AP testing begins Monday, May 5 and continues through Friday, May 16.
If your student is taking an AP Exam, please have them read the Advanced Placement Exam Information email carefully for full instructions and check their email regularly for updates.
Below are a few key notes:
- Check-in will begin at 7:30am for morning exams and 11:30am for afternoon exams.
- Exams are digital/hybrid this year. Students must bring their fully-charged, school-issued Chromebook and charger on test day.
- Students must know their College Board MyAP login information. Passwords that are saved on their device will not work with the Bluebook testing app and proctors do not have access to their login information.
- Students must have photo ID (ASB card or driver's license) in order to take their exam. No StudentVUE app or picture on their phones.

Upcoming Test Dates

*English Language Arts (ELA:) took place 4/14-4/18
Current 10th-grade students are scheduled to participate in Smarter Balanced (SBAC) ELA and Math state testing as an avenue of fulfilling the state's ELA and Math graduation pathway requirement. Additionally, any 11th-grade or 12th-grade students who have not yet fulfilled the state ELA and/or Math graduation pathway requirement will have the opportunity to re-take the ELA and/or Math SBAC test. Juniors will also participate in the state WCAS science exam for federal accountability purposes.
Students must be present on each designated testing day or will need to participate in a make-up session for the missed section of the exam.

Students must bring their fully-charged district-device when participating in state testing, along with compatible earbuds/headsets. (Headsets will be provided for students who do not bring personal earbuds/headsets).
Testing for Woodinville High School students is administered in the Library during the student's typical English, Math, and/or Science class period. Testing students in periods 5 and 6 will take A Lunch on their testing day.

- All sophomores, select juniors and seniors
- This exam is an avenue to fulfill the state math graduation requirement

If an 11th- or 12th-grade student has already met standard in English Language Arts or Math, then the student does not need to test again.

The juniors are excited to announce that pre-orders have started for the "Senior" T-Shirts for the class of 2026! These t-shirts are a WHS tradition and an important part of multiple senior events that will take place this year and next. Juniors traditionally wear them to the Moving Up Assembly on Friday, June 6, 2025, as they take their place as the new WHS Seniors! Pre-purchased t-shirts will be distributed during Beach Day on June 5th.
Please do not create a guest account, if your username and password are needed, please email whsattendance@nsd.org. T-shirt size selections are required and will be selected under "Additional Info" after adding item to cart.

Senior Awards Night is one of those "pay it forward" events! Volunteers, preferably freshmen, sophomore, and junior parents/guardians are needed on Thursday, May 29, after the Senior Awards Ceremony concludes to help in the office with Commencement ticket sales and the distribution of cap/gown/stole and yearbooks for the Class of 2025. As college decisions are being released, counselors would love to be kept in the loop! We would love to celebrate your acceptances and counsel you through your waitlist, deferral, and/or denial decisions. We truly believe that you will be successful wherever you go.

Juniors, spring is a great time to start planning for life after high school. While we don't expect you to have your plans set in stone, we do encourage you to start thinking about what your path might look like after graduation.

- Log into your Naviance account to utilize the Super-Match College Search engine to research colleges.
- Check out some college campuses (in person or virtually: https://campustours.com/)
- Use Naviance to organize colleges you're interested in using the "Colleges I am Thinking About" tool.
- Research college admission requirements, for example: will you need to ask a teacher to write a letter of recommendation for you?
- While some colleges are waiving the testing expectation for admission, you still may want to sign up to take the ACT or SAT.
- Counselors are looking forward to collaborating more with you around the college admission process this spring, but do not hesitate to reach out with any questions in the meantime!

Parents and guardians whose income falls within specified guidelines set by the U.S. Department of Agriculture should apply for free or reduced-price meals for their students. Applications were available August 1st and were due by October 14th to avoid an interruption in benefits (only one application is required per family), but families can apply at any time during the year – throughout the year.
If you qualify for Free or Reduced Meals you may also qualify for:

While we know regular attendance is one of the most powerful ways to prepare your student for success, we also know that sometimes students must miss school for a variety of reasons. Next time that happens for your family, let our attendance office know through ParentVUE:

3. Fill in the fields with the date(s) of the absence and provide an explanation
- For example, describe if it is a full-day absence or if leaving early or arriving late, provide a specific time
4. Click to submit, automatically notifying the school of the absence

To help parents get the most out of school, you want day-to-day insight into the academic experience. With the Synergy ParentVUE web portal, parents and guardians can access near real-time information on attendance, class schedules, report cards, course history, graduation status and more.

A single username and password allows parents to access information for all of their children, regardless of the grade level or school of attendance. Last week, the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction informed Northshore that the requested waiver for two inclement weather days was approved.

