Rancho Tehama

Good Morning. This morning in Rancho Tehama, a Corning Elementary bus transporting elementary and high school district students drove by a suspicious individual dressed in black with his face covered. The individual was allegedly carrying an object that appeared to be firearm and reportedly waved it at the bus. The bus driver contacted the District Transportation department, and all other buses were diverted from the area. Rancho Tehama Elementary is up and running on a soft lockdown. There is a Sheriff's presence in the area and an armed security guard on site at Rancho Tehama Elementary. Everyone is safe. While the sighting occurred approximately 20 miles from the high school, we will have staff members patrolling the campus and we are in constant contact with law enforcement. We will provide updates as soon as possible. There is no need to come to the high school and remove your student from school. If you live in the Rancho Tehama area, stay safe and vigilant. Please contact the Sheriff’s office if you see suspicious activity.

Aeries Parent Portal Data Confirmation/Confirmación ...

Hello everyone, we hope you all are doing well. CUHSD is in need of your assistance. If you have not completed the data confirmation process in the Aeries Parent Portal, we urge you to go in and complete it by Wednesday, September 15th. By doing so, you ensure that we have the correct contact information for your student in the event we need to contact you. Even if nothing has changed, the confirmation process must be done each year. If you need assistance completing the process, please call the registrar's office at 824-8010. We appreciate your help. Transmission Rate

Weekly transmission rate update:  COVID case rate for Tehama County is 54.4, which is substantial.  All COVID masking policies will be enforced per TCPH and CDC guidelines.  Students will be wearing masks indoors and will also be temp screened first period of the day.  We will continue to update each Friday.

Adult Education

Classes have started for Adult Education.  Sign up today for Adult Diploma/GED, beginning and intermediate English as second language, citizenship preparation, forklift certification, welding class or computer literacy classes.  See attached flyer for more information.

Minimum Day 8/18

Wednesday August 18th will be a minimum day.  School starts at 8:00am and students will be released at 12:48, with buses running at 1:15.

1st day of school

The first day of school is August 12.  We will begin the day at 8:00am in the North Gym with an assembly.  After the assembly you will need to go a distribution room and pick up your finalized class schedule.  Although, you may see your schedule in Aeries there may be some last minute changes and we will print the final schedule for you.  I have attached a list of the distribution rooms and you will find your distribution room by last name.   Students will attend all 7 periods on Thursday and Friday with a dismissal of 3:00pm and buses at 3:25pm.  You will need to bring your chrome book fully charged on the first day.  Pictures for your ID card and yearbook will be on Friday in your PE class, purchasing pictures will be optional.  If you have any questions please call 530-824-8000 or questions@corninghs.org

First Day date

The first day of school for Corning Union High School is August 12th and class will begin at 8:00am.  Students may access their class schedule in Aeries starting on August 10 and bus schedules are available on the school website corninghs.org. We will also be hosting a freshmen orientation on August 6th starting t 10am in the North Gym for parents and incoming freshmen.  We encourage all freshmen to attend.  If you have questions please call 530-824-8000 or email questions@corninghs.org.  We look forward to a great year!

Senior Portraits

Seniors, it is time to take your Senior Portraits for the Yearbook. We will have Lifetouch here August 2-5 in the cafeteria to take your picture. You do not need to pay for anything if you are not purchasing pictures but we do need your photo for the yearbook. You should have received an appointment flyer but if not there is an attached list on a parent square post.  You may log onto parent square or find the link on our social media sites. If you can not make it during that time you can come to the cafeteria August 2-4 to reschedule. The school does not do the scheduling so you will need to talk directly with Lifetouch. Any student looking to complete their 10 hours of community service for the upcoming school year may do so by helping the picture people can contact Mr. Mendonsa at tmendonsa@corninghs.org.  Thank you!

Campus Kestrels Video

Great footage of kestrels nesting at CUHS. From Mr. Tinker: "CUHS Kestrel update... Parents continuing to work hard to feed all of these nestlings.. turns out there are 5 not 4.  My guess these birds are about 12 days old.
