County Health Department conducted voluntary COVID-19 surveillance testing at the middle school. This voluntary testing was open to any students attending the middle school today and any district staff member working today. Thank you to the Health Department and the 88 students and staff that participated in this surveillance testing.  The surveillance testing resulted in one teacher who works at the elementary school testing positive. Contact tracing completed in collaboration with the Health Department resulted in 10 students, two teachers, and one staff member being quarantined.  Additionally, the District was notified of two fully remote students testing positive for COVID-19. In all cases, the District completed contact tracing with the Onondaga County Health Department which resulted in no exposure in the district.  One fully remote elementary student.     January 6, 2021 Dear Solvay Community, The District was notified today of the following COVID-19 positive cases in the district: A middle school student last in the building on January 4th, 2021. Contact tracing done in collaboration with the Onondaga Health Department resulted in 7 students, 1 teacher, and 1 staff member being placed in quarantine.  A teacher at the elementary school last in the building on December 18th, 2020. Contact tracing done in collaboration with the Onondaga Health Department resulted in no district contact.   • COVID-19 Update

    January 5, 2021 Dear Solvay Community, This afternoon Solvay Elementary School participated in voluntary COVID-19 surveillance testing provided by Onondaga County. Thank you to the 81 students and staff that participated. All those tested today were negative.  The District has not received any notice of positive COVID-19 cases within the district in the last 24 hours.   • COVID-19 Update

    January 4, 2021 Dear Solvay Community, The District was notified today that one elementary student and one high school student tested positive for COVID-19. Contact tracing done in collaboration with the Onondaga Health Department for both cases indicated that there was no in district exposure as the individuals tested positive during the holiday break.   • Welcome Back Update

    January 3, 2021 Dear Solvay Community, We are excited to welcome everyone back from vacation to start this new calendar year. The District will resume our hybrid schedule tomorrow, Monday, January 4th. The District was notified of the following COVID-19 positive cases over the holiday vacation. Contact tracing done in collaboration with Onondaga Health Department for all cases indicated that there was no in district exposure. Two teachers, one staff member, and one student at the middle school tested positive. One teacher at the elementary school tested positive. One student who attends the high school tested positive.  We are confident that the Solvay community will continue to remain vigilant and act out of an abundance of caution with regards to following COVID-19 safety procedures, especially as positive cases in the County remain high. Please continue to keep students home if they exhibit any COVID-19 symptoms or were exposed to someone who is COVID-19 positive.  Please refer to the New York State Department of Health PreK-12 COVID-19 Tool Kit for more information related to when a student can attend school.  Additionally, if a student traveled out of the area over the vacation he/she must adhere to the  New York State COVID-19 Travel Advisory guidelines prior to returning to school.  If you are keeping your student home for a potential COVID-19 related reason, please contact your student’s school to notify them of the situation.