Northshore's updated last day of school for K-11th grade students is Friday, June 20, which will be a partial day. (WHS will operate on Last Student Day Schedule #28.)
- Tuesday, June 17 and Wednesday, June 18 will be full days of school.
- As a reminder, June 19 is a holiday (Juneteenth), and schools are closed.
Because Northshore schools were closed for weather-related issues for a number of days this winter, we have not met our state-required instructional hours. This means that instructional hours will need to be made up on two Wednesdays that were previously scheduled to be Early Release Wednesdays: April 30 and May 7. These two days – April 30 and May 7 – are now full days of school.
Revised one-page family calendars are posted to the district website. These updated calendars are available in English, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, Ukrainian, Hindi, Chinese - simplified, and Chinese - traditional.

The Northshore School Board invites the community to attend the Superintendent Finalists Town Hall on Tuesday, May 13 from 6:30-8 p.m. at the Northshore Concert Hall at Inglemoor High School, 15500 Simonds Road NE, Kenmore. Following a months-long superintendent search process, the May 13 Town Hall will provide our community the opportunity to hear from the candidate finalists and provide feedback to the School Board as they make their final decision. The Town Hall will be live streamed and an online, translated feedback form will be available so anyone can provide input on the finalists, either in person at the event or after viewing the livestream. If you would like to attend and need interpretation or an accommodation, please submit your request using this form. The School Board plans to announce the next Northshore School District superintendent by mid-May 2025. Summer can be a wonderful time for high school students to catch up, get ahead, or be exposed to new content areas through a number of Northshore’s learning opportunities. On Monday, April 21, registration in Northshore’s Summer School will launch online, so check the Summer School website for details on how to enroll in virtual classes for credit retrieval, first-time credit, and accelerated math. Schedules will vary but all will take place virtually from approximately July 7-August 6. Enrollment is on a first come, first served basis with the tuition information available online.
In addition, Northshore is pleased to host several WANIC Summer Semester programs at Bothell High School and Woodinville High School. Check out the options listed below, and apply before Thursday, April 24.
WANIC Summer Semester runs Monday, June 30 – Thursday, July 17, 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. All classes are in-person. Rising 9th (current 8th) graders through rising 12th (current 11th) graders are eligible. There is NO TUITION for WANIC classes and students may earn .5 high school credit. In addition to courses offered at Bothell and Woodinville high schools, there are additional offerings taking place in Kirkland, Redmond, Duvall, and other sites. As graduation approaches, meeting was hosted with the seniors during 4th period on Friday, May 2, which helped seniors focus on responsible decision-making, celebrating safely, and reflecting on how they hope to finish high school. A key part of this programming was addressing the real and often tragic consequences of driving under the influence — especially during graduation season. We want every student to enjoy this milestone without risking their future or the lives of others. This session challenged students to think critically about their choices and empower them to make decisions that keep themselves and their peers safe. |

The Staff Appreciation Committee is hosting a Cinco de Mayo lunch for our wonderful WHS staff on Friday May 9th. We are looking for volunteers who like to provide some taco fixings.
Please drop off lunch items by 10 am. You or your student can bring items to the office or staff room (located by the student store). We will take any items that need to be returned (crock pots, dishes, etc.) outside the office around 2 pm. Please label any dishes you will be picking up with your name.

The Northshore School District provides each student with a district-issued technology device. When students/families assume responsibility for a district-issued device, they sign forms agreeing to accept financial responsibility for any device damage or loss. We know accidents and loss can happen. The Student Device Protection Plan provides NSD families an optional path to mitigate the financial liability of using a district device.
PARTICIPATION COST: The standard payment to enroll in the NSD Student Device Protection Plan is $25 per year; free for students who have qualified for free or reduced-price meals and who have provided consent to share their status for fee waivers. No refunds will be given once enrolled in this program.
COVERAGE AND BENEFIT: This program covers the device (Chromebook, Macbook, or iPad) loaned to your student against accidental damage for the school year. This program does NOT cover damage resulting from misuse or neglectful loss of the device. We expect all students to properly use their device and to secure it when it is not being used. If the device is used improperly or is not secured while the student is not using it, families will be expected to pay the full cost of replacement or repair.

The Washington State National History Day Competition was held April 26, 2025 at Lake Washington High School.
Congratulations to senior Katie Ng, for winning the coveted Washington State Teen Historian Award. This award is the highest honor for historical research in Washington State. In addition to a substantial cash prize, Katie has earned a summer internship with the Washington State Historical Society wherein she will work with museum curators and state archivists to further develop her documentary, Hank Adams: Defending Rights, Upholding Responsibility, for the Washington State History Museum on a professional level. Way to go Katie!

Huge congratulations go to sophomore Olivia Hansen, whose documentary on Environmental Activism took 1st place in the state! With the best documentary in Washington State, Olivia will now go on to the national level in June. Olivia will travel to Washington DC to present her documentary against competitors from across the nation. Good luck Olivia! You will represent Woodinville and Washington State very well! |
