The Woodinville High School Theatre Company (WHSTC) is thrilled to bring you The Play That Goes Wrong, a laugh-out-loud murder mystery farce, in the style of a Monty Python meets Sherlock Holmes play-within-a-play. The Play That Goes Wrong, written by Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer, and Henry Shields, follows a company of actors trying to perform a 1920s murder mystery called The Murder at Haversham Manor, but things are quickly going from awkward to bad to utterly disastrous. With an unconscious leading lady, a corpse that can’t play dead, and actors who trip over everything (including their lines), it’s an explosion of comedy that presents tons of fun for all ages!
Performances are April 24-26 and May 1-3 @ 7:00 pm. Tickets are $10 (seniors 65+ and w/ASB) and $15 General Admission and can be purchase online thru the GoFan app at https://gofan.co/app/school/WA23370

While we know regular attendance is one of the most powerful ways to prepare your student for success, we also know that sometimes students must miss school for a variety of reasons. Next time that happens for your family, let our attendance office know through ParentVUE:
2. Click the “Report Absence” button next to the name of your absent student
3. Fill in the fields with the date(s) of the absence and provide an explanation
- For example, describe if it is a full-day absence or if leaving early or arriving late, provide a specific time
4. Click to submit, automatically notifying the school of the absence
You can support your student and our attendance office in these changes by using ParentVUE to make attendance notifications as early as possible.

This school year, we have already experienced weather-related school closures on four days, and there remains a possibility of additional school delays or closures still to come this school year. The 2024-25 calendar includes emergency make-up days to help families prepare in advance. Please keep in mind as your family considers summer activities that the 2024-25 calendar includes emergency make-up days, and any additional days will be added to the end of the school year. The final version of the 2024-25 one-page family calendar will be communicated in April. (NSD Connections Newsletter 3/10/25)

The beginning of a new year provides a good opportunity to remind students and families of our commitment to student, family, and staff safety, as well as avenues available if you or your student has concerns you wish to share with us. Our school works closely in collaboration with law enforcement, District Safety and Security, and District administrators to ensure your concerns are taken seriously and are addressed promptly. We must be vigilant in the protection of our school community, and we value and appreciate our partnership with you. We can't do it alone.
If you or your student sees or hears something concerning, please say something. If at any time you or your student believes you have knowledge of any situation where danger is imminent, dial 911 immediately. And please continue to encourage your student to share any concerns with a trusted staff member. If they aren’t comfortable sharing directly with staff, concerns can always be anonymously submitted using our Safe Schools Alert System:

The Northshore School District provides each student with a district-issued technology device. When students/families assume responsibility for a district-issued device, they sign forms agreeing to accept financial responsibility for any device damage or loss. We know accidents and loss can happen. The Student Device Protection Plan provides NSD families an optional path to mitigate the financial liability of using a district device.
PARTICIPATION COST: The standard payment to enroll in the NSD Student Device Protection Plan is $25 per year; free for students who have qualified for free or reduced-price meals and who have provided consent to share their status for fee waivers. No refunds will be given once enrolled in this program.
COVERAGE AND BENEFIT: This program covers the device (Chromebook, Macbook, or iPad) loaned to your student against accidental damage for the school year. This program does NOT cover damage resulting from misuse or neglectful loss of the device. We expect all students to properly use their device and to secure it when it is not being used. If the device is used improperly or is not secured while the student is not using it, families will be expected to pay the full cost of replacement or repair.

Our talented Japanese class students, under the leadership of Teacher Mizue Sunahara, competed in Japan Bowl at Vancouver, WA the weekend of March 15. The Pacific Northwest Japan Bowl is the largest Japanese language and culture quiz competition outside the national competition, operated by the Japan-America Society of Oregon (JASO). This year was the largest competition to date, with 100 students across 36 teams, 12 schools, and two states competing for the chance to win a trip and represent the Pacific Northwest in the National Japan Bowl in Washington D.C.
Students competed at various levels and earned impressive places!
2nd Place in Level 3 category: Jerry Xu, Isaiah Wideman, Annabelle Chung
3rd Place in Level 2 category: Quinn Mizushima, Finn Hill, Tim Lopez
Everyone at JASO was delighted by the level of enthusiasm and school spirit the Woodinville students exhibited during the competition. These accomplishments are a testament to their hard work, dedication, and exceptional skills. Ms. Sunahara shared, "I am incredibly proud of their achievements and the honor they have brought to our school. Please join us in congratulating them for their success!"
Congratulations to these students!
