School Bus Referendum Results
Dear Onondaga Central Community, I want to extend our thanks to each and every one of you who took the time to come out and vote on the bus referendum. Your participation in this important decision-making process demonstrates your commitment to our community and the future of our students. Proposition 1 (2 66-Passenger EV and 1 30-passenger gasoline bus) fails 135 to 211 Proposition 2 (2 66-Passenger gasoline and 1 30-passenger gasoline bus) passes 274 to 67 Together, we are making a positive impact on our school system and keeping a strong foundation for future generations. Over the last two years, more New York schools than ever are offering universal free school meals. However, hundreds of schools are still unable to provide free school meals to all of their students. Help Hunger Solutions NY learn about the impact on New York students and families. Dear Community Members, I hope this message finds you well. I want to sincerely apologize for the delay in our Fall newsletter, which was meant to be in homes Monday or Tuesday to communicate important information regarding the upcoming bus vote scheduled for December 3, 2024, from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. We understand that timely communication is crucial, and we regret any inconvenience this delay may have caused. To ensure that everyone is informed and has the opportunity to participate, we will be holding Public Hearings tonight, November 21, 2024, from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m., and again on December 2, 2024, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Jr./Sr. High School Cafeteria. During these hearings, we will have an electric bus on-site for inspection and boarding, as well as a question and answer time; all this will allow you to see and hear firsthand the electric vehicle. Westhill Hosting Social Media Community Event
Dear Community Members, We are excited to announce a regional opportunity at Westhill High School: a special community screening of the impactful documentary film, "LIKE," on Tuesday, November 20, 2024, at 6:00 PM in the Westhill High School Auditorium. The film, approximately one hour in length, will be followed by a discussion, Q&A session and resource-sharing for all attendees. " LIKE" examines the pervasive influence of social media on our lives, highlighting its effects on the brain and learning. The film prompts critical discussions on how we can support our children in navigating the digital landscape in a healthy and balanced manner. All students in grades 5 through 12 will view "LIKE" during the school day on November 20, and they will engage in conversations about social media afterward. This initiative is part of our ongoing efforts to help students develop healthy online habits, and we believe "LIKE" will serve as a valuable resource for our community in addressing the challenges posed by social media.
