Parent Data Confirmation Opens Today
Hello SMJUHSD Families, Prior to the beginning of each school year, parents and guardians are required to confirm the information we have on file. This process is called Data Confirmation. Data Confirmation is required for all students entering grades 9-12. For families with multiple children, data confirmation must be completed for each child individually. Data confirmation is required for all students before the start of school on August 14, 2025. Students will be unable to view their schedules in the student portal. Once parents complete Data Confirmation, parents will be able to view their child’s schedule in the parent portal. Data confirmation is completed online. Please visit the Aeries Portal site and login with your email and password. Attached to this message are step by step instructions for how to complete the data confirmation. These support materials can also be found at www.smjuhsd.org/pdc . When you first log in to the Aeries parent portal, you will be prompted to complete the data confirmation for each student before you can view that student’s records. Click on the link to start the data confirmation. You will have an opportunity to complete the online data confirmation for each student, if you have multiple students already enrolled in the District. To view a different student, click on the dropdown menu containing the student name in the upper-left of the Portal screen after logging in. Once you’ve completed the data confirmation, if you would like to make additional changes, go to the 'Student Info' tab and select 'Data Confirmation'. Our Family Resource Center is offering support for parents on both weekdays and weekends. Please see the attached flyer if you need help completing the Data Confirmation. Visit your school’s website for additional, school-specific information. Questions on enrollment and data confirmation? Please contact your child’s school. Migrant Summer School
Hello parents of migrant students. Please see below a message from your child's teacher: Guardians need to be aware that their student must spend time completing online assignments for their English summer class. These assignments are on EdPuzzle and IXL . The students are given daily time in class to complete these assignments; however, if the score is below 80%, they must redo them. Some assignments have not even been attempted. The last day to complete Edpuzzle and IXL assignments is 7/7 (given grades are due 7/9). They should encourage their student to work on these assignments after school this week or this upcoming holiday. The purpose of these online assignments is to review what has been previously taught in class. Mr. Canongo-Larios would like guardians to encourage students to complete their missing Math assignments in their notebooks/Canvas. They were already given a makeup day last Friday. Thank you for your cooperation.

Attendance Letter Notification Error
Hello SMJUHSD Families, I am writing to inform you of a technical malfunction that occurred with our Aeries information system and Parent Square communication system. Between Friday, 2/28, and Saturday, 3/1, you may have received a Parent Square notification via email, text message, app notification, and/or voice message about an attendance letter for your child. Please disregard this message. Notifications were generated and sent by the system in error. We are working with both companies to identify the cause of the technical malfunction and ensure corrections are made so this does not happen again. We are also aware that some of these notifications were delivered at an inappropriate time of day, specifically, late in the evening and in the early hours of the morning. We apologize for this error and any confusion it may have caused. Please reach out to your school site if you have additional questions. Sincerely, Matt Stockton Director, Instructional Technology Santa Maria Joint Union HSD

SMJUHSD Standard Response Protocol (SRP) for Inciden...
Dear SMJUHSD Families, As we start the new school year, we would like to share with you how we, as a district, respond to incidents that occur on or near our school campuses that may impact student and staff safety. We take the safety of our students and staff very seriously, and all threats or potential threats are treated with the utmost urgency. During any active incident, we communicate with the following agencies and people in the order noted below: 911 (when appropriate; most often for Secure and Lockdown ) District Office Incident Response Team School-Wide Staff Families of students at impacted school site/s through ParentSquare Alerts and Posts We collaborate with all of our local law enforcement agencies and first responders during any active incident. When there is an incident that is occurring on or near a school campus that may impact or is impacting student and staff safety, we immediately initiate our Standard Response Protocol (SRP) system. All SMJUHSD staff have been trained on the SRP system, and all school sites practice what to do during an active SRP incident with monthly drills. SRP is an action-based response system that provides a concise common vocabulary in times of crisis, hazards, and threats. All incidents fall into one of five categories with specific action steps to be followed. Here are the five SRP responses: HOLD SECURE LOCKDOWN EVACUATE SHELTER Here is our family handout ( English , Spanish ) regarding our SRP response protocols for different incidents. The handouts are also included as attachments to this post. We have also built out a webpage to provide information to parents, students, and staff, which can be found at this link: https://www.smjuhsd.org/schoolsafety Please do not hesitate to reach out to your school site with any questions you may have.
