September 16, 2022 Dear Amador County Families: As you know we have been experiencing challenges with our Transportation Department which is understaffed. The District has been working to problem solve and alleviate issues to better support our families and students. We know you depend on us to get students to and from school safely on a daily basis. One significant challenge we are facing is that our ridership is up by approximately 300 students from last year. This is a great problem to have, but does make it difficult for the district to consolidate routes. The following strategies and practices are currently taking place in order to ensure students get to and from school: ● We have hired 4 new bus drivers and 9 new car/van drivers in the last 9 months as we move closer to being fully staffed. ● The District is in the process of acquiring more vans to expand the number of van routes. ● We have 1 new bus driver who started today, with 2 more nearing completion of their bus driver certificate. ● We are thoroughly reviewing all routes to find ways to run delayed bussing instead of outright canceling routes when we are shorthanded. Please expect more information in the coming weeks. ● Bus driver training courses are still available! If you, or anyone you know, are interested in becoming a bus driver, we will pay you to get trained. Please call 209-257-5180 for more information. Last but not least, we are working on increasing our communication regarding the department. Please consider this update the first of many as we work on increasing the Transportation Department’s efficiency. Thank you, Jared Critchfield Deputy Superintendent

Dear ACUSD Students & Families, We are writing to inform you of a TikTok challenge going viral that is affecting school campuses across the nation. This challenge is called “Devious Lick” and its purpose is to steal items from campuses without getting caught and posting photos or videos online. Stolen objects range from working towel dispensers to signs and even more concerning, fire alarms. These types of violations are subject to disciplinary action and may be subject to legal guardians and parents having to pay restitution due to property damages. In the past few days, we have had significant damage to various restrooms forcing us to close some while we make repairs. This continues to be a strain on our resources as staff is limited and supplies for the required repairs are sparse. We are reaching out to you for support. We continue to encourage a positive school culture and ask all of our students to say something if they see something. We ask parents and students to please reach out to their site principal with any information about the vandalism. All tips will be held confidential and will allow staff to complete the necessary investigations. We appreciate your support in this matter. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your site administrator. Thank you, Amador Count Unified School District
