Community Card Making! Let's Show our Gratitude for ...
Good morning WPS Community! United Way of Greater Waterbury is hoping to collect and distribute 1,000 cards of encouragement to local hospitals over the next few months and they are hoping our wonderful students will be a part of the initiative with a contribution of 200 cards! It's simple...students can CHOOSE a template or design their own card and SUBMIT it through the United Way website or mail it to: United Way of Greater Waterbury 100 North Elm Street, 2nd Floor Waterbury, CT 06702 Let's show our support!

Eemax Highlights Sprague ES For Global Handwshing Day
Hello WPS Community, Earlier this month, we announced the generous donation of the Handwashing Portable Stations by Eemax® to Waterbury Public Schools. These portable stations provide safe and effective handwashing to remote locations. Sprague Elementary School hosted the Waterbury-based company to demonstrate how to use the portable stations. Thank you Eemax for capturing our celebration of Global Handwashing Day!

Calling ALL Mask Makers....
Hello WPS Parents and Staff, Waterbury Public Schools and United Way UPstarters are hosting a service project to make face masks for WPS middle and high school students. All middle and high school students and their families are invited to participate. Sewing skills are not required! Please note that middle school students must be accompanied by a parent, guardian or grandparent. If you would like to sign up, please complete this Google form or complete the attached form and return it to your school’s Parent Liaison or designee via email. If your child is attending school in-person, they can return the form to their teacher. More details will be provided upon registration. Thank you for your continued support.

Calling All High Schools Students...UCONN Launches W...
The University of Connecticut's Kidney Disease Screening and Awareness Program (KDSAP) is highlighting careers in health care through a new webinar series tailored to high school students! Students will be able to join live sessions where presenters will address topics, such as why representation in medicine is important, the steps in preparing to apply for a career in medicine, pre-health opportunities and funding post-secondary education. Students will be able to ask questions during the live sessions and a recording of the presentation will also be available for those who can not attend live. The webinars air on Thursday afternoons at 3:30. Simply click here to join a session!

High School & WAMS 8th Grade October SAT & PSAT Sche...
We are pleased to announce that Waterbury Public Schools will offer the PSAT and SAT for all 8th through 12th grade students this fall. The test will be in-person for ALL students , whether or not they are an in-person or virtual student. Surveys have been given to students to gauge interest in participation and transportation needs. Virtual students will take the PSAT or SAT in the school they attend on a separate day from in-person learners. Please see the following guide for more information as it pertains to in-person students and virtual students. In-Person Learners will adhere to the following schedule: October 14th SAT DAY for in-person seniors PSAT DAY for in-person freshmen, sophomores and juniors. All 8th grade in-person students at WAMS will also take the PSAT Transportation will be provided as usual. All participants should arrive on time. School Day Changes: 7:20-1:00 p.m. 7:20-1:45 p.m. (for students who require more time) October 27th All in-person learners will need to remain at home and participate in asynchronous learning. Teachers will NOT have Google Meets on this day. October 29th All in-person learners will need to remain at home and participate in asynchronous learning. Teachers will NOT have Google Meets on this day. Virtual Learners will adhere to the following schedule: October 14th All virtual learners will continue to remain at home and participate in asynchronous learning. Teachers will NOT have Google Meets on this day. October 27th SAT Day ONLY for seniors who are virtual learners. Transportation will be provided for senior virtual learners who have opted to take the SAT. School Day Changes: 7:20-1:00 p.m. 7:20-1:45 p.m. (for students who required more time) If a senior is NOT taking the SAT, they must participate in asynchronous learning. All freshman, sophomore and junior virtual learners will continue to remain at home and participate in asynchronous learning. Teachers will NOT have Google Meets on this day. October 29th PSAT for freshmen, sophomores and juniors who are virtual learners. Transportation will be provided for virtual learners who have opted to take the PSAT. School Day Changes: 7:20-12:30 p.m. 7:20-1:15 p.m. (for students who required more time) If a freshman, sophomore or junior is NOT taking the PSAT, they must participate in asynchronous learning. All senior virtual learners must participate in asynchronous learning. Teachers will NOT have Google Meets on this day.
