Clarification Regarding Today’s Hold-in-Place at the...
Dear General Brown Families, This afternoon, a Hold-in-Place was initiated at the high school. This is a routine safety procedure typically used when a student or staff member is experiencing a medical or personal issue that requires privacy and support. It is important to understand that a Hold-in-Place is not the same as a lockdown and does not indicate any threat to the school community. During a Hold-in-Place, all classroom instruction continues as normal —we simply limit hallway movement temporarily, so responders can assist without disruption. I want to be very clear: there was no lockdown , there was no arrest, no weapon, and no threat of a weapon involved. The situation was in no way related to the safety of others in the building. As part of our regular protocol, local law enforcement responded to assist and offer support. Their presence was not connected to any criminal activity, but rather to help ensure the situation was managed calmly and professionally. We understand that information can spread quickly on social media, and sometimes that information is inaccurate or incomplete. That is why I felt it was important to reach out directly—to reassure you with the correct information and prevent unnecessary worry. At General Brown, we remain committed to open and transparent communication, especially when it concerns student and staff safety. Please know that had there been any threat to our school community, we would have informed you immediately. Thank you for your continued trust and partnership. Sincerely, Brian A. Moore Superintendent

The Capital Construction Project Kicks Off Soon at t...
Dear General Brown High School Community, Big things are happening at General Brown! We’re beyond excited to announce that our highly anticipated capital project kicks off this April with Phase 1 at the High School. This transformative initiative will modernize key areas of our district, creating dynamic, future-ready spaces where our students and staff can learn, grow, and thrive for generations to come. As part of this major upgrade, we’ll begin safely removing asbestos-containing materials in April with work continuing throughout different phases of the project. Rest assured, we’re partnering with top-certified professionals to ensure the highest safety standards. Rigorous air quality monitoring will be in place every step of the way, so our schools remain a safe and healthy environment for everyone. To keep you informed, clear signage will be posted at the High School doors, ensuring everyone stays up to date on this important progress. Please be aware that parking around the main gymnasium area will be particularly challenging for the remainder of the school year during school hours due to an influx of construction-related vehicles. As a result, the high school administration will be communicating any necessary parking adjustments to help navigate these changes smoothly. This is a game-changing moment for our district, and we couldn’t do it without your support! Thank you for being part of this exciting journey as we reimagine and revitalize our schools. Stay tuned for more updates—the best is yet to come! Sincerely, Brian A. Moore Superintendent of Schools
